In reply to: Can I search this forum?
There is a search by the breadcrumbs under the top orange navigation header. It doesn’t function that well though as a general search not directed at forum. It is a known issue being dealt with in a trac ticket.
If what you are suggesting is that the BuddyPress admin panel should be redesigned like those examples I’d second that it probably wouldn’t be anytime soon. I’d also add that I really hope it wouldn’t be like those examples as they are really awful UI wise. Sorry but that reminds me of the horrible old school server admins.
In reply to: bp_has_members problemsDo you mean 1.6? As in BuddyPress 1.6 and BuddyPress 1.5.7? If so, then I’d check in 1.6 as things probably got fixed if a known bug. Alternatively if testing shows then same issue then please report via trac.
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4155 seems to indicate it does work though.
In reply to: Posting to activity stream issuesMy guess is the theme isn’t loading scripting needed but the plugin does. You could test this theory by trying BuddyPress default
In reply to: Get stylesheet directory problemIf you want it to use the child theme template you simply have that file in the child theme. You don’t have to link in the parent it simply will look to child first.
In reply to: User profile redesign ExampleJust a little bit of friendly advice but if you make your titles say your problem people will more easily be able to help you here. It’s a little vague in your title what you are looking for. Some people glance titles to see if they know answer.
I’m a little puzzled but what you want is to maybe create a sidebar with icons? Or are you using a script to do this? Perhaps you’re just looking though to create a menu with the normal navigation for BuddyPress but with icons? Can you confirm which you are trying to do please.
In reply to: remove registration pageHi, you can perhaps start by looking at this thread it should give you some pointers: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/using-the-wordpress-login-and-register-pages-instead-of-buddypress/
Looks like part of the akismet integration:
http://phpxref.ftwr.co.uk/buddypress/nav.html?_functions/index.html
I’d say from tracing through that functions list it’s needed and should exist.
In reply to: Registration page not workingOff the top of my head I’d say make sure you’ve not got any rewrite rules in your .htaccess, no plugin is interfering and you’ve re saved your BuddyPress pages to be linked up.
In reply to: [Resolved] How i customize the first page? That’s quite an open ended question
First up, what theme are you using – I can assume that you are using BP Default but that could be wrong? Can you provide a link to see the theme / site you are working on? To do those changes it would require you to edit theme files or set theme options – it all depends on what theme you are using. In reply to: Installing BuddyPress on Striking themeAs far as I know it works with the latest BuddyPress. Alternatively make your theme a child of BP Default and create a theme that way.
In reply to: Installing BuddyPress on Striking themeAre you using this: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-template-pack/?
*patch *patch pom poms
In reply to: Registering username with space can’t sign upAs far as I know you can’t have spaces in the usernames – that’s a limitation of the registration script.
In reply to: installed – what nextWhen you installed did you save the settings on the BuddyPress page – so that you link pages to sections in BuddyPress?
In the case of a blank page if the above isn’t true you would be best checking your hosting logs as a white page can mean an error that would show up in those. Another method you can try is removing plugins and going to the default BuddyPress theme (keep BuddyPress as a plugin though). This way you can get things working with BuddyPress then add to that once it’s up and running.
@rogercoathup: Yes I am aware but there are things could be done with menus in BuddyPress. If you recall from the dev chats, we’re re-examining the entire menu area so anything should / can be considered.
@modemlooper: Perhaps this can be raised while we’re reviewing menus? Or at least used as a test case when we have done that.
In reply to: Group forum edit topic or reply doesn’t do itI’m seeing you’ve got a few issues and I can’t help but wander if this is because your theme isn’t using the latest scripting files (ie; hasn’t had an update) but you’ve updated BuddyPress. I may be wrong but can you confirm your setup in the other thread where I asked for it please?
In reply to: Problem with buddypress admin-bar.css Do i need it?Has your theme been updated for using the latest BuddyPress? I say this as it may have an old reference to adminbar.css which isn’t valid anymore.
Just as a note of caution though, I would never recommend moving around core files even if .css.
In reply to: Group avatars nothing happens after uploadAre you using the latest version of BuddyPress with the default theme? If not, then what is your set up theme wise and what version of BuddyPress?
Also, just as a check can you upload themes to your media area in WordPress?
In reply to: images don’t show up in activity streamWere you using the same theme or a different theme in your ‘old setup’?
In reply to: How do I put my logo in BP toolbar? You might want to try this: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/custom-admin-bar/
In reply to: WhyDate.ME?Hmmm not seeing much different from the default theme
In reply to: [Resolved] Buddypress fixing alignment issuesIf you can please provide a link to see your site with this issue it would help in diagnosis. Without seeing a link my thoughts would be it’s either:
1. A too wide div
2. A clear in a wrong place
3. An extra div putting the content and sidebar in different sectionsIn reply to: Default NAV MenuI’m a little confused as to what you have going on so sorry but could you clarify for me please. Are you looking to change the url or is the issue that when you click on members profiles you see the front page? If that’s the case then you shouldn’t have that happen you should see their profiles. My first suggestion would be check you’ve not got anything plugin wise causing a redirect.
But, if you can clarify what you are seeing and what you want to do – as I may be wrong in my suggestion.
