DJPaul, THANK YOU for the two links especially the second one with Westi’s code which I haven’t seen before … bookmarked now.
I added the class and action to my child theme’s functions.php and it worked. Only 10 lines of code now and very easy to do, very cool! Thanks again.
In reply to: can't DISABLE avatarCheck out this plugin – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-remove-avatars/
This plugin will completely remove ALL avatars (including default, uploaded, or gravatar) from displaying on your site. This includes hiding the step for choosing avatars when creating groups or user accounts, and removing the menu items for editing avatars.In reply to: Buddy Press Header BarAre you referring to the buddypress admin bar like the one you find at the very top of this page with grey background that you want the members to add to their self-hosted sites? “My Account” “Notifications” etc.
You would need a custom plugin possibly with preconfigured authorization so they don’t need to log in to your site when they click on link in buddypress admin bar in their site.
In reply to: BP 1.2 and bbPress admin/plugins@nig3d, “I installed the support plugin using the admin of the default installation”
– just to clarify, you mean you used the 2nd method posted by M?
In reply to: BuddyPress screencasts – what do you want to see?Great public service DJPaul. What they all said. May I also suggest categorizing the videos as basic, intermediate and advanced and/or themes, codes, plugins, upgrading, etc.
edit – didn’t notice that was from 8 months ago :=0
In reply to: BP 1.2 and bbPress admin/pluginsInteresting M, thanks for sharing. So how’s it working out for you so far?
In reply to: BuddyPress General Settings>Select Themes>Missing?@peternicholls – It looks like you created sub-blogs “members” “blogs” and “groups” which you shouldn’t have done. Delete those sub-blogs. Let BuddyPress automattically generate those pages when you click on the links. Just tested the theme and it’s working great on 1.2-rare bp-sn-parent.
If that’s not the case, it would help us help you if you answer these questions – https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/when-asking-for-support
In reply to: Buddy Press Header BarWhat BuddyPress version are you one? Which theme are you using? In other words https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/when-asking-for-support
In reply to: Groups: Send Internal Message to all group members?Thanks Bowe, but the instruction n sql are for the grp-cal not grp eml. Cheers.
This no-www prefixes for WPMU would most probably be resolved after the merge of WP and WPMU codebases in WP 3.0. Personally, I prefer no-www in WPMU installs and enforce no-www in single WP installs

In reply to: WordPress Mu PluginsSo far, so good for me in BP 1.2 trunk and WPMU 2.9.1
On the other hand, what MU plugins did you want to install?
In reply to: Delete Blogs from the Admin MenuIn reply to: Updating to WPMU 2.9.1I hope you read this first – http://ocaoimh.ie/wpmu-add-commentmeta/ before upgrading to WPMU 2.9.1
In reply to: How to edit this part of the default template?Resize the first column table cell to 40%-50%
In reply to: How to edit this part of the default template?Those two grey columns, as I mentioned above, is a background image added to the left hand side of the container div in certain pages within that theme as I showed you with the selectors. You can always replace the original background image with another in your style sheet.
Since you deleted the usersbar.php and optionsbar.php which have their own divs, you would need to replace them with your own div containing the information you want for that area and style accordingly.
In reply to: Best Event Plugin?I’ve used http://wpcal.firetree.net/ and what I like about it is that the event is associated with a post for the additional details. The events added using this plugin will be automatically integrated in user’s activity stream because events are created via published Posts.
Setting up events would work easily if you allow access to main site’s dashboard so all logged-in users can add new post with the event information. That solves everything. Thing is, I don’t want users going anywhere near the backend of the main site where BP is installed

What would be ideal is an add-on to the plugin with frontend interface for logged-in users who do not have blogs. They could add the event information in the BP area. Those who have blogs could add events from their own dashboard Write/Edit panel.
One just needs a way to aggregate events posted in blogs to seamlessly integrate with events posted from BP front-end interface. That way, all events whether posted in BP area or user blogs will appear in order for Upcoming Events list and/or big calendar.
Yeah, it’s white in IE 6/7 but wp-admin-bar is there in other browsers. Perhaps you could ask theme developer to provide styles for wp-admin-bar compatible with IE for your premium theme.
In reply to: How to edit this part of the default template?The different shades of gray are rendered by background images for certain pages of the theme. It’s been some time since I created a child theme for bp-sn-parent, but these selectors should get you started:
body.blog-page #container,
body.directory #container,
body.home-page #container,
body.internal-page #container,
#container {
background: #ffffff none;
}where you can change #ffffff to whatever color you want and “none” in effect says no background image for these pages.
You add that style at the bottom of screen.css located in BP 1.1.3 bp-default/_inc/css/ folder.
Or to be BP-correct, uncomment the following
@import url( _inc/css/custom.css );in your bp-default style.css and create custom.css file in bp-default/_inc/css/ folder and add above style to custom.css.
That’s a premium theme which might not have been updated for whatever BP version you are using right now, 1.1.3 I presume. I would suggest that you contact the theme authors. They might already have the upgrades available.
EDIT- I just double checked your site, and the admin bar is there….
In reply to: How to edit this part of the default template?You’re on BP 1.1.3, right? The userbar.php and optionsbar.php files – the two verticals you have there – are located in bp-sn-parent theme. The calls to both the userbar and options bar are made in made in bp-sn-parent theme’s header.php:
<?php locate_template( array( 'userbar.php' ), true ) /* Load the user navigation */ ?>
<?php locate_template( array( 'optionsbar.php' ), true ) /* Load the currently displayed object navigation */ ?>In reply to: Insert or embed videoWhat D Cartwright said. Even after you’ve upgraded to WPMU 2.9 rc-1 where you can just paste on the YouTube link in Write/Edit panel, Vipers Video Quicktags help you add more customizations to your video, should you choose to.
