That sounds like possible a theme or plugin issue – a slightly weird one but could you in order to determine let us know a bit more about your set up. Are you using multisite? What theme are you using? Have you tried deactivating all plugins to see if it still does the same behaviour?
Cool – just respond back if run into any issues and will see about helping to get back on track.
In reply to: Recent Update broke my website!Did you have a reading setting set to a page before the upgrade? It almost looks like a different template page is being used.
In reply to: Theme styles and search barTo remove the nav out you’d be looking at a template change.
false, 'menu_id' => 'nav', 'theme_location' => 'primary', 'fallback_cb' => 'bp_dtheme_main_nav' ) ); ?>
Should be moved in the header.php
To style current items in the menu look at:
#navigation #nav li a.current, #navigation #nav li a.selectedFor the search, have you tried removing all plugins just incase one is interfering?
Just to be clear, what you are trying to do is display like the user avatar and other details on the author page? You can’t just use member-header as that looks at the ‘current user’. In this case the author page doesn’t have the right information for those calls to work.
What I’d suggest is you get the userid and use functions like these:
bp_core_fetch_avatar( array( 'item_id'=>$userid, 'width'=>150));echo bp_core_get_username($userid);
bp_last_activity( $userid );
That way you’re creating the member-header yourself. You could even have a template part to do this and just call that in the right place.
So you’re using the plugin BuddyPress Moderation? https://buddypress.org/support/forum/plugin-forums/bp-moderation/ I ask because you’ve put this in installing BuddyPress but think perhaps this may be to do with the plugin.
Cool, glad it’s resolved. Usually the best route is to check what plugins are active and even reduce one by one to see what is impacting.
In reply to: Buddypress – xprofile field visibilityIt switches between show / hide using CSS yes but scripting assigns that class. I doubt that would be causing an issue though. Could you provide a link to see your theme and the issue?
Do you have any scripting errors on your site? It may be worth checking that using https://developers.google.com/chrome-developer-tools/ for instance.
I don’t see you saying what browser the user is using – do you know that?
If possible do you have a link you could add to see your site – I know it’s not always possible though?
My first guess without seeing a link would be some scripting error. Can you check using the web inspector in Chrome (or another browser)? https://developers.google.com/chrome-developer-tools/
I’d suggest if possible to remove all plugins and see if something is causing this. Also make sure your theme and plugins are up to date.
If that doesn’t fix it could you please provide a link to your site as it’s hard to diagnose without being able to see one. I know sometimes that’s not possible as private or work in progress, but if it is possible it can help.
In reply to: Help me out pleaseHi,
It’s hard to see what you are so a link would be very helpful. However, one site isn’t the same as another. What I would recommend would be to make sure before you install BuddyPress you have a ‘clean slate’ in sense of turn off all other plugins and make sure you on activating BuddyPress have the default BuddyPress theme (just at the start).
If you could however if that doesn’t work, respond with what version of WordPress you are using and a link then perhaps more can be offered as help. Otherwise, unfortunately it’s hard to say what your situation is.
In reply to: how to delete this menu top linksLinks are added either by a plugin or by hooking into that menu.
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/how-to-remove-and-add-items-in-bp_get_displayed_user_nav/ is quite a useful thread on adding to menus.
As for deleting the sidebar, that would need a link to see your theme before saying if something was going to work or not.
In reply to: Need helphttps://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/ is a great article on creating a custom language file. I’d suggest seeing if that works for you as think it will.
That error will usually happen when you try and use the template pack with a theme that is already designed for BuddyPress. Are you sure that’s not what is happening?
In reply to: how can I move the avatar to the side menu@raminjan : Whilst a little bit older: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/topic/how-to-display-specific-users-avatar/ has some useful stuff in it. It all depends on if you want to customise the theme or you do want to go the plugin route. If you want uploading and other functionality you’re going to have to go plugin. If you just want to show the existing profile image (which probably is more sensible) then you could output anywhere you want.
Off top of my head I’d suggest selector CSS would be a less obtrusive method for the CSS issue:
`.directory.members…..’ and so on – you can then do styling depending on the body classes.
In reply to: Everyone is friends with everyone?https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/welcome-pack/ should enable this.
In reply to: Buddy Press Private Community help?What happens when you use the default BuddyPress theme? Do you get an error message or none?
It all depends on ‘where’ you want the link. Are you looking to have in the themes a link back somehow or a consistent link back in sidebars?
In reply to: Problem with registrationI’m a little confused what is going on / your issue so forgive me but can you clarify please? Is the issue that on registration emails aren’t being sent?
In reply to: How to chage text friends?@windows84u : really doing it the language file is the way to go. I know first off getting your head around it can be a bit tricky but it enables you to change anything from there and not effect files.
In reply to: Mobile inquiry – high demandBuddypress is already mobile friendly as the default theme is responsive. It all depends on what you want – just a theme or extra functionality for mobile? You don’t need a mobile plugin for any WordPress or BuddyPress site to work on mobile. BuddyPress mobile is not just about working on mobile though that’s exploring mobile functionality too.
In reply to: Need help: Replies In Buddypress forumssolid_snake this weekend was the first ever BuddyCamp which may be part of why your responses were slower to get responses. However, this forum is made up of volunteers. Nobody is paid to respond to you, we all do what we can but we all don’t know everything or have unlimited supplies of time.
I know your issues is really important to you but starting threads with capital letters won’t get anyone to help sooner. It will unfortunately put some people off and that doesn’t help you get things done sooner. This is a community.
You would to do what you want need some custom script and this may be why responses have been slower to get to you. I myself don’t have a solid answer but I can give you a starting point of looking at : https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/the-bp-global/. I do this in order to show you that whilst people may not be responding your not being ignored.
The ones that don’t have an image are they using gravatar to get the image or uploading? Do you get the same issue when you use BuddyPress default theme or are you using that already?
In reply to: Private blog posting in public activity streamIs the blog definitely set to private as thought (haven’t checked) if it was it wasn’t designed to show in stream? Someone else may be able to confirm that but thought it was the case.
