    The BP forums is an embedded bbpress offering, have you tried it to see how it works?

    Where are you looking for something? The forums are part of the groups, the option to enable a forum is presented when you create a group, or you can edit a group and enable a forum for it.

    Don’t start deleting stuff at this stage, it unnecessarily drastic. Earlier you answered yes to setting permalinks so I’m assuming that you didn’t get a message informing you that it couldn’t be written and showing you the code that would need t be added manually.

    I would have a read through this page in the WP codex:

    https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks

    and see if any of that helps before deleting stuff or looking at other areas.

    Looks like you probably haven’t quite setup BP as a subfolder or running on a blog that isn’t the primary one quite correctly.

    I also note that you are using IIS so are you absolutely sure you are using an .htaccess file?

    Have you configured permalinks? select one (dashboard -> general -> settings)other than that which is already set and save. If you get an error message that the .htaccess file couldn’t be created or saved to it might indicate the problem.

    A ‘catchall’ is configured at your email server it’s not a WP/BP feature for example I use Google domain email accounts a lot as they are easier for clients at times, with these and with my own I can set one account ”info’ / ‘admin’ as an account that receives any email directed to mydomain.com so even if there isn’t an account set up for joeblogs@mydomain.com if an email is sent to that address it will end up in the account I’ve instructed, just means I can’t run out of email addresses.

    Like what I did say!

    Or Roelant dive into your DB and remove the user from there.

    For testing purposes it’s useful to configure a catchall on an email account then you can make up email users as you go along and their email will be dropped into the catchall account you specify.

    There are many area of the current site under review and changes already written awaiting site access, so you can expect things to improve shortly.

    A little puzzled here so you activated the account? but couldn’t sign in as you had forgotten the password? Did you try editing the user and changing the password ?

    Link to site doesn’t help a great deal as your groups are both ‘Private’ so can’t see anything.

    Try setting up a fresh test group as ‘public’ and enabling forum on it and see if that works and allows topics to be created and listed.

    Certainly was a help, thanks! Had been playing with this aspect yesterday trying to use activity-loop.php to control different page views for the main activity loop but this aspect had alluded me.

    So it’s possible to do:

    if ( bp_has_activities( bp_ajax_querystring( ‘activity’ ).’per_page=14&action=activity_update,new_blog_comment’));
    which works nicely.

    I had worked out the per_page concatonation but thought it not possible to have more than one action.

    For reference this also provides me with control over the activity loop pulled into the index page:
    <?php if(bp_is_front_page()): ?>
    <?php bp_has_activities(‘per_page=6’); ?>
    <?php endif; ?>

    Can you explain further what you are after? Generate single links to pages? the menu functionality in WP 3.0 will list all pages created and allow you to create individual menus with selected pages added to them.

    Daniel, technically you should have labeled that link to your site as NSFW or PNSFW.

    The adminbar is controlled from the adminbar.css stylesheet located in the bp-default themes _inc/css/ folder

    You would need to change #wp-admin-bar from position:fixed; to position:absolute;

    References to link colours can be found by scrolling down and looking for ‘#wp-admin-bar li a’ ‘color:#eee;’ and changing it to something more suitable.

    ‘Invite Anyone’ and sibling ‘Group Email Subscription’ should/seems ok I have them running on a live test site running WP 3.01 and BP 1.2.5

    ‘oEmbed’ runs on a local test install without any issues.

    Best thing is to run each on a test install and check through them.

    There is a need at present for dashboard links if one is running WP 3.0 single blog (unless one wants to have to ad the WP meta or type at address bar) I keep a function that allows me to add to adminbar links similar to that which you describe.

    You may like to consider a twist or variation on your code to include the new WP 3.0 nav menus?

    This example would add the ability for users to add / construct menus from the dashboard and place them on the adminbar:

    http://pastebin.com/qJwURYxm

    It’s not checked as such and names need adjusting etc.

    Word of caution I have already dropped a note to the bluehost affiliate manager about your last 12 spam posts on this forum, I wouldn’t advise you make any further ones!

    😳

    If you want the CSS that can display everything correctly you will need to pose the question to Deep Thought.

    If you have more specific issues that might be solved quicker then ask away, can’t claim deep thought more like Fleeting Notion.

    Hmm escaping code has mucked up rendering and edit ability!!

    Your pate bin code still shows the same sidebar call does my version not work? or perhaps this version so that you don’t needlessly render markup if no widgets in area

    <?php if(function_exists(‘dynamic_sidebar’) ) : ?>
    <div>
    <?php dynamic_sidebar(“Profile Groups Area”) ; ?>

    Yep sorry I was referring to changing login name which adds to obscurity by leaving Admin as the visible user yet one would need to know the actual and different login name, it works after a fashion except for the fact that the new real login is shown on one of the @mention links but not all.

    As for the method used to gain access not sure, all you can do for the moment is change every password and then keep a clsoe watch. Maybe others have some other suggestions.

    Very often with errors in either scripting or markup the reported point of error is not necessarily where the actual problem starts from it’s just where the validation finally fails to be able to parse the logic.

    You are saying ‘IF’ something then do something and we are waiting for that to be finished, however you are only showing a snippet of code out of context which does mean one can only base things on what is shown.

    looks like you have lifted the code that is used for the ‘if no widgets run the add widgets error markup’ that is really used more for distributed themes, the ! ‘not’ operator is useful for saying if these functions don’t exist and can’t be called then fallback to this following markup/script. Your code as written needs endif;

    You can write the dynamic sidebar call in a more straightforward manner?

    if ( function_exists(‘dynamic_sidebar’) )
    dynamic_sidebar(“Profile Groups Area”) ;

    The WP codex page gives more info:
    https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/dynamic_sidebar

    edit/ beaten to it :) check that link as it will have the best advice.

    Simple security through obscurity firstly; don’t use the name Admin change it to something else ensure a really strong password, was yours strong before?

    this is an example of a strong password and would take a long time to brute force:

    aktE49!-Fr2?*

    If you are not using a mix of alpha numeric characters, upper and lower case, and symbols then your password is essentially weak, and password strength indicators are not necessarily that reliable if they simply say strong because a character is entered more than 8 x.

    I would check carefully all folders for odd files, check server logs if possible, change any other passwords especially your DB, FTP.

    Also chek the WP forums and codex for further information that may be available.

    When you say type in url from a neighbours computer what exactly are you typing? what means have you set up so that your LAN responds to http requests, only ask as you state your not a super tech but you do have basic network knowledge? You have a fixed IP ? Your firewall,router passes port 80 requests through to your server? You arae aware that ‘localhost’ is a loopback address it can only ever be seen from the machine you’re working on and refers to that machine, localhost never broadcasts as it were to a WAN and can’t be seen from outside.

    It ought to. Specificity is almost likely the culprit.

    All rulesets are afforded a ‘number’ that represents their ‘Weight’ or specificity; the specificness of that rules properties over another, it’s calculated from the selectors which have various numbers assigned them.

    To test try adding in antecedent selectors – ancestors or parents of the selector being styled until you find control, so :

    body#bp-default a , body#bp-default #container h2 a:hover

    Play around, add further selectors to the mix to increase the weight if necessary, see if that gives you control, then you will know what the issue is
