Hi,
Just installed WPMU + Buddypress on my HSphere box. I’m getting the following error when I try to activate buddypress links:
Plugin could not be activated: fatal error
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘;’, expecting ‘(‘ in /home/hsphere/local/home/planchristmas/planchristmas.com/wp-content/plugins/buddypress-links/bp-links.php on line 488
Any pointers for a newbie would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
@Squashroby
Which version of PHP are you using? Which version of buddypress-links do you have installed?
Thanks MrMaz. I got it now … working really well. Minor suggestion: Maybe the widget title could be customizable? Depending on the site this could be presented in many different ways.
@MrMaz
I’m running:
WordPress MU 2.8.5.2.
Buddypress 1.1.2
Version 0.1.2
The installation is on a Hsphere PHP platform
Thanks
@Squashroby
Is it possible that you are running PHP4? BuddyPress-Links requires PHP5. I guess I should add that to the requirements.
I just created a group for BuddyPress Links where I will be posting the latest news about the plugin’s development. Joining this group will be the best way to make sure you stay up to date!

Ah, that’ll be it. Just found out my host is running php 4.4.8. I’ve another server running php 5.2.6, I’ll move everything accross.
Thanks for you help.

Although WPMU now tells me everything is installed and working I’m not able to register using the buddypress frontend. I found a reference in a forum suggesting that any plugins with ‘-‘ in their name can cause the error I’m seeing.
From my log:
Request exceeded the limit of 10 internal redirects due to probable configuration error. Use ‘LimitInternalRecursion’ to increase the limit if necessary.
I’m still getting this after deactivating buddypress-links though so may be more of a buddypress general support quesiton. Any ideas?
