@sudeepacharya current BP 1.6.1 is *not* compatible with WP 3.2.1. You should be upgrading your WP to 3.4.1 version. However, if you cannot do so at this time, you’d need to use BuddyPress version 1.5.1
@dalagonash cool. glad you got Step 3 on your own

I would suggest copying some style modifications for Twenty Ten theme posted at https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/ to remove the bullets in your unordered lists as well as bring in the width of the item navigation and the like. Adjust to taste.
In reply to: Please help me understand…== But they do not seem to really align. Can someone explain this to me? ==
Site url? WP/BP versions?
@ed161718 page.php requires content-page.php and I need the code to the latter to complete the instructions.
In reply to: [Resolved] HTML changes for Akita Theme== the sidebars are showing up under the main content ==
Hmm, fixing alignment about should have resolved that. I’ll check your site in a moment.
== what is the relevance of the M Flora Peterson picture ==
Sorry about that
I was comparing the codes of both Akita and Alyeska https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/customising-alyeska-theme-for-buddypress/ which had that image and forgot to delete it from code posted. I’ve deleted it above now.== page heading, members bar and second divider are also out of place ==
Did you add the styles from codex page I referred to above? That would have taken in the horizontal overflow of the item and sub navigation elements.
In reply to: Reply to forums/ activity via email== I like how on yahoo groups or google groups or lots of other places you can just hit reply in your email. ==
See @r-a-y project https://github.com/r-a-y/bp-reply-by-email
In reply to: New topics showing in more than one forum@zillabuggs first time I heard about this issue in the Group Forums. Is bbPress plugin (Sitewide Forums) also activated? WP/BP versions? What theme are you using? What plugins are activated in your installation?
In reply to: Integrating BuddyPress Into New Template@bifrost glad you resolved it, just that.
In reply to: [Resolved] HTML changes for Akita ThemeB. At the bottom of the same 16 files, replace:
`
`
with the following (except for registration/register.php):
`<?php
themeblvd_main_bottom();
themeblvd_main_end();
get_footer();`with the following for registration/register.php:
`jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});
});<?php
themeblvd_main_bottom();
themeblvd_main_end();
get_footer();`Save files.
C. Upload the 6 BP folders containing the 16 files you’ve just revised to your server wp-content/themes/akita/
D. Go to the style modifications made in BP Twenty Ten for reference especially with removing the bullets and bringing in the extended width of the BP elements. https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/ and copy these over to your theme’s stylesheet and adjust as needed.
In reply to: [Resolved] HTML changes for Akita Theme@keats18 Per scan of your theme’s HTML structure, you’d need to use the first option, i.e., change 16 template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your Akita theme folder in server during the compatibility process.
If you’ve previously changed any of the BP template files in your theme folder, replace all of them for a clean slate by deleting the 6 BP folders in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility.
Download the 6 clean BP folders to your computer hard drive.
A. At the top of each of those 16 template files I linked to above, replace
``with
`<?php get_header();
themeblvd_main_start();
themeblvd_main_top();
themeblvd_breadcrumbs();
themeblvd_before_layout();
?><article id="post-” >`@ed161718 just checked the codes you posted. For the catch box theme, you would need to revise 16 template files from the BP template folders transferred to your theme folder in wp-content/themes/catch-box/ during the Appearance > BP Compatibility process. If you still want the instructions, let me know.
In reply to: Integrating BuddyPress Into New Template@bifrost do activate BP and Template Pack plugins. Know that volunteers here live in different time zones and if they/I don’t see what’s going on, it’s going to be guessing game.
In reply to: [Resolved] HTML changes for Akita Theme@keats18 while I copied the code to pastebin.com, a fellow mod or admin also pasted it in pastebin.com above mine
Please do not post large blocks of code here.I also need the code from your theme’s content-page.php -> please post in pastebin.com
@chouf1 thank you for following up with this.
The language «html» is not working for me now as well. I just checked an old post. And when I click on Edit Topic link, I get [ sourcecode language=””html”” ] … double quotation marks.
But [ javascript ] [ /javascript ] is working
In reply to: Integrating BuddyPress Into New Template@bifrost not quite sure why that’s happening. Site URI?
In reply to: [Resolved] Customising Alyeska Theme for Buddypress@keats18 Each theme has a different solution depending on the HTML structure, so you need to start a new topic for your own theme ( as I see you have now https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/html-changes-for-akita-theme/ )
Please don’t post big blocks of code here but in pastebin.com, then post the generated URI in your post.
In reply to: Buddypress and Multisite@bhappy yes you can go multisite after BP is installed. Before you go multisite
– backup database and server files, just in case something goes awry
– deactivate all plugins (including BuddyPress) and change to Twenty Eleven theme
– create a network (go multisite) and check that all is in working order
– activate BuddyPress et al@ed161718 open up your theme’s header.php with a text editor, copy all code, paste code in pastebin.com, click submit and post the generated URL here. Do the same for your catchbox theme’s index.php, page.php, sidebar.php and footer.php files.
In reply to: broken urls for members and groupsI would suggest that you do not make a BP component page (like Forum) the parent page of another or other BP component pages (like Groups, Members, etc).
== fter I reactivate my theme, I then have to go through an re-add all my widgets… this is very painful. Is there anything that might be causing this? ==
When you registere your widgets in your functions.php file, did you remember to add a unique ID for each widget? Otherwise, whenever you deactivate your child theme or even add a new widget in functions.php file, the widgets would disappear or would move to another widget area
ID e.g.
`register_sidebar( array(
‘name’ => ‘Sidebar’,
‘id’ => ‘sidebar-1’,
etc.`@chouf1
– I am using a child theme of bp-default theme, a port of apeatling’s design of BP 1.0 BuddyPress theme https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.0/bp-themes/bphome/screenshot.png
– Also that IS screenshot of the BuddyPress Group Forums new topic page. You can see the Group Name and Group Admins above the forum topic
But going back to the syntax highlighter, I do see the issue now if I post HTML/PHP code just like yours instead of CSS which I posted above and used lately. I was able to find a work-around by using `[ sourcecode lang=”title” ] the code [ /sourcecode ]` (just remove the spaces before ahd after the brackets) Result: https://mercime.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/bp161-shevolved-php.png
Google “how to add icons to links” and you’ll get plenty of tutorials to read.
In reply to: Missing Sidebars from Profile Pages@rbasmaji if I recall well from recent forum posts, Custom Community theme needs to be updated. Change to bp-default theme and check if issue is resolved.
In reply to: Integrating BuddyPress Into New Template@bifrost you need to make your WP theme compatible with BuddyPress by installing/activating the BP Template Pack plugin. Then go to Appearance > BP Compatibility process.
In reply to: bbPress Plugins with BP Group Fourms?Unless said bbPress plugin specifically notes that it also works with the BuddyPress Group Forums, then no.
