In reply to: [Resolved] New users don't receive activation emails
Also, perhaps the emails are being sent but falling into user’s spam folders. Perhaps ask them to check
In reply to: Passing user role to custom xprofile fieldHi @noizeburger, glad you finally got this working. I’m sure your tutorial will be helpful to many people too. I especially like the last snippet which shows you how to disable the editing of certain fields on the edit profile screen!
In reply to: Related PostsNot that I know of although it is easily done. You could query the activity table to find all entries related to a particular entry. How you define related will determine your query. For instance, you could query by action (new private message, new member registration and so on) or you could query by component, date recorded and so on
In reply to: Custom Homepage. Please helpDefinitely possible although it would need some custom code to accept a value from each user so that a different list of blog posts specific to each user can be displayed.
In reply to: How to Remove Public MessagingCan’t you just disable it in WP Admin?
In reply to: Hide 'view all matched members' messageView all 9 matched Members – See more at:
Where does this come from? I’ve never seen it before.
Are you using a plugin to generate that text? I can’t find it anywhere in BP.
In reply to: Hide 'view all matched members' messageViewing member 1 to 9 (of 9 active members)
I’m familiar with this text but where does the following text originate from? Are you using a plugin to generate it?
View all 9 matched Members – See more at:
You could hide it with CSS
display: none;or remove it at the source, via a filter perhaps. In reply to: Activity Stream on PageHi @finchkelsey
Have you tried posting your requirements in the BP Jobs Forum? If you’re looking for a BP developer available for hire then that is a good place to start
In reply to: Activity Stream on PageYou can copy the activity loop into your homepage template
<?php if ( bp_has_activities( bp_ajax_querystring( 'activity' ) ) ) : ?> <?php while ( bp_activities() ) : bp_the_activity(); ?> <?php locate_template( array( 'activity/entry.php' ), true, false ); ?> <?php endwhile; ?> <?php endif; ?>See https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/loops-reference/the-activity-stream-loop/ for more information on the activity loop.
In reply to: [Resolved] Help translating a string in .po file@danbp thanks for letting me know! updating the source file was needed!
In reply to: Guys….. What is the point of including filters if…@shanebp – Re 2: dynamic strings would certainly have some advantages. I wouldn’t throw a tantrum if the core devs decided to develop something like this 🙂
In reply to: Guys….. What is the point of including filters if…@alealealeo this only applies to activity stream items. Think of it as a snapshot of what happened at that point in time – text strings are written to the database. When querying the database, that info isn’t going to change – regardless of any filters or translations you’ve set up.
In reply to: Music on Profile Page@1missrodnee rtMedia uses mediaelement.js (which comes with core WordPress since 3.6). I do believe you can set
autoplay="true"on the mediaelement.js audio player. Have you tried asking the question in the rtMedia forum? their support is usually very good.@macpresss I’m sure within the
bp_activity_action()function the various items will be filterable usingadd_filter()or translatable via a language file. If not then perhaps you can raise a Trac ticket to have the various items broken down into discrete filterable parts. In reply to: Codex (conditional) template tag page MIA@nowton right, I see! If you find a page is in need of updating you can help out by flagging the page. See ‘flagging articles’ in https://codex.buddypress.org/participate-and-contribute/codex-standards-guidelines/
In reply to: Codex (conditional) template tag page MIA@nowton do you mean the link I posted to the template tag reference? That shouldn’t be happening. I can click through and view the page without problems.
In reply to: Codex (conditional) template tag page MIAThe Codex is being overhauled and updated regularly which may account for the broken links you’re seeing. This is the page you were probably looking for:
In reply to: Music on Profile Page@1missrodnee with rtMedia (used to be called BuddyPress Media) you can upload audio files and have them play on your profile. https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-media/
In reply to: Getting an array error@shanebp whoever worked on it looks like they wanted to exclude the admin user account from the member list perhaps?
In reply to: Feedback: BP is getting better by each release-cycleVery nice design – just be aware members are free to enter longer usernames or names so that could have an impact on how the page element looks. e.g. would name span over two lines? would that impact on the nice uniformity of each row you have in the screenshot? etc etc.
Avatar sizes will be constant of course and the length of the active time ago text won’t change either so those page elements will be good no matter what.
In reply to: mandatory fields not being validatedhave you tried seeing if the problem happens with Twenty Thirteen?
In reply to: mandatory fields not being validatedWhich theme are you using.
In reply to: Can member profiles be made public (and linkable)?Member profile are publicly accessible. URLs look like
example.com/members/username. With reference to edit rights to certain pages, this doesn’t happen out-of-the-box – but with some minor customisations it will be possible.Theme compatibility lets you use BuddyPress with themes built for WordPress. So build your theme and when you activate or deactivate BP it will continue work seamlessly:
@hnla Yep – I found no sign of it either.
