    I am aware that CVs have different formats from one country to the next, so future versions will provide a way to completely customize any aspect of a CV.

    This will be loosly based on the new way of generating and sorting profile fields in the BP trunk and on CV templates provided by users of JobBoardr.

    Once you signed up to the test site, you can set up your own CV already and then generate a PDF file from it. The user-avatar gets automatically included as of now. The project that sidetracked me from finishing the first stable version of JobBoardr doesn’t actually need all the CV extravaganza, so a CV-rewrite will come with version 1.1.

    Saying that, if you know a bit of PHP and OOP it’ll be easy to adjust the function responsible for outputting the PDF file. You’d also need to adjust the theme template for the CV, but that can be copied over to a child theme and does not involve any core-JobBoardr modifications.

    What you get out of the box right now is basically an English CV (the one I used when I lived there). I am German, so I’ll provide a German CV as well. Other than that any other templates will have to be provided by users of JobBoardr.

    @rossagrant
    CVs can be generated by user input. The data then gets stored in the database and is being presented on a page that is only accessible by group admins the user is a member of. By applying for a job a user automatically joins a group. In addition to all that a CV can be downloaded as a PDF file, that is generated on the fly.

    Cheers! But as it is with self-imposed deadlines… Something came up and I’m a bit (read: like a month) behind my schedule, but I’ll post here once it’s been released.

    @talgalili I’ve just started work again on a jobboard plugin for BP. Give me a week and I’ll have a working test site up and running (if the electricity ever comes back on again in my little beach hut that is…)

    One way to do it would be to attach some groupmeta to the plugin upon group creation. That’s your basic group types right there. Then you write a group extension, that enables review capability depending on the group type. You could probably utilize activity comments for the reviews. That way you wouldn’t need to create any extra database tables.

    Not sure what the problem is. Personally I don’t use TinyMCE. Try using the media buttons next to Upload/Insert. Those work just fine for BP and NextGEN Gallery.

    Not sure if this works, but try space

    All you have to do is add this line in wp-config.php:
    define(‘WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE’, true);

    Then you’ll have access to the network page to set the multisite up.

    I was talking more about if you should use WP or WPMU. Since you won’t be using the user blogs to start with it doesn’t make sense starting with WPMU, cause it won’t exist anymore (or been integrated if you want, doesn’t really matter).

    With WP 3.0 out of the door soonish, it kinda doesn’t matter anymore as WPMU ceases to exist. Then it’ll just be a matter of turning on the Multisite part of WP.

    As for a large WP/BP community, I guess the largest one is this one, so Andy will be the person to talk to.

    There’s a bunch of helpful functions to with uploading in wp-includes/functions.php

    Yep, it’s a good idea to relocate it, but the path was still wrong. The constant BP_PLUGIN_DIR points to the BP folder. Then you have the wp-content folder, so right there’s the problem. You could use this:
    load_textdomain( ‘buddypress’, WP_PLUGIN_DIR . ‘/bp-languages/bp-family-’ . BPLANG . ‘.mo’ );

    This assumes that you have your folder structure like this:
    wp-content/plugins/bp-languages

    The right way to do it would be llike this:

    – the followers plugin provides the api
    – other plugins implement the api

    This way it doesn’t really matter what else you would like to follow…
    You coule have blog posts, whole blogs, events, jobs, members, forums, forum threads, activity items or whatever else plugin authors can come up with…

    @gregfielding

    now that’s a really nice idea! You couldn’t be a friend of a blog, but you could basically follow anything!! It’d open up a lot of possibilities if the followers plugin provided an api for other plugins to hook into… Now, if we could only get our itchy hands on the little bugger…

    When you use the automatic upgrade feature, then all custom files, including all language files in bp-languages, in the BP folders will get deleted. Actually, you could specify a folder outside of BP in which to upload your language files. No more problems when you upgrade…

    load_textdomain( ‘buddypress’, BP_PLUGIN_DIR . ‘/bp-languages/buddypress-‘ . BPLANG . ‘.mo’ );

    You want to modify that 2. parameter. Doesn’t really apply to the WPML plugin, though, I guess. Just thought I’d put it out there…

    well, good luck with your fork, mate…

    Ok, guys, this is very easy to fix, IF you have a backup of your DB tables.

    Open the backup .sql file and do a search for wp_bp_user_blogs (substitute wp_ for whatever your DB prefix is). Find the line that starts with:
    INSERT INTO `wp_bp_user_blogs`

    Copy that line, open phpMyAdmin and paste the code into the SQL tab. Hit enter and the blogs reappear.

    If you don’t have a DB backup, then you have to manually enter all your blogs into that DB table. Or write a little script that does it for you.

    Hope this helps you guys!

    I’m not sure this is really necessary. Why shouldn’t plugins that work with BP, but aren’t specifically made for it, be listed? You mentioned Default Blog Options, which can add a lot of value to a BP installation, if you allow user blogs.

    Also, forcing plugin authors to add BP into their plugin name is a bad idea. If a plugin also works on a WP install without BP, it would put some users off. A good example for that would be s2member…

    Yeah, I never even knew paginate_links existed before working with BP :)

    While I applaud your enthusiasm, I didn’t really get past the first capitalized OK in the beginning. Or maybe it was UK? Don’t really remember… Anyways, I see bp.org more as a gallery to show the world what we did with the software available, than what the message is we try to bring across with the sites we create with the software…

    Personally, I like not making much sense… I was just wondering what the Top Gear team would have to say to you… :)

    Then I read through the rest of the thread and thought that your message was kinda cool, so kudos to you! Good luck with it!!!

    First thing I thought was holy fuck, I’m being followed by fucking farmville!!! This was just something stalking me on facebook. And now it’s here…Then I got curious/brainwashed and followed the link. Thankfully, there was a database error along the way, so finally I managed to severe the hold of farmville on me… :)

    Sorry bout all the effin…

    Yep, use paginate_links, like Boone suggested. I find its quite easy to use, once you got it, that is. Have a look at the various BP loops on how they handled it. Those helped me understand it…

    It’s just a messages loop wrapped up as a widget. Very easy to make…

    EDIT:
    Here’s something I’m using on one of my sites:
    http://shabushabu.eu/shabu-inbox-widget.txt

    Download the file, rename it to shabu-inbox-widget.php and upload it to your plugins directory. Activate and put into a sidebar.
