In reply to: Install issues
@kenn_icuk WP/BP versions? Is your installation hosted locally or on shared hosting or VPS, etc? Windows or Linux? Are you using bp-default theme or a custom theme?
In reply to: Error in BuddyPress Video@mix35 per my check at this time, you have many plugins activated but did not activate BuddyPress at all. Before activating BuddyPress, deactivate the BP-compatible plugins first. Then activate those one by one as some may not have been updated for BP 1.6.
No, we don’t use Jetpack in our installations since we only needed some features which were already filled by other solutions.
Just a thought, have you tried deactivating plugins except BuddyPress and JetPack to check if it was a conflict with another plugin?
In reply to: Theme issue – Page alignment@mumbaipav you have activated the BP template pack plugin and need to complete of fix wrong implementation of Step 3 compatibility process. So as mentioned above
Open up your theme’s header.php file, copy all code, paste in pastebin.com, click submit and post the generated URI here. Do the same for index.php, page.php, sidebar.php and footer.php
@raminjan please know that BP plugins created 2 years ago which have not been updated to recent BP 1.6 won’t work and will likely cause issues in your installation.
@kooba ==remove the list background in the BP template files== ?? How to do it??
I mean removing the small circular images with arrows within, the default style of your theme’s unordered lists. In link D above, copy the styles and then paste it at the bottom of your theme’s style.css file.
In reply to: horizontal alignment of menu is offThis issue could be related to your other topic https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/whats-new-textbox-is-a-hyperlink-from-the-activity-page-to-the-activity-page-cycle-wierd/
Since your layout in 2nd install on a test domain is working fine, have you tried re-uploading the Modular_BuddyPress_Child_Theme folder/files to your server manually wp-content/themes/modular/
@travcentralen Your custom theme needs to be updated for BP 1.6. To confirm, change to bp-default theme and check if issue is resolved.

In reply to: Like Button not working right@raminjan are you referring to the BuddyPress LIke plugin which hasn’t been updated since 2010 or something else?
In reply to: Theme issue – Page alignment@mumbaipav initial scan of your theme’s source code looks like you only need to create two files to complate Step 3 of the BP Compatibility process. Open up your theme’s header.php file, copy all code, paste in pastebin.com, click submit and post the generated URI here. Do the same for index.php, page.php, sidebar.php and footer.php
In reply to: Looking for a good login widget== What login widget is this site using? ==
Free. Check code in bp-default theme’s sidebar.php file.
In reply to: Activity stream not working PLEASE HELP!== I deactivated all the plugins and still didnt do nothing. ==
@charlietech change to bp-default theme.
In reply to: Register page not working== Once a user enters all the fields and click “Complete Sign up” it just comes back to the same page with no error message. Register in BP-Default Theme works. ==
@igid26 what theme are you using? Has it been updated for BP 1.6?
In reply to: [Resolved] bp-default theme, profile to activity== there is the constant profile button on every page. ==
@hkcharlie not quite sure what you mean except that every avatar goes to specific member’s profile page. If your adminbar is enabled for logged in members, they can easily go to their activity page with dropdown link in adminbar.
@tdano per error, it’s due to the user registration aide plugin. In that plugin’s defense, there’s nothing in the plugin’s docs which state it is compatible with BuddyPress at all. Feel free to contact plugin dev at https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/user-registration-aide/ Support tab
@sweetmelody not sure. Please also post at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack Support
In reply to: Problems following attempted upgrade.== I attempted to install a BP compatible theme ==
@bruce-hazard I see that you’re using Elbee Elgee theme which needs to be updated fpr BP 1.6 https://wordpress.org/support/topic/problem-after-update-5?replies=18
In reply to: Activity stream is duplicating post after update.@charlietech is this happening even with bp-default theme and all plugins deactivated except BuddyPress? Or with a custom theme or plugins which have not been updated to latest BP version?
In reply to: Having trouble with group forums…unique issue@tommycopeland BuddyPress Like has not been updated since BP 1.2. Deactivate that plugin, log out, then log in again. Then check if you can create group forum topics.
== ok, I managed to fix it, so proud of myself ==
@kooba and you should be proud of yourself for doing a good job

== maybe suggest some changes, i’d appreciate it…. I’m sure You could make it even nicer ==
Flattery will get you everywhere
Kidding aside, you should copy over the style changes I mentioned in (D) above to fix the alignment of the other elements as well as remove the list background in the BP template files.@matthillcomer are you referring to posts by multiple authors in single WP or posts by members in subsites of a Multisite installation?
In reply to: Installed BuddyPress but no work?== I have to do more investigation as to whether I can use this plugin with my theme, or how to install it so it is compatible. ==
@nwweavers we have “template-packed” a number of WP themes for BP compatibility https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/#template-packed-wordpress-themes
In reply to: Installed BuddyPress but no work?@theonlytexaspete did you activate sitewide forums (bbPress plugin) only or did you also activate the Forums for Groups?
@nwweavers you have a different situation altogether. please start a new topic and include basic info about your installation like WP/BP versions, new/updated installation, single/multisite, and the like
In reply to: Menu bar completely gone after update== and now our menu bar has disappeared altogether ==
@stuart-elliott is this happening for logged-in/logged-out users?
Some thoughts:
– Go to Settings > BuddyPress -> Settings -> Main Settings and make sure that you have checked ” Show the Toolbar for logged out users “
– Change to bp-default theme and check if issue is resolved. If so, it’s very likely a theme issue. Know that Themekraft will be updating the Custom Community theme next week if not sooner.
