Either find, or I suspect, you would have to write a plugin. I’m not aware of any plugins released that do this.
In reply to: edit login/search barUse a text editor with find-in-files; bp-core-templatetags.php.
In reply to: No List icons next to wire/activitywhat version bp you are using
?
In reply to: Plugin: Force Login for Member Pages@Peter – privacy controls are something that is coming post-v1.
In reply to: Change FontsWhat fonts? If you mean general webpage text, look at the CSS files of whichever theme you are using. If you don’t know css, I suggest you google for beginners’ tutorials.
In reply to: 404 everywhereYou need the .htaccess in the root of your WPMU install. If you don’t, that’s why you are getting errors. If you do, remove any changes you’ve made and change the permalinks structure in WPMU to one ofthe defaults.
If still not work, what versions of WpMU and BP have you installed – and where? What OS is your webserver on?
In reply to: Welcome Pack update requestNo, it doesn’t let you change any of the standard emails that a WPMU or BP site generates.
The next change I am going to make is to get a site “message” sent to new users on registration. Whilst I too need to be able to customise the emails, I’m not sure if that functionality is going to go in Welcome Pack or not. I am thinking the WPMU & BP emails need to be addressed either as patches to their respective software, or as a separate plugin that is in no way BP-specific.
This assumes, of course, that there isn’t an existing plugin out there that will do this. I haven’t searched.
It wasn’t not being able to get it working, more of an observation. Things OK so far. As time permits me to work more on it, I’ll feedback.
In reply to: Welcome Pack update requestI think changing what happens after account activation is beyond the scope of this plugin. I am eventually going to bring a welcome message feature in. You could put a link to your pages in there.
In reply to: Welcome Pack update requestFor BP there is – https://trac.buddypress.org/changeset/1324/trunk?old_path=%2F&format=zip.
But if you’re going to use cutting-edge development versions, I would strongly recommended using SVN to get the files out directly as then it’s really, really easy to upgrade to latest versions.
In reply to: Welcome Pack update requestHi Wythagy
The newest version requires WPMU 2.7 branch which is still in development (http://svn.automattic.com/wordpress-mu/branches/2.7/) as well as the latest BuddyPress (by which I mean the BuddyPress SVN trunk https://svn.buddypress.org/trunk).
If you are using BP RC1, then Welcome Pack doesn’t work full stop. Could you clarify what versions you are using so I can check stuff out? Thanks.
In reply to: Member Themes
The changes you refer to were intended to make creating member themes easier. I doubt that the format will change much anymore.
In reply to: Add fields to wp_usersThis is just not the way that WordPress MU works. Buddypress is a plugin for WordPress MU and therefore uses the standard functions that WPMU provides to store and retrieve custom database information.
In reply to: Use full name in confirmation emailsYou can’t. The username is passed by WPMU to all the relevant functions. You would have to hack several default files.
In reply to: Can I replace bp_create_excerpt with the_excerpt?Hmm bp_create_excerpt fakes an excerpt on any content, whereas the_excerpt pulls the excerpt from a blog post. I don’t think you can except to change any/all of the calls and expect them to work.
I suggest you visit https://trac.buddypress.org/newticket and submit this as a bug report. I think it would be a good idea if you attach perhaps a text file or similar to the post with an example of non-English content that triggers this error on your system, so when Andy fixes it, he has a test case.
In reply to: Changing the word blogOr make bp-custom.php into your /plugins/buddypress/ folder, and put the following code in. This way saves you messing with the default themes and also having to re-do work if you change themes in future.
<?php
define('BP_BLOGS_SLUG', 'Diary');
?>In reply to: Group avatar errorWhich, unless you use cunning, won’t be available for a while yet.
In reply to: Blog Profile FeatureShort of making a new user account which pretends to be a blog, no.
In reply to: XMLRPC support in BuddyPress with BPDEV XMLRPCNicola I think the correct approach would be to implement this into the Buddypress core code and submit patches for Andy’s review.
In reply to: Wildcard DNS and SVNo-O I have no idea what you mean by mysite.com/svn. Do you have terminal access (ssh) to your server? Otherwise even if you upload the ZIPs from any SVN to your server, it’s pretty much the same as using RC1 (albeit with more bug fixes;)).
In reply to: fbconnect pluginThe facebook connect plugin is a) not supported by anyone and b) was written in very short time one afternoon, as I understand it. The point to take away is that it is not supported, not updated – use at your own risk.
In reply to: Customizing welcome mail signatureIt is a WPMU question. You can edit *some* of the email text in one of the admin pages somewhere. Everything else can be amended by plugins. My Welcome Pack addon will eventually be updated to let you change the text of all emails sent.
In reply to: Use the \”bp user link\” in a wp themebp_core_get_userlink()
no meant two things. dont worry about admin thing but there’s an error in the code – populate() doesn’t take arguemtn
You’ve gone and tempted fate now. Here’s the first something I noticed in bp-example-classes.php:
function bp_example_tablename( $id = null ) {
if ( $id ) {
$this->id = $id;
$this->populate( $this->id );
}
}
/**
* populate()
*
* This method will populate the object with a row from the database, based on the
* ID passed to the constructor.
*/
function populate() {
global $wpdb, $bp, $creds;
if ( $row = $wpdb->get_row( $wpdb->prepare( "SELECT * FROM {$bp->example->table_name} WHERE id = %d", $this->id ) ) ) {
$this->field_1 = $row->field_1;
$this->field_2 = $row->field_2;
$this->field_3 = $row->field_3;
}
}
I think, but aren’t sure and am not going to go back to test right now, that I have to move the call that created the admin menu – it wasn’t working out of the box.
