So I feel I am being lead away from HTML and towards a new art of php.
Making an html link, calling the image, adding the link, placing it, sizing it, all makes sense to me. But working that php into this, or with this somehow, or re-writting this in php, still doesn’t make sense to me, sorry.
Thanks Hugo.
Sorry for being a noob, ,but my plan was to just add a text widget to the sidebar and create a graphic with a link.
How would I put the php code into an html link?Something that has just occured to me, with what I am trying to do.
Is it possible that we can make this happen for member list in Private groups only ?or even friends within a private group
I found this https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/profile-fields-in-members-list-on-groups-page/
but I don’t know where I need to put the code (obviously I need to edit it for the name of my field)Oh! and can I do this via my child theme?
Maybe have a look at the “Buddypress Followers plugin”
yes thank you – close.
So this is what happens when you haven’t set your Activity page in the Buddypress pages setup.
I’m sorry !
this has to be somethinng I’ve done right!
Sorryon the buddypress default theme, at the top of the right hand column, there is a box that includes your avatar, a link to your profile and a logout button.
When you click on the link to your profile, it takes you to your profile tab on your profile page.
I would like it to take me to my Activity tab, on my profile page.I updated one of my ttest sites and activity comments started giving me errors, haven’t looked into it further.
Close this, I put everything back one by one, cleared cache in the browser and in the WP_Cache plugin. I also edited out of my htaccess something that had been put there by host support people:
deny from all
I’m not sure what part of this process did it, but it worked.
I’d still like to know whether SSL would help, but I’m going to work through this blog post at the moment : http://wp.tutsplus.com/tutorials/security/best-practices-for-preventing-buddypress-spam-user-registrations/
how about enabling SSL for registration? Would it work? how do I do it?
or 1.5.7 ?
@shawn38 that is fantastic, thank you !
same
It was these guys that did it http://studio66design.com/2010/03/buddypress-group-documents/#comments
and I have no idea why it was pulled from circulation, I’d be interested for someone to shed some light on this.
(Maybe a security issue I know nothing about ?)
I have it on one of my websites, so if this is still what you need, get in touch. It wont let you choose your sidebar shown, but Dynamic Widgets plugin will let you show specific widgets for certain pages.
ok – if the members page (tab) was just a page, I know I could add a shortcode to it to present the members list plugin results, but the members page is not an editable page in wordpress, so I can’t.
Am I best to remove the members tab (by hacking out ??????) , then create a new page for members, ,where I can add the shortcode simply?
@mercime thank you for your confirmation
I dug deep and thought I had the default theme, but for some reason it wwasn’t pulling the default theme from the buddypress plugin, but a default theme from the themes folder.
So I copied over the bp-default theme to the themes folder and it worked.Thank you
FYI: I have deactivated ALL plugins, switching them back on starting with Buddypress, the problem was there straight away.
Is this affected by a setting on the server?
It’s two completely different installs, versions of WP and BP, both with the same problem.First of all, thank you for helping me towards a simple fix for comments.
However, what had drawn my attention to this was not the threading of comments to blog posts, but threading of comments on my activity stream.
So it appears thta my post comments now work, but activity stream comments don’t .
Is there a seperate option for these?
Andrea – I’m guessing youve had a good play with this Beta now!?! Has it caused you any problems?
