Worked fine for me! After the user clicks the activation email link test it and see if they can just login even though it asks for an activation key. In other words just ignor that activation key page and login in using the credentials they signed up with. Let us know if they are able to login. In reply to: BP site slow to load@micasuh
I just know from experience that I had two BP sites running on a shared server and both ranked fairly high on google at one point. The host locked down both of them and I could no longer access them because they said it consumed more than 20% of the shared servers CPU resources. They told me I would need to upgrade to a VPS minimum but I should consider a dedicated server. Both sites lasted about a year before they shut them down. I did a lot of custom work to both of those sites. Luckily I was smart enough to back them both up every week so I still have them and the custom work as well as the database. I could migrate these whenever I want but I am so busy doing custom work for other people that my own sites is not as much of a priority to me anymore. You can try out a shared server if you choose but take my advise and always back it up in case this happens to you!In reply to: BP site slow to load@micasuh
I will not argue that. A server that works well under a standard WP installation may slow drastically when BP comes into play. It definitely needs more resources than a standard WP installation. In reply to: BP site slow to load@jf_trumpet
Unless the hosting company explicitly told you that it was a dedicated server then most likely it is shared server or VPS! Ultimately a dedicated server is most ideal for BP but can be expensive! Depending on the amount of users accessing the site in a given period a VPS may serve you well.In reply to: Profanity Filter! Any suggestions?@ladydekade
After further thought you may want to add the code supplied in bp-custom.php instead of modifying the code in the plugin because if you update that plugin in the future it will be overwritten and you would have to add it back but if it is in bp-custom.php it will remain untouched! In reply to: Profanity Filter! Any suggestions?@ladydekade
You will also want to add this below the above code so it covers bbPress!add_filter('bp_get_the_topic_title', 'pccf_filter'); add_filter('bp_get_the_topic_post_content', 'pccf_filter');In that list of swear words you may find a few words with a semi-colon(;) after them. You will need to remove those semi-colons as all is required is a comma to separate the words. You can also add other swear words to that list if it missed any! Cheers!

For donuts and coffee I tested it myself and it works but if you copied and pasted that patch code from the site it won’t work because the single quotes are not right. In wp-content-filter.php at line 208 add this:add_filter('bp_get_activity_action', 'pccf_filter'); add_filter('bp_get_activity_content_body', 'pccf_filter');Save it, and in the plugins options copy and paste this great list for swear words:

In the keywords to remove! Hope that helps! In reply to: Profanity Filter! Any suggestions?@ladydekade
No I haven’t tested either one. I would suggest trying the free plugin (wp-content-filter) and adding the patch before purchasing a service. Try it out then if it doesn’t work let us know.In reply to: Favorites in Profile Activity@carmeetsroad
Study the activity-loop.php:
Take note of the scope parameter. You can pass favorites as an argument like so:<?php if ( bp_has_activities( bp_ajax_querystring( 'activity' ) . '&scope=favorites' ) ) : ?>In reply to: Profanity Filter! Any suggestions?@ladydekade
You can try this:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-content-filter/
and try patching it like this:

Let us know if that works out. The only other option I see is a paid service:

Even though the first question deals with bbPress the answer is it depends on what you mean by capabilities. You can can assign user roles like keymaster, moderator, participant, spectator, or blocked.
Yes, private messages can be sent and received. If you only want messages to be sent between a member and the admin that would require use of a plugin, or some custom code but it can be done!
Hope that answers your questions!@shaungreen
Sounds like you got some issues in your theme. Anyway if want to activate that widget simply click and drag it to the right in the appropriate widget section. On this note I am going to bed!In reply to: One group Per Member@ladydekade
It may help the rest of the volunteers answer you if you provide details on your install as listed here:

Make sure the box is checked beside show the toolbar for logged out users!
If it is checked and the toolbar is still not showing up for logged out users then you have a theme issue! In reply to: One group Per Member@ladydekade
Lesson learned! In reply to: One group Per Member@ladydekade
Sure you can hard code anything if you want too as long as you know what to do just make sure it is done in a child theme!
As far as your issues with developers, maybe you should agree to certain things with the client and if they decide to change things after the things you agreed on are done then they will have to pay a hourly fee based on what needs to be done! Don’t ever lock yourself in to do EVERYTHING they want when some clients may be indecisive because you will loose money! In reply to: One group Per Member@ladydekade
Ohhh Snappppp! lol!
Maybe your installation is the issue! In reply to: One group Per MemberIn reply to: “Join Group” button missing from Groups Directory@ladydekade
It shouldn’t be a last resort. Time is something money can never buy back in this life. If you wasted 20+ hours of your life trying to get something done on guesses and you still haven’t resolved it and you have to resort to hiring a dev then you wasted 20+ hours of your life and you still have to pay a dev. Point being 20+ hours of wasted time and the inevitable still remains. In reply to: “Join Group” button missing from Groups Directory@ladydekade
If you have done everything mercime and hnla suggested and you are still having issues then I would suggest hiring an experience developer to sort it out for you because it is just a guessing game at this point and an experienced developer can usually find and resolve the issue fairly quickly!@shaungreen
Unless you disabled the WP toolbar for logged out visitors there should still be a login link in the toolbar to the top left.@shaungreen
Do you have a sidebar login? Do you even have a sidebar or are you using a full-width template? There should also be a login in the WP toolbar unless you have deactivated it for logged out visitors.@shaungreen
I am not sure I am following you but if you deactivated that plugin and a new user can register and activate an account and login successfully then this is not a BP or bbPress issue. It needs to be taken up on that plugins support forum if you insist on using this plugin. Otherwise you may want to look into alternatives! I have used:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-force-profile/
It forces a user to complete the required xprofile fields before they can interact with the site and seem like a good deterrent against spam registrations.@shaungreen
Deactivate it and test registration/activation then report back your findings. You may want to take this up on that plugins support forum if after deactivating it your registration/activation is successful.@shaungreen
What plugin? Try my advise above by deactivating all plugins other than BP and bbPress. You need to use a process of elimination to determine if the plugin is causing the issue. Moderating memberships won’t do you much good if even after approving the user the activation fails.
