    How would this new forum format work if there were dozens, if not hundreds of groups?

    One more suggestion….

    Is it possible to remove the Buddypress Badge Start and Buddypress Badge End from the code?

    Those parts actually end up displaying above and below the badge on some other websites I’ve tried to past the badge on.

    Any thoughts on how this could work with MU?

    I’m playing with 1.3 and it’s working great…

    2 suggestions:

    1. Create an option in the admin menu to hide the names of the profile fields. Most of the fields are pretty self explanatory anyway and the extra words just clutter things up.

    2. Create an extra field for users to type in a short message or description, giving them some other way to personalize their badge.

    It looks great warut!

    Is there some other place we should be getting this from?

    1.2 is what’s in the directory.

    Getting better…now I can see “Badge” under the profile menu…but when I click on THAT, I get redirected back to the front page…

    There is a problem with version 1.8…it prevents blog creation.

    It was fine…then I upgraded this morning and tried to create a new blog. no luck. The creation page is there, but, when you hit “create blog”, it takes you to an empty blog directory page (and the buddypress admin bar is gone). In the backend, the new blog is there. But, if I try to go to it’s dashboard, An error message comes up saying that the blog was not installed correctly, please contact administrator.

    I deactivated the plugin and could then create blogs fine.

    So I deleted if and loaded in a fresh copy…thinking that somehow I messed up the settings. Nope. The fresh copy kills blog creation too.

    I’m not on the default theme, but not of the registration/blog creation commands are different.

    Anyone else experiencing this?

    Are you having any luck with this?

    I’m using a hacked-up child version of dev premium’s BP-Daily. It ain’t free to play with unfortunately.

    If it isn’t working with mine, patrick’s, or the widget theme, it’s probably not a specific theme issue…

    No…I use a custom template.

    But everything else that’s in the profile menu works fine and other plugins haven’t cause this…

    I just gave this plugin a try and I’ve got a problem. When you’re on a member’s page and you hit “Profile”

    site/members/name/profile – you get redirected back to the front page.

    @boone, these are probably already on your list, but here’s 3 quick suggestions.

    1. Make the width of the message/subject boxes a percentage. My custom theme cuts off the ends. :)

    2. On the message “You’ve been invited by NAME to join…”, make the NAME a link, to open that member’s profile page in a new window.

    3. We need to be able to delete old invitations.

    And I’m excited to see the Widget version. I’m hoping it has text that can be easily tweaked. I want mine to say “Invite your friends to join”

    Great work Boone.

    I’ve been looking for something like this too…from what I can tell in these forums, nothing exists that will work. The plugin is this one https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-member-filter/

    But, it doesn’t work with current MU or BP versions.

    In theory, this could enable search menus for members by any profile fields…location, profession, hobbies, etc.

    Along these lines…I haven’t seen much discussion about spammers lately.

    Am I still the only one getting 100+ per day?

    Please please please someone figure out how to make buddypress’s registration page reference the banned domain list!

    So I tried to explain this to my father…who can barely use email.

    Pretend you’re in a room with 1,000 people that you don’t know. Now, you might end up making friends with 10 of them, and doing business with 2. The problem is that it would take you a week of shaking hands and starting conversations to find those connections.

    Social Networks/Communities…like Buddypress/Facebook/LinkedIn etc. turn that week into 10 minutes.

    To me, improved community-wide searching and easy navigation by profile fields (can someone please load in locations?) are the most important areas where BP is clunky and needs improvement. We need to focus on turning that 10-minutes into 5, while being ever-more-user-friendly and intuitive in the process.

    The trend is that all of these networks will share information with one another, so much so that, in time, walls will be torn down and eventually, “Social Networks” will be a big mosh of everything…made up of smaller topic-focused communities like each of ours.

    BP gives each of us a chance to create a niche within this great mosh. We shouldn’t try to BE the mosh, but simply be the most efficient and user-friendly communities within it.

    Looks interesting so far.

    1 feature request: Allow an option for a SIMPLE badge…a 64×64 or 128×128 logo (like a social-share badge) that simply links back to the member’s profile page.

    Think like a bit “T” for twitter or “F” for facebook that you see everywhere.

    @anointed,

    I’m having this problem too and @boone’s code wouldn’t work in my structure.

    Have you found any other solution?

    Do you have your blogs “post to the main blog”?

    Thanks!

    Is it possible to embed an album in a blog post or on a blog page? Like a Gallery?

    Most of the Gallery and Slideshow plugins are WAY too complicated for the casual user to use. And it doesn’t make sense for a blogger to have to track pictures in two places.

    If there was a simple way to insert an album and a couple of sleek display options, this would dominate…

    Nicely done @boone

    Quick feedback…Is there a way to include some kind of automatic link to the inviter’s profile page?

    I’m thinking that a lot of my users are going to want to say “Hey there, come check out my awesome Profile Page at ….. where you can can see my latest blog post, twitter & facebook action, and pretty pics of my kids..”

    Ideally, it would be cool to have a checkbox that would insert a link to that member’s profile page: “Check out my ___ Profile”

    Thanks again boone.

    Thanks @mariusooms

    I’d like it just on the directory activity page, which is my front page.

    My slider code is simply:

    if ( function_exists( ‘get_smooth_slider’ ) ) {

    get_smooth_slider(); }

    Where exactly do I put this code?:

    <?php do_action( ‘bp_before_directory_activity_content’ ) ?>

    <?php if ( function_exists( ‘get_smooth_slider’ ) ) {

    get_smooth_slider(); } ?>

    If it’s in post.form.php, it shows up on member profile pages, not the front page…
