In reply to: Creating a link for all the blogs
Write a new Page in the backend. Call it “blog”. Do not put any content in it & save.
Go to Settings – Reading. Find “Front page displays”. See where it says “Posts page:”? Check the drop down and pick the “blog” page you just made.
Save.
Go to the front of your site. there will be a tab up top that says “blog”. Click it and see your blog posts.
In reply to: Creating a link for all the blogsYou’re confusing the word blogs and posts. If you have a single blog, then you have a list of most recent posts.
In reply to: Spam, Spam and more spam“The only other way I can think of is that a member is “inviting” them via the “Allow blog administrators to add new users to their blog via the Users->Add New page.” on the WPMU options page, so I’m going to disable that as well now.”
That’s one of the first things I turn off.
In reply to: People cant sign up for my site? But you can integrate BuddyPress into your exisiting theme.
https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/
There really isn’t a comparable plugin out there.
In reply to: People cant sign up for my site?“do I have to have a buddypress compatible theme for this to work. “
Yes. That’s how it manages the links to the BP pages.
In reply to: atahualpa 3.4.4 and buddypress 1.1.2this page:
http://catswebweave.com/members/
Shows the integration isn’t fully complete. You have to edit the html in the BP template files that are added to the theme.
In reply to: domainmapping on wpmu+bpIt’s not so much domain mapping, as the blog post links alreayd in the activity stream don’t get updated.
I have no idea if this got fixed or not. It is also apparent when you change permalinks on a blog.
In reply to: Spam, Spam and more spamBlock the registration page from the search engines. JUST the register page.
In reply to: Buddypress version of wordpress ‘mystique’ theme?Send me a PM, I’ve been working on this by making a BP child theme for Mystique. I’ve done the hard parts (adding stuff to nav bar) but was just going thru the HTML parts (the grunt work).
We can merge the work.
In reply to: Buddypress version of wordpress ‘mystique’ theme?Nope, I’ve got it down pat right now. I was working on it again just the other night, as I’ve had to go back & redo all the ones I took screenshots of.
My only dilemma right now is whether to release it as a child theme (of the original WP theme) or a forked theme. Hrm.
In reply to: Changing BuddyPress Page Templatesyou don’t apply a page template to the BP areas. You have to take the BP template files added to your theme folder, and adjust the divs listed in there to match the ones in your page-full.php template.
In reply to: total site gone !Blank pages means errors. Go into your site via FTP and remove the plugin you activated.
In reply to: help with custom theme breakageHee.
Well, there’s all those words and stuff around it.
At this point, theme integration is mainly template work.
In reply to: help with custom theme breakageGuy, y’all led her down the wrong garden path.

When you add BP to an exisiting theme, if the theme markup (HTML) is different than the default theme, then you have to change the HTML in the BP theme templates.
Not the css, the HTML.
@duvy – look in your WP theme folder. The BP template plugin shoudl have added some folders to your theme. Look in those folders. You’ll see some files and they’ have < div id=”content”> in them. Change that part to match your original theme.

In reply to: Hybrid Child Themes QuestionCheck your error logs, Greg.
In reply to: Help migrating my site to a new serverYes, unless you want to do it command-line with mysql dumps.
In reply to: Getting theme to work (infocus)Then I;d say you;re editing the wrong files. Or the files you need to edit are in the wrong place.
A copy of all the bp template files & folders should go in your theme folder.
In reply to: Help migrating my site to a new serverEverything is stored in the database, so as long as you get that and everything under the wp-content folder, you’ll be good.
“nathan.krisanski.com”
Your username has a space in it. The generated URLs are like this:
http://nathan.krisanski.com/members/Nathan Krisanski/ so there’s no way that will be a valid url.
In reply to: login/create an account problemSomething’s wrong because the admin bar is not showing up at the top of the screen either.
If it’s related to user blogs, you’re better asking over at the wpmu forums,
https://mu.wordpress.org/forums/view/all-topics
Where there are plenty of topics discussing just this very thing. (Yes, it’s possible, yes there are plugins)
In reply to: Multiple blogs on BuddypressI guess I’m confused… if you;re using MU, then just create another blog. Go to the Site Admin -> Blogs menu, and Add A Blog.
All blog activity will show up in the activity stream automagically.
In reply to: template compatibilitySome themes are harder than others. If you don’t have a good understanding of html/css, then it can be difficult.
Aha! I see you’re using a studiopress theme.
Yeah, I’ve done them before. You’ve got the /members/ page looking right, you need to do the profile templates as well.Or wait until Brian makes a magazine chidl theme for Genesis. Then we’ll have the BP addon for that available.
In reply to: domain mapping not working properlyWhich domain mapping plugin are you using? Last count, there were FIVE that I knew of. Some keep the subdomain reference, one doesn’t.
