In reply to: changing admin name block access
you need to change it back and then add the username you are going to change it to, to the site admins, then you can change you name again lol
it happened to me and then i realised what i had to do
In reply to: I have fallen at the first hurdleyou havent uploaded the files properly, upload all the files in bp-core again
In reply to: Hide a specific blog from being shownsorry i think you misunderstood me, i am wanting a modified version of the recent blog posts widget, allowing more than one widget to be displayed each with its own options such as only showing posts from a certain author or blog, or even tags,
In reply to: How to edit bp profile datano problem i hope it works well for you until the component for editing profiles is developed
In reply to: Hide a specific blog from being shownim meaning more of a customised widget, i want all my blogs available to search engines to help seo
see my post in the other topic
In reply to: ‘Recent Posts’ widget modificationits also possible to change the statement above instead of removing $counter ++;
this way i changed it to $var < 3
meaning the first 3 posts show excerpts and the rest just show the title
im still looking for a way to only show posts from a certain user or blog (or userS or blogS), we should be able to add lots of these widgets and have control of the excerpt showing or not or amount from the widget thing)
then you can feature certain blogs or users and have it set to maybe just one post, i think it would help tempt the visitors to checkout the blog/user if they can see the latest post rather than just a static advertisment if you were to just write a text link to ‘feature’ a blog/user, anyways any help would be much appriciated
In reply to: Hide a specific blog from being shownhehe, i am trying to find this too so that i can make widgets such as blog posts from: x user, or posts from blog: x blog.
that way i can list my recent posts AND THEN site wide posts
ill let you know when i work out how to do it hehe, i have to hack it myself
In reply to: How to edit bp profile datathere is a way to edit the users data, i have a plugin installed that allows you to go to users and then click a link and it logs you in as the selected user, obviously this means you can edit thier profile, the link only shows up for the site admin
the plugin is: user switching – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/user-switching/
the only annoyance is that once you switch users it means you must login again to get back to admin or watever, i.e. it doesnt allow switching back and forth between accounts
it does help greatly though, hope this helps you
In reply to: WordPresswp commerce works fine in mu what are you talking about
In reply to: Theme and plugin requestsi would like to see member themes changeable on a per user basis so they can have their own skins as such, and also allow them to create their own, i think we need to collaborate as to what the user can change and what they cant, it would be nice to allow them selected css,
i would also like to see the modules changeable in a drag and drop kinda way and allow the user to choose which modules they do or do not want to use,
im interested in a love plugin which allows users to post a little love icon with thier wire posts but i could also see this being extended to comments, i have made a request for it before but got no replies so visit my profile for the topic,
last fm integration would be majorly cool i think, as it would rival many of the ‘apps’ out there on the larger social networks. building on this area of things you could also add twitter, etc. so i guess what im trying to say is focus on the users ‘lifestream’
when the user logs in i want them to go straight to the dashboard but the dashboard should have things like pending freind requests, groups to join, latest comments, profile stats (incuding who visited thier profile), options and such like, and an aggregation of thier freinds activity updates. when i visit my site i dont care what user a,b and c are up to im just interested in what my freinds x,y and z did recently,
so it would be very useful to have these widgets in the dashboard, that way everything is centralised for the user to do things,
another thing i thought would be useful was profile privacy options, allowing members to discriminate based on age eg, users over X cant visit profiles for members under 18 or whatever, maybe allow the user to choose who can contact them / add them etc,
also have a block ability and mark as spam,
the profile itself should have 3 modes of operation, public – everything is displayed, semi private, freinds can see full profile, non freinds can see selected modules / different modules only, and fully private – the user must be freinds to see anything other than name, age and city/ country.
i have used the profile sidebar plugin, but as of yet there are no freinds or group widgets for it, i would like to see these with a good amount of configurability options allowing for things like top freinds, other half etc
sorry for such a long post but i would like to see these features implemented as i think they would greatly enhance buddypress!!
thanks!!
In reply to: Blogs-Widget Bug?!i am finding this widget to be really buggy to, i post a blog yet it appears like the 3rd item on the list, this is extremly annoying since my post never gets featured, i have a screenshot sidebyside with the sitewide activity widget as seen here: http://hyrxx.com/blogs_conflict.png
is there any way i can expand it so that maybe the first 3 posts are shown maybe show the full post of the one at the top and excerpts of the other 2, and then just the titles for the rest, i feel some posts dont get read because the content is hidden
thanks!!
In reply to: Integrating Curently Active Blogsexport your blog to the wordpress format then install mu and buddypress, your blog can then still be accessed by /blog, but obviously you will have to import it first,
most of the plugins will work with mu but some will not, i guess you can only hope and try them out
you will need to add your plugins again, i suggest you add them one by one to see what is working and what isnt, hope that helps, let me know if you need more help
In reply to: New users default to subscribersearch for the roles and capabilites plugin, then allow the subscribers to create posts and publish them, reply if you need more help

In reply to: Restrict Theme/Widget Change for Member Blogsdisable all the themes in the themes admin section under site admin
In reply to: installing into co.cci dont think it is possible since im pretty sure .co.cc is just a domain mask and doesnt allow you to change dns servers, therefore you wont be able to run it from this since you need wildcard dns
hey i just added all 3 to my mu plugins folder and i get the menu for admin and simplepie, but there is no flickr menu, also i have the link to flickr on my profile but its all screwed up http://hyrxx.com/members/Hyrxx/flickr
In reply to: Plugin: Default Friend 0.1i created the file for this directly on ssh and saved it and then added my id in the bit
i did add that other little line but still as reported above it doesnt work, i would like it to work and have everyone become my friend when they sign up but i think something better would be to allow the admin to force freindships so that i dont have to wait for them to accept
any help with a plugin like this would be appricated
In reply to: BuddyPress Showoff: Post your linksi have had buddypress running on mine since it was available, i am still seeing bugs but nothing too major
http://hyrxx.com is my main site but im running the buddypress home theme on http://launch.hyrxx.com – this is an interesting way to have it setup i know but also it may give ideas to others who want a separate part for buddypress, i am still considering moving my blog to a subdomain and putting buddypress on the main page but for this to happen i want to learn to theme it and i need it to be extremely perfect
my site is about me and teenlife so please look but dont touch unless you interested its more of a niche kinda thing that most of you wont understand but i posted since i wanted to show my installation, i hope for it to grow and make a proper social network within my freinds, i want to encourage them to all blog and create relationships using wp and bp, feedback apprieciated robbie@hyrxx.com
