I really like feeding back comments from the stream into the source.. that would be a really good addition to the already greatly improved activity stream!

Hey tsceso… Xevo heeft de vertaling geupdate voor 1.1.2 en kan je daarmee helpen.. stuur hem even een berichtje en dan geeft hij je het bestand.. komt goed dus!

Veel plezier met BuddyPress

[@bowromir Participant 16 years, 11 months ago]

The person who submitted the plugin simpyl put social network, buddypress etc in his tags to life on the success of our beloved BuddyPress .. No way to fix it I think.. If you want a list of BP only plugins just look on this site:

I will be using a pre-made WP theme, and modify some stuff..no need to re-invent the wheel here, since -like you said- content is more important.. That will be the main focus and not the looks (although we all love clean and nice design!)

Sorry for the double post.. something went wrong here..

[@bowromir Participant 16 years, 11 months ago]

Great to have so many people a board.. I’m not a programmer, so I will be mostly writing about marketing, tips and tricks, and re-explaining handy tips that I’ll find online (with the permission of the person who created it ofcourse).. So if I can get some bright minds a board who are willing to share some indepth BP knowledge it would be great.. With Xevo, Andrea and Brajesh who are already willing to help out, I think we could be on to something here!

I’ll keep you guys updated!

[@bowromir Participant 16 years, 11 months ago]

I’ve gone ahead with this, and already working on the site.. I am currently customizing a existing WP theme, so it should be online very soon.. I’ll keep you guys updated and in the meantime it would be really cool, if you start thinking about things you would like to see explained on the site.. If you have a Tutorial laying around (Andrea?) and would like to contribute.. please contact me!

This is a good and clear guide for you:

What might help is visiting other social networks and create a Facebook fanpage and a Twitter account and start following people who have something to do with your site’s subject.. Also you might write blogposts about your site’s subject and makes sure they are picked up by google (SEO plugin might help).. Good luck with finding users for your site.. I’m sure their out there, just have to find them and point them to your site!

I have RPXnow running on my localsite.. It allows you to login using social networks. but I don’t see any other options then that.. I’ll look further into it.. socialpreneur have you used it for anything more then simply signing in (posting status updates to social network or inviting friends?)

[@bowromir Participant 16 years, 11 months ago]

It still works on my site.. So it might be a temporary problem.. Facebook chat was giving me a hard time today, and kept logging me out.. so they are probably working on something, but I think it would be pretty stupid if they did not implement some kind of backwards compatibility or let the facebook developers know ?! I’m not sure though

[@bowromir Participant 16 years, 11 months ago]

I think this is a great startingpoint for a BuddyPress site.. I really like the Thematic framework, and I will start looking into making a child theme for this.. Thanks for all the hard work you have done with this, and I have a feeling that this could be a big step forward for BP theming-wise!

[@bowromir Participant 16 years, 11 months ago]

That is bad new Grossbouff.. I feel bad for you, that you’ve put so much work in something only to find out, the WP team has been working on a solution already.. BUT;

It seems you’ve almost finished your plugin, and I think it would be a mistake to not release it.. There are many BP powered sites out there, which are running custom code and have a big userbase.. this means they will be hesitant to upgrade BuddyPress or WordPress as fast as the hobbyists do (no offense ).. So they might really like a custom made plugin, which stays away from their core setup… I think there would be quite a few people really happy with your plugin as is, and you can continue developing a new plugin on the side…

Anyways good luck!

This looks very interesting because right now there are plugins for facebook, twitter etc, but this one combines social networks and makes it a breeze for people to invite friends from other social networks to your BP site.. I would be willing to pay for something like that in BuddyPress

[@bowromir Participant 16 years, 11 months ago]

I couldnt post due to a small issue, but like I told you before: This is an awesome modification and I’m very impressed with the overall look and feel of your site.. best custom BP work I’ve seen so far!

[@bowromir Participant 16 years, 11 months ago]

I understand now and it’s a good addition to the plugin! I would like to test it, but when I create a blog on your site the url testfacebook.guncesi.com does not seem to work.. Thanks for creating this, maybe someone else can help you add it to the FB Connect plugin or release it seperately!

[@bowromir Participant 16 years, 11 months ago]

I checked out your site but could not figure out what this does, could you please explain it a bit better? thanks

[@bowromir Participant 16 years, 11 months ago]

Check your messages, I figured it out.. but it wasn’t easy… I think we should write a new tutorial of how to translate for BP because information about this is quite hard to find and not well documented.. I’ll try to write a quick tutorial for this soon

[@bowromir Participant 16 years, 11 months ago]

this is kinda brilliant I must say.. If you would a box on your profile: What are people saying about me? which shows what you just said.. really cool addition!

[@bowromir Participant 16 years, 11 months ago]

I hope someone knows how to add this feature, because it is quite handy and all the blogs that only show a gravatar is kinda weird..

[@bowromir Participant 16 years, 11 months ago]

Haha this is weird.. I was trying to help you solve the problem and googled for the line:

missing `msgstr[]’ section

Came across this post.. I’m glad you found it, because I was about to give up.. Now when I select the language in WPMU it does not seem to work..

[@bowromir Participant 16 years, 11 months ago]

I can’t wait for this plugin to be released.. I want to use it for something else then posting classifieds but I think it will suit my needs fine

[@bowromir Participant 16 years, 11 months ago]

Wooow this makes me really happy! Thanks

[@bowromir Participant 16 years, 11 months ago]

thanks.. I’ll download that one instead

[@bowromir Participant 16 years, 11 months ago]

Thanks Chouf I’ll start working on it asap
