BuddyPress 1.0.1 is now available. The easiest way to upgrade is through the plugin browser on your WordPress MU installation, you should see a notification for the latest version. If you would like to upgrade manually you can download the latest then simply overwrite your existing files. Please make sure you backup first.
This point release fixes a number of security issues in the 1.0 version so it is a critical upgrade for everyone currently running BuddyPress. There is also a number of other bug fixes so please review the release history for more information.
hi Andy,
Thanks for the update.Keep up the good work.I hope my theme(well,I develop buddypress themes for my clients :)) will not break,(as I see the change logs and there is no change in any template tag).
@brajesh: No changes to themes. As I posted before, old themes will continue to be forwards compatible with BuddyPress, they will just not include new functionality unless updated.
That’s a great job done. Congratulations and many thanks for advancing this immensly popular and number one product.
I have a few questions – basically non-urgent so feel free not to answer or if anyone has links please chip in.
Is there a road-map of probable release of next versions ?
The release history does not say which files were changed. Is it possible to know ? Since certain stuffs were not working I had to made some changes in some non-template files ( https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=2988 )
It will be nice to know which files are changed or if it just possible to apply the security patch.
Thanks again.
Thanks for the upgrade.
html tags are not working in the “welcome” widget site wide.
@Ronia: a roadmap will be published next week as the roadmap rankings close today.
You can view a list of all changes between 1.0 and 1.0.1 here: http://bit.ly/16sbIx
love the update. I really need to make a list of what I have in mind. The only issue I’m having right now with my site is with the avatar cropping. Yes. I’ve read the forum posts. I was thinking implementing something in with ajax.
kudos and keep up on the fantastic work!

Обновление BuddyPress 1.0.1 и [CDPACK] плагин…
Andy выпустил следующую версию BuddyPress 1.0.1. В чем основное отличие от 1.0:
Исправлены ошибки безопасности (много ошибок, я бы сказал).

Great news! Andy rocks 🙂 Already updated all sites to 1.0.1
Seeing that WordPress 2.8 will eventually replace WP MU, does this mean that BuddyPress will work with a standard WordPress 2.8 installation?
Ho Andy, thanks for the great work!!! I’m so amazed at the continuous development of Buddpress 🙂
I just installed 1.0.1 and noticed that the buddy bar is very different with less information in it. All it shows is the MEMBERS BLOG NAME and A LOG OUT Button..is this normal? or should it be like it used to be?
Is there anyway to display the a shortcut to the logged in members profile in this bar?
Best wishes and kindest regards
Stef
Ohhhh… I can’t wait to see the roadmap! 🙂 And thx for 1.0.1!
wow: constant updated and bug-fixes….. I am impressed !
Keep on the great work – you are helping many people to live their dreams by executing on their website-projects they always wanted to create….
Thanks a lot !
This is great for our buddypress site.
@terry I noticed that the HTML in the welcome is stripped too,
in /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-widgets.php
change line 42 to this.
`
`
Try that again encoded:
<?php if ( $options['text'] ) : ?><p><?php echo ( $options['text'] ) ?></p><?php endif; ?>

mmm … my language settings are mixed up between english and spanish, the proper setting. All the widgets titles are in english, the wp-admin menus titles are in spanish althrough the menu options text (right pane) is in english … maybe is related with some striped HTML ?
Anyonelse having this problems too ?
just wondering: is the website http://www.testbp.org already upgraded to the latest version ?
Just to reply myself to the language problem. It’s solved:

Looks like the upgrade deletes your MO language files.
After upgrading I got an error trying to access my Member and Groups pages. Anyone else had this problem? I had to go back to the previous version and it’s working again.
https://trac.buddypress.org/browser/trunk/bp-groups/bp-groups-templatetags.php#L309 – probably „get_group_avatar_thumb” should be replaced with „bp_get_group_avatar_thumb”.
@joelpittet thank you very much for answering @terry’s question. You just saved me a bunch of time as well. 🙂

Hi. Thanks for the upgrade. I just installed the latest version and now I’m getting the following error when click on Group for any member. may i know of any suggestion?
You haven’t joined any groups yet.
Why not join a few of these groups?
Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_group_avatar_thumb() in /home/content/h/i/m/himuchichu/html/aface/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-groups/bp-groups-templatetags.php on line 309
Buddypress works well with WPMU. Will you consider buddypress integration with a single wordpress as well?
@Marketplace
What is the purpose of using Buddypress with WordPress?
Looks good but the time of day would be great in order to see when the post was made. Appreciate the hard work of everyone working on this.
Hey your name and email stays in the box…great
Hello Greta:
I’m not interested in “social discussions” , my comments are directed to you in response to your topic.
As to “facebook”, I do not participate in that sort of thing due to the high risk of imbedded virus.

the upgrade button is sooooooooooo much more hassle-free… absolutely dig it. random, off-topic question though… as far as versioning goes, did Automattic give you a handguide or are you just reserving the minor number for edits/fixes and the major number for new features? i mean, could you jump to BP 1.5 if you suddenly added IM/albums/file exchange and whole bunch of other features for the next release, or would you still have to go through 1.0.2 –> 1.1 –> 1.1.1 –> etc?
@Mike – Glad you like the one click upgrades. The versioning will be the same as WordPress. Minor numbers for fixes, major for new features. There won’t be any number inflation, so it will go to 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc etc.
I updated to 1.0.1 and suddenly the BuddyPress Bar vanished and I see the “dashboard admin bar” of WPMU everywhere.
I can switch that “Admin bar” of blog-by-blog and then I get the BP bar back — but that is not the desired/expected behavior.
@owrede: Sounds to me like BuddyPress didn’t reactivate. Make sure it is activated in your plugins planel.
@apealting: No. Dactivating and Re-activating does not change the behavior. I do see the BP bar when logged out though. Is it possibly related to my status being an (global) administrator?
upgrade and reactivated. had a nasty fatal error and said it cannot reactivate but still it says i have upgraded to the latest version. i dont see anything obviously wrong as of yet except the welcome widget (fixed already) and my logo turning back to buddypress again (will fix later) so, cheers to that!
thank you so much for all he hard work!
Thanks Andy, great job!!

This sounds great. I am having a site developed that sounds like it could be perfect for including buddypress. However, I have a couple of questions before I get too excited.
While I will have a pro build the site, I will likely have to maintain it. Is buddypress simple enough for a novice to maintain, or is this a pro only add?
Is WordPressMU different than WordPress 2.7.1?
Does someone here have a good example of buddypress installed and working well on their site?
Feeling hopeful,
devin
There are some wordpress users who do request the same. It would still be a social network but instead of using WPMU as their blog platform, they’ll be using wordpress. Registered Users can the be designated as authors for them to be able to post blogs..
Good job. Thank you
Man oh Man,
The upgrade broke all the good stuff.
Leaving a private message results in a blank white page when sending.
Albums no longer work. Events don’t work. And probably a lot more.
I’m going back to 1.0 even with the security issues that have been stated.
@Jeffrey: Make sure you ask for support on the forums, the upgrade should not break anything.
