    Hi, it looks like there is a potential issue with the unsubscribe header (at least causing unexpected behavior from Outlook.com ):

    BuddyPress New User Activation Emails & Resends not working

    Sounds like your address should be https, and there are ways to improve your server’s setup to handle mail:

    Ending up in spam is not surprising. Email is complicated, and you can check the web for guides about improving email deliverability from your server. Here’s one:

    Hi @jameshh93-

    You’ll have to make sure that you’re removing the action _after_ it’s been added, which is when the activity component is loaded.

    Here’s a handy list of BP startup actions: https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/buddypress-action-hook-sequence-during-startup/

    I’d probably try something around the bp_loaded action, like this:

    add_action( 'bp_loaded', function() {
        remove_filter( 'bp_activity_post_update', 'bp_activity_make_nofollow_filter' );
    } );

    Also, I’m not sure you’re targeting the right action. The nofollow filter is applied in these cases:

    add_filter( 'bp_get_activity_content',               'bp_activity_make_nofollow_filter' );
    add_filter( 'bp_get_activity_content_body',          'bp_activity_make_nofollow_filter' );
    add_filter( 'bp_get_activity_parent_content',        'bp_activity_make_nofollow_filter' );
    add_filter( 'bp_get_activity_latest_update',         'bp_activity_make_nofollow_filter' );
    add_filter( 'bp_get_activity_latest_update_excerpt', 'bp_activity_make_nofollow_filter' );
    add_filter( 'bp_get_activity_feed_item_description', 'bp_activity_make_nofollow_filter' );

    the get_content action I’d probably try first is bp_get_activity_content_body when the activity is generated for display.

    Hi @plumis-

    A group will always have an admin (the person who created it), so I’m not sure about your criteria for deletion, but deleting groups is straightforward. You’re going to need to add some cron jobs that run every fifteen minutes, then find the groups your want to delete (based on your criteria). Something like this:

    // Get recently created groups:
    $groups = groups_get_groups();

    foreach ($groups as $group) {
    	// Delete groups with only one member.
    	$members = groups_get_group_members( array( 'exclude_admins_mods' ) );
    	if ( 1 == $members['count'] ) {
    		groups_delete_group( $group->id );
    	}
    }

    You’ll have to figure some things out, like how to schedule run the routine via cronjob (check out this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-crontrol/), and also what your criteria will be. bp-groups-functions.php has many helpful functions in it that you could use.

    Can you post the URL of a page that returns a “page not found” error?

    @dcavins

    You could probably write something, but I’d use the built-in tool at the profile > settings > general.

    I’d override the template by copying the existing template at wp-content/plugins/buddypress/src/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/single/member-header.php

    and adding it to my theme at: buddypress/members/single/member-header.php

    Add a permissions check around the block you’re wanting to restrict access to (something like this):

    <?php if ( bp_current_user_can( 'bp_moderate' ) ): ?>
    	<span class="activity" data-livestamp="<?php bp_core_iso8601_date( bp_get_user_last_activity( bp_displayed_user_id() ) ); ?>"><?php bp_last_activity( bp_displayed_user_id() ); ?></span>
    <?php endif; ?>

    Read more about the template hierarchy here: https://codex.buddypress.org/themes/theme-compatibility-1-7/template-hierarchy/

    Are you sure that get_the_ID() works in that situation (it has to be used in a loop)? What happens if you access the ID like this:

    global $post;
    $terms = get_the_terms( $post->ID, 'bp-email-type' );

    @dcavins

    Yes, anywhere that the author link is created using the the_author_posts_link() function, the link will no longer be /author/username but /members/username.

    You’ll have to read the syntax error warning to see where it is. My code starts with a <?php tag you won’t need if you’re adding it to an existing php file, for instance, so that could be tripping you up.

    Hi @baccoeur. What happens if you disable the plugin that includes Widget_Stockdio_Ticker? It sounds like the page load is being aborted before BP can save the values.

    Hi @mbv-

    The data should be slashed on the way into the database. When you call the activity content using bp_get_activity_content_body(), many filters are applied, including stripslashes_deep here: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/2.9.3/src/bp-activity/bp-activity-filters.php#L82

    If you’re displaying activity using an activity loop (like BuddyPress does in its default theme parts), then the results are as expected. If you’re accessing the data some other way, you’re going to need to apply the needed filters to it. Check out the link above to see all the filters that applied to bp_get_activity_content_body.

    Thanks for the heads up! I’ll see if the original authors have those images stored away somewhere.

    Hi @jungdchinese-

    In the short term, you can copy the .pot file out of the 2.9.2 release and replace the bad one in the 2.9.3 file. You can download the 2.9.2. .pot here: https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/export/1817522/buddypress/tags/2.9.2/buddypress.pot

    Hi, the easiest way to do this is to filter the WP “author link” so that it redirects to the member’s BP profile: https://gist.github.com/dcavins/94e4989cad997d0553e8e5db37f30b40

    If you want to change the template used by an article, it will depend on your theme. For instance, if you were using twentyseventeen and wanted to add the author’s link to the meta section at the end of a post, it looks like you’d want to create a new version of the function twentyseventeen_entry_footer(). So you could copy that function to bp-custom.php or your child theme’s functions.php file, then add the function the_author_posts_link() where you want the link to appear. in any case, adding the author link to a post is a common WP task, so I’m guessing there are lots of tutorials about how to manage that part.

    Hi @jungdchinese-

    Thanks for bringing this issue up. Yes, the .pot file has been broken in the most recent release and we’ll be fixing it as soon as we can.

    In reply to: group superuser role

    @dcavins

    Hi @louie171,

    You are correct that group permissions are mostly independent of WP roles. The exception is that WP “administrators” can basically do everything that a group admin can do, but in any group. Site admins are always allowed to do things that are protected by this permissions check: bp_current_user_can( 'bp_moderate' ). This is not limited to the groups component, though.

    I’m not sure exactly how you’d accomplish what you’re wishing to do. You could filter the bp_current_user_can( 'bp_moderate' ) check to return true in the groups component for a certain role or set of users, and then remove admin tabs that you don’t want them to have access to, using code like this: https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/navigation-api/#remove-subnav-tabs-from-group-settings

    You’ll have to be careful to make sure you’re not allowing those users to do things you don’t want them to do.

    Great! If you’ve got a working version of favoriting posts from around a site, please share a link to your Github repository or similar. It’s likely that other users are looking for the same functionality.

    Hi @gleydsonbr,

    Are you having trouble in all browsers or just specific browsers?

    @dcavins

    Keymaster

    Keep in mind that BuddyPress is developed and supported by an all-volunteer community.

    If you are in need of more specialized help or more immediate help than this forum can provide, I’d recommend that you develop a business relationship with a local WP developer. Any WP developer who understand the filters/actions approach of WordPress will be able to develop for BP.

    @dcavins

    Hi, the settings are at wp-admin > BuddyPress > Options:

    See this image: https://imgur.com/ySqPNZw

    If you’re not seeing it, then someone could have set a filter that prevents cover options. (Check for custom code or a plugin.) Or, you could be using a really old version of BP, I guess.

    @dcavins

    To clarify, you can visit the registration page and fill out the form, but submitting your registration results in no request being generated and you are redirected to your home page?

    Can you check your BP setup at wp-admin > Settings > BuddyPress > Pages and verify that there are pages assigned to each of the BP components?

    When WP_DEBUG is set to true, you’re not seeing any errors or notices in your debug.log?

    @dcavins

    Keymaster

    Is this true when uploading images in every browser, or is it limited to one browser?

    What is the error message you are getting?

    If you put the url for the image in the cover-image directory in your browser’s location bar, does it load, or is it corrupt, or maybe doesn’t load for some other reason?

    @dcavins

    Sounds like an interesting problem.

    You can get all the email situation terms by using a WP taxonomy function, like:

    $terms = get_terms( array(
        'taxonomy' => 'bp-email-type',
        'hide_empty' => false,
    ) );

    Though I’d probably spend a bit more time trying to make the built-in email templating system work. It’s pretty flexible, with the templing layer and the classes you can overload if necessary.
