Good suggestions. Keep them coming.

More sidebars huh? That’s easy, could do an if is statement and cycle through what page your on and then output that sidebar. In reply to: BuddyPress Tweet Button plugin@thekmen yeah I know I’m trying find a way to do that. Twitter is not letting me put in code to pull the permalink dynamically.
@nit3watch I thought there was one already. If it’s a BP plugin then yeah you tag is buddypress

requires theme editing.
In reply to: How to let users submit blog posts? To allow people to post from front end you will have to use something like gravity forms but then there will be a problem if they need to edit such posts. There really isnt a good solution at the moment. It’s a highly requested feature that some developers are working on.
In reply to: Make a frontpage like wordpress.COMYou have to create a WP loop to show the posts.
In reply to: How to make Activity the default page for Community? Can you change the permalink for ‘community’ to url.com/activity ?
In reply to: I need ideas for theme creation.I’m referring to ideas for types of networks. Like a sports site, then I’d code the groups to be teams instead of groups. I already have this theme in the works. Wanted to get an idea of what people need.
In reply to: Trying to use BP with existing themeThat plugin is a quick fix. You will have to add styles to your themes CSS file to make it look right. Each theme has it’s own id’s and classes so there would be know way to make it look right for every theme out of the box.
My suggestion is get firebug firefox add on and get to crackin’!
In reply to: How to create a landing page on BP?What do you mean? A front page thats different than when logged in?
In reply to: Nothing works. You could add that same thing to your .htaccess file as well.
In reply to: Nothing works.Make sure your .htaccess file is correct
In reply to: How to add dropdown menu to navigation tabsSearch for a plugin and then you will need to replace the navigation links in your header.php file with the code to call the plugins drop down menu. You can also add support for wp menus and then do the css or javascript coding to make it drop down.

Are you using a normal WP theme? If so you have to install BuddyPress template pack plugin.
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-template-pack/
Then in admin>> reading chose a different front page
In reply to: I think my site has been hackedIf you changed the folder groups to projects that will not work. The file structure should remain intact. Also, you should change the name of groups to projects via the language file, not via template files. I wrote a post about how the dev’s of BP should make changing groups to something else easier but they said there is no other way to do it properly besides the language file.
In reply to: bettercodes.orgI meant that when you hover the two other link areas dim but the place you hover doesn’t change. Seems backwards.
Maybe the hovered area needs something that changes too?
In reply to: ClothUnderground.com – ”Launching” TomorrowI would remove the border radius from the top of the content area. Looks good.
If you are using a child theme then you do not need to worry about the default theme unless you ned to modify a file. At that point you copy the file to your child theme.
The regular WP twenty ten them will not work with BP out of the box that is why there is a BP version.
In reply to: bettercodes.orgLooks good, my only thing right way that I dont like is the hover on the three boxes below header. It feels backwards. Normally what you hover changes not things around it. Also, I think the headers on the content areas are too “3D” feeling. Maybe it’s the dark shadow around them.
oembed plugin allows posting from certain sites but so far, and its the most requested feature, there is no upload on activity or forum postings.
Child themes do not get deleted, only the files inside wp-content/plugins/buddpress/bp-theme
This is why you never modify those files. if you want to change those files, then you copy them to your child theme folder preserving the folder structure.
If you want to change the header then you copy over the header.php to child them folder and BP will use this file instead of the one in the plugins folder. No fear of it getting wiped out on upgrades.
In reply to: Please Help: Broken ThemeMake sure you activate the default BuddyPress theme or create a suitable child theme. BuddyPress is more than a plugin, you need a compatible theme.
In reply to: Custom Banner ad integrationIn reply to: How to solve the problem of alignment in practice?@Dudeski I think it’s a BP bug. I’ve seen other posts on here where people cannot edit themes via admin.
In reply to: Missing Side bar in custom theme / formatting issuesDid you create a child them for BuddyPress or is this just a WP theme? Need link.
