In reply to: How to make Buddy Press Compatible with Theme
@minigamers in addition, help us help you by being more specific about what theme you’re using and what shows up or what’s not showing up in the BuddyPress sections of your site.
@newkindofcool and <partner/IT guy> as Henry posted, thank you for posting back with the resolution.
In reply to: Delete Metatags@justraze BuddyPress uses the theme’s page.php file to render activated components and features. Strange that your theme’s page.php includes that metatag. Open up your theme’s page.php file and Save As > buddypress.php then remove the metatag from buddypress.php. Save and upload to theme folder in server wp-content/themes/NAMEOFYOURTHEME/
In reply to: [Resolved] 404 message when trying to edit profile@tribblehunter use XAMPP
– updated steps using xampp https://make.wordpress.org/core/handbook/installing-a-local-server/installing-xampp/
– adding WP to XAMPP http://wpmu.org/install-wordpress-locally-on-windows-with-xampp/In reply to: Buddypress Group forum on different pages@katumos the individual group forums do appear on separate pages. What exactly do you mean?
@newkindofcool Saw this reported before. One had a theme JS conflict and another had cache issue. Have you tried basic troubleshooting like deactivating plugins batch by batch and/or changing to Twenty Twelve or BP Default theme to check?
@themightymo I plead the Fifth ๐
In reply to: [Resolved] 404 message when trying to edit profile@tribblehunter Have not used webmatrix before so issue could be WP installation via webmatrix or the theme and/or plugins you might have installed or something else.
From the top – BuddyPress requires pretty permalinks without the index.php file appended in settings. Following is setting for iis7 for reference https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/developer-docs/iis7-web-config/
@themightymo @bphelp BP Devs are in the process of updating the site during free time. Thank you for your patience ๐
In reply to: [Resolved] buddypress and localhostPeace.
@dmd54 I can understand your frustration with a problematic installation and know that you want help asap. Remember though all who help out in the forums are volunteers from all over the world with different ways of responding to questions posted here. What’s kosher for some may be impudent to others. Moving on…
i have the register page set to my sign up page but nothing appears.
– You mean you created a blank page with title/slug for registration, and then assigned that page to Registration in Settings > BuddyPress > Pages, right?
– What do you mean when you say nothing appears? Is it white screen in front and no source view or do you just see the title Register (or slug you chose) and no registration forms below?
– Are you on MAMP, WAMP, or XAMPP?
– Are you using a custom theme or have you tried using Twenty Twelve theme or the BP Default theme?
– Yes Register page and Activate page are separate because each page has a different function. In reply to: Problem transferring (does BP have a new db system?)@number_6 If you activated all of the components in Settings > BuddyPress > Components, 16 BP tables should be created in your site’s database as seen here.
BP interacts with most WP tables in database so you have to port it sitewide. Backup DB manually i.e., phpMyAdmin to computer hard drive, then use this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/ to help you move your DB. Btw, do not use webhost’s one-click WP installation, upload WP manually and install. You need to be in total control of your site if you want to activate BuddyPress.
In reply to: Registration Breaks Site@jkuzma
– Updated from what WP/BP version to what version?
– How does new registration “break” the site? White screen or 500 error? What shows up in your error logs?
– What random pages show up 404? Pages created in Pages > Add New or BuddyPress pages?
– How did you install WordPress – via webhost one-click install or did you upload WordPress manually? one-click WP install is buggy for BP sites as you need to have full control of your site when you use BuddyPress. In reply to: BuddyPress Demo WebSiteg14nc4n0 one post is enough ๐ as mentioned in other post, BP Lead Devs know about this.
Closing this topic.Confirmed. The BP Lead Devs know about this.
@reacton What kind of modifications did you make on your BP Default child theme? Note that if made changes in the HTML markup in the template files of the BP-specific pages, you might also have to copy over and revise the JS files of BP Default theme.
In reply to: BP Dev blog hit with spam@synaptic Thank you. They will be nuked ๐
In reply to: Post Link appears thriceNo I didnt try deactivating plugins since I was not sure which plugin is actually causing this error.
Having links showing up twice in Posts when you only posted it once is not normal for any BuddyPress or regular WordPress installation. It’s basic troubleshooting to deactivate plugins either one by one or by batch or all together (except BuddyPress) to find out which plugin is causing the error. Btw, you didn’t mention what theme you are using.
If I click on โadd linksโ , it shows me add link here and then a preview button.
Is that “add links” coming from a plugin? What exactly do you preview after you click “add link”?
In reply to: Post Link appears thriceWhat exactly do you mean by post links and where is the issue showing up? Blog post links or Forum post links or Activity Status update post links?
Have you tried to deactivate plugins batch by batch except BuddyPress to determine whether it’s a plugin conflict?
In reply to: [Resolved] Group Notifications โ Whats New@famous Glad it worked out for you, thanks for posting back.
Marking this as resolved. In reply to: [ Resolved] Lost top menu buttons@nanaimomen just tested it in BP 1.7.2 install. That code would bring back the Buddybar of yore and not the current BuddyPress links integrated into the WP toolbar.
If you did want BuddyBar back then check:
– Did you place the code posted above in a new flle named bp-custom.php ?
– Did you upload that file into your server wp-content/plugins/ folder ?In reply to: Arranging members in the member page@ihpalash You might want to look at https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-user-account-type-lite/
@thebuded something you should report in Trac https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/newticket
Log in using WP/BP username and password. Please include more info about your installation including from what version you upgraded, plugins used, etc.And when I looked for the โbp-custom.phpโ file, I donโt see it anywhere in the recent installation.
@ebarney You need to create the file. In the last line of the first paragraph at https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/customizing/changing-internal-configuration-settings/ there’s a link to the bp-custom.php page
In reply to: Activity Wall bug BP 1.7.2 comments/replies@bottleinfrontomy start at the beginning.
– Hopefully, you did not install WP with webhost’s one-click install as that is not kosher with BuddyPress installs where you need to have full control of your site
– Deactivate all plugins, change to Twenty Twelve theme and then activate BuddyPress.
– Go to Settings > BuddyPress and configure Components, Pages, and Settings
– If everything’s working as expected in front end – registration, group creation, etc., activate your plugins – make sure they’ve been upgraded to latest WP BP versions.
– Final step, activate your theme of choiceIn reply to: wrong URL is generated on groups without forum@hellen83 The problem is in your installation. BuddyPress does not append /forum to a newly created group’s home page. Basic troubleshooting: deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress and change to Twenty Twelve theme or BP Default theme. Then create a group.
