John James Jacoby replied to the forum topic Buddypress notifications for BBpress 2.0 plugin linked incorrectly in the group How-To and Troubleshooting
@jetlej – See your topic over at bbPress.org for my response.
Related note, please don’t cross post the same question in both forums. It creates twice the work on our end which makes fixing things take twice as long.

It happens to the best of us. Happy there wasn’t anything actually broken.
Thanks for the kind words.

Does your media gallery allow you to upload things? Since BuddyPress uses the core WordPress APIs to handle the upload, it shouldn’t be the only thing broken (unless wp-admin is whitelisted or something.)

John James Jacoby replied to the forum topic BuddyPress wipes out Wordpress cache? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting
No reason to bump anything here at all. The forums don’t move fast enough and all of the core devs and moderators do a great job at keeping their eyes on things.

I deleted it. The issue has been reported countless times already with us asking not to report it anymore. We are working on it.

Anything is possible, but if you’re not able to make (or learn how to make) these changes yourself then it’s time to hire someone to do it for you.

John James Jacoby replied to the forum topic Site-wide Forums - bbPress deprecation errors in the group How-To and Troubleshooting
If it’s going to take bbPress in excess of 4 weeks to fix a seemingly simple bug with help menus, I’m not too confident about keeping the software installed.
If you have the time and the means to create a patch, […]

John James Jacoby replied to the forum topic Can buddypress handle 30k+ users? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting
Scale isn’t just about volume of data. Assuming infinite hardware is available, anything can scale.

BuddyPress can handle whatever you need it to. That said, it is not a turn-key community ecommerce solution, and you’ll need to patch plugins in, create s custom theme, etc… As long as you use […]

You’re right. There is a lot constantly going on, and it’s dizzying to keep up with it all. We try really hard on our end to balance updates with backwards compatibility, to make sure things run as smoothly as […]

John James Jacoby replied to the forum topic HEY! Where did the BP-Media support forum go?? in the group Third Party Components & Plugins
At the end of the day, this is a support site for BuddyPress. Us opening up groups for third-party plugin support was an experiment of its own, and a successful one I think. We put your plugin and support […]

John James Jacoby replied to the forum topic How to convert groups to tags, i.e. re-assigning a thread's group as a tag in the group How-To and Troubleshooting
At the risk of sounding too obvious, you’d want to loop through each group, get its slug, and add it probably as a term in a custom topic taxonomy. Then loop through each groups topics, and add that term to each one.
