In reply to: Can't Get Forum Pages to Show Up In Menu
I have tried creating a menu item that points to the actual “forum” itself, but it returns with “page not found”
What is the title/slug of your main forum page. This main forum page should be created via Pages > Add New. At the very least, if you forgot to add the forums index or other available bbPress shortcodes to the main forum page before publishing that page, you’d only get a page with Page title and not a 404 error.
Set up bbPress forums with BuddyPress installs https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
In reply to: [Resolved] Group Notifications – Whats New@famous check out or download plugin in github which has been updated for BP 1.7 https://github.com/boonebgorges/buddypress-group-email-subscription
In reply to: Being added to Groups before being accepted@dswd tested on install with WP 3.6 beta 3, with plugins – BuddyPress trunk and bbPress trunk – and Twenty Twelve theme. Steps #1 through #6 are the same for me. For step 7, when I go back to groups, I am not a member of that group yet. Done this with 7 other regular users and I get the same results – not a member of that group unless I click on the accept button.
My test installations at this point are all on trunk and I have not received any reports about this issue in live sites – probably because they click on “Accept” button right away instead of wandering from group to profile to group 🙂
In reply to: Invalid Activation Key For New RegistrationBasic troubleshooting: deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress and change to Twenty Twelve theme. Was registration process working before you activated BuddyPress?
In reply to: [Resolved] Group Notifications – Whats NewNo. There’s no notification for group status updates in default installation.
In reply to: Activity Wall bug BP 1.7.2 comments/replies@bottleinfrontomy at least 3 users have posted in this forum re pagelines framework. Deactivate pagelines theme and the pagelines-buddypress plugin then change to Twenty Twelve theme. Check if issues are resolved. if not, deactivate plugins batch by batch to check which one is causing conflict – including those in mu-plugins folder.

@waterfiend check out http://wpmu.org/how-to-build-a-facebook-style-members-only-wordpress-buddypress-site/ or have a look at different solutions posted for a private BP site at https://buddypress.org/support/topic/protecting-buddypress-pages-from-non-logged-in-users/
In reply to: [Resolved] Toggle extended profiles@discdemo thank you for posting back with the plugin causing the conflict
In reply to: Adding a container to the profiles?@tudmak This is the file you should be adding the HTML/CSS to https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.7.2/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/single/member-header.php
or you can use bp_before_member_header() or bp_after_member_header() to add the HTML and position the item where you want it in your stylesheetIn reply to: [Resolved] BuddyPress 1.7.2 Groups 404 Issue@brew62 thanks for posting the issue and resolution.
BP Gallery 1.0.16 is compatible with BP 1.7.2 There have been a lot of changes since BP Gallery 1.0.9In reply to: Header and footer widget problems@junithorn I placed the link to that page because I had modified member/single/index.php and other files in a Responsive child theme and had no issues with sidebar nor footer widgets.
– Did you create a /community or /buddypress folder within your child theme folder?
– Did you follow the directory structure where you copied the file you wanted to modify from
e.g. bp-legacy/buddypress/members/single/activity.php
to your theme folder in server
wp-content/themes/responsive-child-theme/buddypress/members/single/activity.php ?In reply to: [Resolved] Recently active avatars@stephenbuck415 you can still use the styles posted above. You add that to your theme’s style.css file or to stylesheet enqueued by your theme
In reply to: Buddypress a bit plain lookingBefore the change I had the grey around the navigation of friends forums etc but that disappeared with the templates being disabled.
Not quite sure what you mean. You lost all BP styles? What do you mean by “templates disabled”? BP components are rendered automagically via theme’s page.php file.
In reply to: BP-Default fontsIn reply to: Registration Emails Not Received@thecrow72 basically, BuddyPress uses the WP email functions for its registration process. Deactivate BuddyPress, bbPress and other plugins then check your WP registration/activation emails, etc. If it’s not working, then please resolve your issue at https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting
Before activating BuddyPress, read https://codex.buddypress.org/user/before-installing/
Good luck!
In reply to: Post Link appears thrice@sarathbabu_k can’t even guess what’s up with your installation. Need more information like WP/BP versions? Theme used? Plugins installed? New installation or upgraded from previous BP/WP version? Did you check if links in posts (blog posts or status updates or forum posts?) were working before BuddyPress was installed or not?
In reply to: Group description excerpt issue. Please help!@njore simplest way is to add the following to your theme’s stylesheet
ul.item-list li div.item-desc {
max-height: 50px;
overflow: hidden;
}In reply to: [Resolved] Registration Spam@mamun669 Great. Marking this topic as resolved.

In reply to: Display Issues@bkypes starting from scratch – might I suggest that before installing pagelines theme and other plugins, test BuddyPress with Twenty Twelve theme – registration, group creation, etc.? That way, you can ID issues to be resolved if something goes wrong when pagelines theme/plugin are activated and you’ll be able to report specifics to pagelines theme developers.
In reply to: problem sidebars theme Nebraskathe plugin is “breaking” the layout because its using different content tags
@millo it’s more like your theme is using proprietary templating system. BuddyPress is compatible with nearly all of the WordPress themes in the market.
BuddyPress uses the page.php file to render BP components. Open up your theme’s page.php file and Save As > buddypress.php and ask your theme developer to change the respective proprietary tags to show the_title and the_content in source.
After that’s done, upload buddypress.php file into your theme folder in server.
In reply to: SignUp Error@galavrah deactivate plugins batch by batch except BuddyPress to check which plugin is causing the issue.
In reply to: Display Issues@bkypes I see that you’re using the pagelines theme. http://www.pagelines.com/store/plugins/pagelines-buddypress/
