Not so, works fine running twentytwelve, have you tested with this theme and all plugins deactivated?
In reply to: error 500 by group activatingWe can’t see a sites dashboard! copy the error here, but first ensure this isn’t a theme or plugin issue by disabling all plugins and activating a theme such as twentytwelve.
In reply to: Some minor changes (e.g. Groups = Projects)Because I tried that!
? what does that mean? tried what!? You need to be a little more forthcoming with detail otherwise help is hard to give. As per the other thread both I and modemlooper did point you to the BP codex documentation, while not perfect it does have information / guides on working with child themes and how to work with BP theme compatibility templates, have you read those? If so what did you try that failed? With BP template approach using ‘pages’ you can change the page titles by simply re-naming the ‘page’ in the WP backend and ensuring you select that page in the BP settings for ‘pages’.
Why are you posting here? The thread you have running on WP support says this is a install / hosting issue, just because BP is installed I’m afraid doesn’t mean it’s a BP issue, the WP thread is guiding you as best as can be you must persist in that thread not cross post to forums.
In reply to: [Resolved] BP default theme deleted?and link to the video please so it can be checked for accuracy.
In reply to: [Resolved] BP default theme deleted? Why on earth would anything say delete bp-default!!?? I would disregard that video and refer to the official docs here only.
Download a fresh copy of BP to get back bp-default.
In reply to: Problems with theme compatibilityLikely you have BP templates copied over from the template pack attempt still in your theme if so remove them so that the theme has no BP templates in it at all then see how BP theme compat looks like with the theme. If/when you need to modify any BP templates check the codex for guides on how to do this.
In reply to: Responsive Theme [role] Problem? Why are you wanting to do this? What is wrong with the aria roles? Are you saying you want all those elements to have a landmark role ‘main’?
All BP templates are over-loadable (copyable) to your theme where you may edit them, refer to the codex for guides on how to do this.
Not necessarily related, well in a sense 🙂 but John is lead dev for both projects, and although you say it’s BP related as ‘groups’ related I think the problem and fix probably does rest with how bbp is handling things ( could well be wrong though).
You have raised this on bbpress support and John has responded so let that thread run.
In reply to: Artisteer Buddypress theme compatibilityThe docs can always take improvement, and I think no one involved with them would claim they are anywhere close to covering all that’s required, but writing them can be very time consuming . The theme compat ones that exist, I thought pretty much covered the detail necessary, but as in all things can always stand reviewing and improving.
In your opening post it struck there was a possible level of confusion between the older approach to custom themes using template pack plugin and theme compat as of 1.7. ?Essentially if allowing BP to run with the newish theme compatibility ( i.e you do not select bp-default theme, or you do not have any bp directories in the theme root e.g /my-theme/members/index.php ) then BP component screens should fit to match a themes content area. In this sense one doesn’t need now to worry about the markup structure as BP uses what exists in page.php (or any of the proscribed file names it looks for first) So here the important question is to ask whether it’s possible you are mixing BP templates i.e some in your theme root, some in theme compat directory – in your theme the only place you should have BP templates is located within a top level directory /my-theme/buddypress/ or /my-theme/community/
In your page.php example the important section is the get_template part that includes the page content loop that’s where /what BP grabs to inject it’s data to.
Now what isn’t known is how your chosen theme is managing styles for those sidebars, but if you want absolute control in being able to configure a primary template file for BP screens then you can copy page.php rename to ‘buddypress.php’ and locate that in /my-theme/buddypress/ now in that file you may call specific sidebars as in get_sidebar(‘buddypress’) along with a new sidebar sidebar-buddypress.php
At the end of the day I think the initial issue to resolve is the (possible) confusion between the two ways of managing BP templates and that you probably want to ensure that full theme compatibility is being allowed to run ( again the bottom line to ensure that this is the case is that one has NO BP templates in the theme whatsoever, letting BP handle injecting it’s content via whatever files the theme provides )
In reply to: Own style buddypress.csswell ‘community’ always did exist as a location but it’s preference I guess, personally I like ‘community’ as it denotes what the directory is for but it’s half a dozen of one six of the other.
In reply to: Own style buddypress.css@modemlooper
Yep, I put a patch in then beat Boone around the head until he wrote it correctly and committed 🙂https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4949
Was planning to update those template compat codex pages to include mention of this.
The correct way is to sort out your email zone records, reverse PTR records, SPF records etc this is not a BP issue I’m afraid, nor a WP one.
In reply to: Artisteer Buddypress theme compatibilityA source of documentation that just works? not sure what that means , there are a couple pf codex docs that go into fair detail regarding how to deal with theme compatibility and customising not sure we can make them any more explicit really, there is a certain amount of knowledge one just needs as regards generic PHP amd markup in order to be able to work effectively for ‘clients’
My major problem is that my page.php and index.php both have no div tags
Not really sure what you mean here, think you need to explain in detail what file structure and locations you are trying to work with before trying to see where you are getting confused. In reply to: Own style buddypress.cssAs of 1.8 you should be able to locate the file in /my-theme/community/css/ or /my-theme/buddypress/css/
In reply to: Register Page Blank in Latest Version (1.8)and what’s the result if you use a known compatible theme e.g twentytwelve?
In reply to: Installed / Updated Buddy Press..now thisYou shouldn’t be showing php error notices on a production sites, only piping to logs, however I see no notice!
? earlier you stated your script memory limit set in php.ini was 256MB, that is the place any changes should be made if you have access to the ini file, but yes you can define a new limit in wp-config – won’t always work, depends on the host setup –
You should be able to effectively disable any plugin or theme by renaming, renaming a theme ought to simply force WP to drop back to theme default usually twentytwelve, from there you can get back in and adjust / correct things
@omoesiri A very old thread that is probably resolved, as on the other thread/s links removed do help but the forum isn’t an opportunity to drop backlinks around the place.
@omoesiri Do help by all means but the links to your register page are unnecessary and removed.
In reply to: Customizing BuddyPress registration.php file?Did you check all directories under /bp-legacy/buddypress/ ? The template files do exist.
In reply to: Custom Post Types and Buddypress Activiy/posting@alexfads this is a public forum, if you want help please post an open question, it is not good form to call out individual members for help.
In reply to: Author PostsI think if you are using this plugin that the appropriate place to ask these further questions is on their support.
In reply to: Multisite URLs UNDER Buddypress Scheme?@espellcaste you are resurrecting a whole series of very old threads, for little reason, can you leave old threads alone and focus on newer ones please.
