In reply to: SEO for BuddyPress
@bphelp thanks for sharing the link.
I’ve come across that thread before. Unfortunately the solution no longer works. Perhaps it did work at some point in the past but not with today’s version of the plugin and BP 1.7.
In reply to: Verified accounts?@modemlooper I know it isn’t rocket science to know what the plugin will do but any chance you have a demo?

In reply to: [Resolved] Global avatar functionJust to add, at larger width/height sizes that function seems to assume a thumb size so you have to specify
type=fullalong with your width and height or you’ll get a blurry photo. In reply to: [Resolved] Global avatar function@m1000 perfect! thank you.
In addition to displaying the favorite count under each activity item, it would be nice to display a list of usernames who have favourited that item. Each usernames could be linked to the corresponding profile page. Similar to how the Instagram feed currently looks.
I think this would add a new level of engagement to the activity stream.
Hi @mercime
I am using my own child theme of bp-default. The annoying thing about building your own child theme is when stuff like this happens. My line of thought right now is global.js is loading after the HTML form which is why you see the form appear and then disappear (as soon as global.js is loaded the hide functions kick in). I’d be interested to take a look at the fix. Any ideas how I could find the trac ticket without manually searching through all of the closed tickets?
You may have already checked but have you looked in your spam folder? Could be in there.
Using a fresh install of WP 3.5.1. Tried 3 different versions of BP (1.6.1 / 1.6.4 / 1.7.1 ). Aside from BP, no plugins activated accept BP Follow. Same outcome each time.
Can you remember the version you saw this problem on? Considering you say the issue was only on an old version for you, I wonder if there was ever a trac ticket which resolved the issue? Any information you have that will help me track down the cause will be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
Resolved. It was in fact a problem with my (customised) global.js. No one else should have the issue so I won’t go into an explanation of how I fixed.
Thanks anyway!
In reply to: Modifying the Buddypress Registration PageWhen you’re creating your profile fields you can drag each field up or down which will help control the order of them.
The email address, username, password and repeat password fields are part of register.php. If you want to change the order of how these are displayed then you will need to open that file and reorder them manually.
In theory, the two column set-up could be achieved via CSS (again the markup used can be found in register.php), so you wouldn’t need to know how to write PHP.
In reply to: BuddyPress 1.7.1Upgraded from 1.6.5 and everything seems to have worked perfectly. Thanks, great job!
In reply to: Bug Report: Default Name Field GenerationYou can submit your bug report here. This way the developers will catch sight of it.
Open member-loop.php and you will see instructions on how to add custom profile fields such as Location. It is quite straightforward to do.
In reply to: pages: register and activate? The activate page can be used to activate an account manually. It has a text input field which lets members enter a key to activate their account. It may be useful to some site admins who need to activate accounts via the front end.
I see no need for the page myself.
In reply to: DOCTYPE whitespaceHumm, all I can think of is your functions.php and bp-custom.php. Make sure any white space is removed from the top of these files.
Perhaps before you do anything else, try reverting to the default theme and disabling all plugins. Then once the problem has gone, work backwards, first by activating your plugins one at a time. Then activate your custom theme. This is probably your best bet to catch the culprit.
In reply to: Private Message Button in Member List Loop@shanebpdev
For the life of me I cannot figure out why it doesn’t work for the friends loop. Am I missing something glaringly obvious?
Anyway I thought why not just build the link and throw it directly in the friends template?
echo wp_nonce_url( bp_loggedin_user_domain() . bp_get_messages_slug() . '/compose/?r=' . bp_core_get_username( bp_get_member_user_id() ) );In reply to: Private Message Button in Member List Loop@shanebp you mean the bp_directory_members_item is different? That is the same in both the members directory and the friends list (both use the members loop)…
In reply to: Private Message Button in Member List LoopInterestingly I just tried this outside of the members loop. It doesn’t work on the friends list page. What is different about the friends loop and the members loop for this not to work? Humm…
In reply to: Private Message Button in Member List LoopThanks for that! I can see now you’ve created a new function display_private_message_button which hooks on to action bp_directory_members_item in the members loop. Sorry for being slow, i got there in the end :}
In reply to: Check if current page is the login pageOf course, I should have mentioned I am using a custom page. I installed the Theme My Login plugin so can use /login as the login page.
Thanks for the links – is_page( 42 ), is_page( ‘login’ ), is_page_template( ‘login-form.php’ ), is_page_template( ‘page-login.php’ ) all didn’t work.
I pretty much can check for every page in BuddyPress except the login. I’ll keep trying…
In reply to: [Resolved] Can't change permalink issueTry going to your trash to make sure you’ve fully deleted the register page. You can then go into and edit the register page that has the -2 slug
In reply to: DOCTYPE whitespacethe DOCTYPE declaration is usually in your theme’s header.php file. Try looking at that first to see if you can remove any spaces at the very top of the file.
In reply to: Check if current page is the login pageThanks @mercime although that article talks of wp-login.php (the WordPress login page). This isn’t much use as I am using a custom login page such as example.com/login
In reply to: Private Message Button in Member List LoopIs it possible to explain how the code works?
