In reply to: [Resolved] How do I prevent users creating blogs?
@jcollier have you cleared browser cache? Editing out the inline style you added via Custom CSS, the blog creation form is not there in your registration form. To double-check, I don’t see the blog creation form when I view your source code. The inline style to display none will not remove the form from source view.
In reply to: [Resolved] How do I prevent users creating blogs?@jcollier if you’ve selected “User accounts may be registered” then you should not be seeing that in your registration form. Could be that the JS to hide blog creation when it is disabled is missing in your theme’s /registration/register.php file. What theme are you using? If you change to BP-default theme, is the issue corrected?
In reply to: Buddypress Group Forums issue@chrchcol sorry, I cannot replicate the issue. The only times I’ve seen reports of such errors was in older BP versions where you install group forums via old Settings > BuddyPress > Forums which is not in the current instructions for installing the group and sitewide forums
– Did you by any chance use a webhost script like Fantastico/Softalicious/etc. to install your WordPress? If so, start from scratch and re-upload WP manually, i.e., via s/FTP etc
– Check on the off-chance that you have a bb-config.php file in the root of your WP install (same level as your wp-config.php) and delete it.

In reply to: Why buy plugin? I want to convert my own A/Vonly one video format is supported with the BP plugin
Sorry, not clear. Which BP plugin are you referring to?
In reply to: Buddypress Group Forums issue@chrchcol since you have a new installation, follow the updated instructions at https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
In reply to: [Resolved] BP 1.6 admin bar menu and profile editing@shanebp @ubernaut if you’re the original poster, you can “edit” your topic and just add [Resolved] before your topic title, which I’ll do now for this topic. There’s a cool new plugin by imath which makes it much easier to mark a topic as resolved in your own installations https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddy-bbpress-support-topic/
In reply to: Plugin to display connected users@yanis97 something’s getting lost in translation. Could you explain further or be more specific? Going by my first read of your post though, doesn’t look like we have that kind of plugin.
In reply to: Missing ADD MEDIA@pjfbncil If you deactivate BuddyPress, does the media button show up?
In reply to: Missing ADD MEDIAWhere are you hosted? I suggest starting from scratch. This time, do not use Fantastico but install WordPress 3.5.1 manually, i.e., s/FTP upload.
In reply to: [Resolved] Change Avatar CSS@bennygill add “p.bbp-topic-meta img.avatar” to the list above, like so:
.bbp-body .bbp-topic-title img.avatar,
.bbp-body .bbp-topic-freshness img.avatar,
.bbp-template-notice img.avatar,
.bpp-author-avatar img.avatar,
p.bbp-topic-meta img.avatar {
width: 14px;
}@fallingup What do you mean by “I can edit every template fine except for the registration and activation templates”. You mean you can change the HTML markups in the rest of the 15 files and not in register.php and activate.php files? Site url?
In reply to: Missing ADD MEDIA@pjfbncil Contributors and Authors should be able to upload media by default. Have you tried deactivating plugins one by one except BuddyPress and checked which plugin/s might be causing the issue?
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.6.4/bp-themes/bp-default/members/single/profile/edit.php would normally correspond to huddle/members/single/profile/edit.php file. Since you’re using a premium theme, we have no way to know if the theme author changed the HTML structure of that page. Back up your theme’s edit.php file and watch out that when you change the PHP tags, you won’t mess up the HTML tags in return.
In reply to: Not sending New User's password@resom Thank you for posting back what the issue was.
I would suggest that you also post at s2member’s WP forum to report this issue with current BP version so they can look into it and fix it https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/s2member
In reply to: WP Symposium Vs BuddyPresshow to migrate total content from buddypress to wps with out disturbance to users and members of the website
@indirakrishna if that is your goal, then the best place to ask at their forums re migration tools, if any, from BP to WPS https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/wp-symposium
Good luck.In reply to: BuddyPress Alternative WP Symposium@indirakrishna this thread is two years old. Please continue your post at https://buddypress.org/support/topic/wp-symposium-vs-buddypress/
Closing this topic. In reply to: Activity Stream not showing network posts/commentsHave you tried changing to BP Default theme where BP is installed, creating a new post and comment in a/another subsite and checking if it shows up in activity stream?
In reply to: Not sending New User's password@resom that’s really strange. Is this a new installation? Have you deactivated plugins except BuddyPress to check if there’s some conflict?
In reply to: Step 3 For Create A Group Does Not Work@intimez the documentation for installing the forums has been overhauled and the solution is there per my post in the link you gave above.
In reply to: Installation Wizard Failure Due To Doc Confusion@intimez I misunderstood your first post. I’ve just updated the instructions for installing sitewide and group forums. https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
In reply to: Main Blog stopped accepting any file uploadsI see that you’ve also posted at https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-buddypress-activity-plus-impossible-to-upload-a-picture-and-add-link-not-working
a) It could be that the Activity Plus plugin needs to be updated or
b) it is also possible that you’ve maxed out the default network settings for that blogsite. Did you get any warning of that sort?
– Go to Network Admin > Dashboard and click on Settings > Network Settings and check if there was any limitation set there in “Site Upload Space Quota” section
or
– Go to Network Admin > Sites and click on the “Edit” link below the blog/site where BP is installed i.e., where you’re using the Activity Plus plugin. Click on the Settings tab and in the panel which shows up, look to the very bottom of that page, check “Site Upload Space Quota” if it was left blank to default
c) could also be that another plugin has set the upload space quota
d) could also be just another plugin conflicting with the activity plus plugin. In reply to: Registration Form Not Submitting@stobywan I’ve closed https://buddypress.org/support/topic/registration-not-working-5/ I have answered you here but you did not respond. Per that topic, registration stopped working after you upgraded to BP 1.6.4.
Please explain exactly what the bottleneck is for your registration.
– Can registrant complete registration process in your site?
– Is your installation sending activation emails or not?
– Is the registrant receiving the activation email or not?In reply to: Altering Activity Window Component SizesYou can adjust vertical spacing by changing either the padding-bottom or margin-bottom of the elements within the activity stream. You can change it from pixel sizes to rem or em or percentage when screen size diminishes. The thing is, different “responsive” or “adaptive” or “mobile” theme authors do it differently. Therefore a modicum of CSS knowledge will help you adjust any theme to your taste.
As to BP 1.7: Yes, we’re all looking forward to it for sure.
In reply to: BuddyPress Compatible@patrykos360 tell your friend to post here, NEW TOPIC. Nothing to lose. We’ll see if the theme’s code would allow us to implement it painlessly
Information on what theme is being used would be good. It may be that we have already template-packed the theme already. If not, then we’ll ask for the codes. You know the drill 🙂
