In reply to: [Resolved] BuddyPress Group Forums not working
@ssmedia Cool. Marking this as resolved.
In reply to: [Resolved] CSS for Group ForumsGiven that you’re using a premium theme with customized forum templates, it would be guesswork . to help you with the styles aside from the fact that the site is private. Since you have access to the site, I suggest using Chrome where you can right click on the Topic tile and Inspect Element. The developer console would show up and highlight what you need to change.
@theseoguy At this point I would backup database then deactivate all plugins including BuddyPress, change to Twenty Twelve and check if users with Admin access access the default Admin page. Then activate the plugins (BuddyPress and other BP plugins last) a batch at a time to determine which one/s could be causing the permissions error.
In reply to: [Resolved] BuddyPress Group Forums not working@ssmedia it might be a theme issue. Change to BP Default theme and check if issue is corrected.
In reply to: [Resolved] BuddyPress Group Forums not working@ssmedia the updated installation instructions for group and sitewide forums https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/ – deactivate Discussion Forums in Settings > BuddyPress > Components
I’ve read through the install guide and still can’t figure out why.
Which installation guide did you read? Our updated installation for Group and Sitewide forums notes that you disable Group Discussions in Settings > BuddyPress Components
https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/In reply to: [Resolved] CSS for Group Forums@purnimagore it would help if you provided the link to your forums, can’t find it.
@sadr WP/BP versions? Did you create a Forum(Category) for your group forums before you converted or after? What’s the hierarchical structure of your converted group forums? How did you convert group forums to bbPress? Did you follow the instructions in BP Codex?
In reply to: Displaying profile field name in Member Loop`<p><strong>Type of Cancer:</strong> <span style=”color: #736B6E;”><?php bp_member_profile_data( ‘field=Cancer Type’ ); ?></span></p>`
In reply to: Displaying profile field name in Member LoopYou can add inline style like `<p style=”color: #ccc;”>` or better yet, add a class `<p class=”crfield”>` then add p.crfield { color: #ccc} to your theme’s style.css file
In reply to: Displaying profile field name in Member LoopSurround Type of Cancer with opening `` and closing ``
In reply to: Displaying profile field name in Member LoopWhy not simply do something like this?
`<p>Type of Cancer: <?php bp_member_profile_data( ‘field=cancer type’ ); ?> </p>`
In reply to: 404 Errors on member links and member searchNo, it is 3.5 not 3.5.1
Then you should upgrade to WP 3.5.1 which includes bug fixes and compatible with BP 1.6.4. https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/releases/
Is there a problem with the BP and the permalink structure having index.php in it?
@magnuscreed Yes there is. You have to remove that index.php from permalink structure with BuddyPress. I’ve never hosted on Windows server, maybe the following info may help.
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/developer-docs/iis7-web-config/
http://forums.iis.net/p/1165547/1969906.aspxUser Profiles – https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/developer-docs/loops-reference/the-profile-fields-loop-bp_has_profile/
For any issues re above, please start a new topic. Marking this as resolved.
@derek-melo the best person to contact about this is the author of the premium plugin which we don’t have access to.
@gust0208 deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress. Choose the BP Default theme. And no, you do not add any shortcode to the Page in order for BP to work. If you’ve manually created the Pages e.g. Members, Groups, etc. go to Settings > BuddyPress > Pages and assign the created Pages to appropriate BP Component and Save.
In reply to: Can BuddyPress do this?It can be done, but it’s not available out of the box. You’d either have to code it yourself or hire a developer to do so.
In reply to: [Resolved] groups page missing when activatedBP 1.7 trunk is not actively supported in this forum at this time. Having said that, Testbp.org is running WordPress 3.6-bleeding, BuddyPress 1.7-bleeding, and bbPress 2.3-bleeding
@abarclay Great. All’s well that ends well 🙂
Marking this as resolved.In reply to: Forums listing on forums page badly formatted@scorpiouno unfortunately, your theme’s styles have overwritten the default forum styles that are enqueued by the bbPress plugin. For example, if bbPress is activated using the Twenty Twelve theme, the forums are styled as expected http://testbp.org/groups/buddypress-testers-614548248/forum/
Initial scan of your forum shows some style corrections you can add to the BOTTOM of your theme’s style.css file:
#entry #bbpress-forums ul {
margin: 0;
}
#entry #bbpress-forums ul li {
margin-left: 0;
list-style-type: none;
}
p.bbp-topic-meta img.avatar {
display: inline-block;
width: 14px;
}In reply to: [Resolved] How do I prevent users creating blogs?@jcollier Great! I like happy endings 🙂
@abarclay Strange. All menu links to BuddyPress components are working so I will guess that something changed possibly in the hierarchical structure of your other pages. To double-check, go to Appearance > Menus and Create a New Menu. Add links to the New Menu and save. Use that New Menu for your Primary Navigation and save. Check if issue is resolved.
In reply to: group forums conversion and styling@intimez the difference is that the internal BP/bbPress group forums are table-based while the bbPress sitewide and group forums are table-less. If you’ve customized the look of your group forums, you’d just need to port over any customization to the table-less ones in the group area.
In reply to: 404 Errors on member links and member searchI have set up buddypress 1.6.4 on WordPress 3.5.
– Should be on WP 3.5.1. Or was that a typo error?
– Did you go through the Installation Wizard after activating BuddyPress?
– Have you tried re-uploading BuddyPress plugin manually? i.e, via s/FTP etc?
– Are you using any membership plugin? Please deactivate and check if issue is resolved.
