    and a quick blog post: http://dev.benoitgreant.be/2009/11/24/buddypress-quickpress/ … working perfect…

    no need to require something important when it is already created.

    thanks for the info, because i simply deactivated all these features on my first BP site, as they make the site filled with too much stuff…

    though i’d like to have 1.2 in hands today… rofl

    wooooo….. ghostly

    actually i have no idea why either… but i know that i had to have at least one user with all the fields filled to see the field names in the list…

    the auto-install of this plugin is not working, Benoit will have to work this out… files structure is wrong.

    you have to install the plugin sitewide… that’s the only reason why the panel is not showing.. :)

    and i can say that having a bp-plugins folder would avoid a load of errors like this, making support for these addons a simplier life.

    something i will need is a plugin that make it possible to show all the pictures from posts from a single category…

    ok, as i forgot to update this announcement, you can visit the site and you will see that we switched from a eye-candy style to a serious professional design, based on a wpmudev style…

    i customized the style and it is not completed yet… looks like my site will become popular in the sync swimming universe, as it is actually the one with the biggest content and the larger activity, as we’ll be a complete community in a week or two… *(time to register all the members of the club)

    ok, so how come my site is now on that list?

    actually you have two situations here:

    1- add plugins to your Buddypress front-end

    2- add plugins for your members blogs

    if you need plugins for your front-end, check that they are compatible with buddypress but also read the HowTo, because some of them need to be activated sitewide, some not.

    if you need plugins for your members blogs, you have to check if these plugins are compatible with WordPress…

    notes: do not install plugins that are morethan 300 days old, for safety and compatibility. what works with WPMU will work within Buddypress as well.

    and btw, yes, it’s a use it breake it situation in the WordPress community, because not all plugins are coded by pros, and they are not tested before added to the repository. for each plugins you have rating and comments, so read them.

    and if you still want to keep the default BP forums, you can apply permission like here: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/disallow-ordinary-users-to-create-groups so just the admin can create groups, and you simply use your admin level to create these groups, and have the first group to host all the forums, making only account #1 the forum manager, showing all the forums at the same place… that’s what i plan on doing… :)

    yeah, the actual css/templates of BP are crap to integrate, you will have to edit most of the elements if you want them to look standard. that’s why i switched from a real pro theme to a basic BP theme with no style…

    the complain could go to the designer who made the “default” skeleton way too complicated at first… ;)

    the only themes that are really easy to manipulate are these 3: http://premium.wpmudev.org/themes/ … had to pay to access them, but i’m happy with the result…

    sure we need better meta tags management in BP… ;) someone for the job?

    lol

    @nexia

    sorry to interfere, but i don’t get it… SEO is supposed to be based on the actual content of each page and optimize it to be more compatible with search engines… SO… why do i have to fill all these pages within the plugin? i really don’t see why we have to edit each page’s meta and tags to configure this engine… isn’t it supposed to be the opposite, the engine is built to enhance our templates without the need to interact each time…

    AARRGGHHHHHH mass populate…. sound harsh… i’m a lazy guy… ROFL

    ok, will look at your suggestion, thanks r-a-y

    that’s not new… i think the adminbar need to be a widget… i’ve integrated it to my own navigation using an independant function to create the whole thing, and deactivating the bar the whole way.

    just as a detail for Andy’s suggestion, is that kind of “remove_action” thing work for plugins loaded after bp-custom.php is loaded?

    *(because i want to deactivate some actions from plugins where these actions are unneeded)

    hum, i’m confused as well, because i never was “alerted” in my admin panel that a new version was available, so i thought there was no auto-update…

    maybe i was too quick to update and the feed was not sent at that time.

    in “some” situations, the server refuse cURL access to check gravatar.com’s content, making it impossible to see the page where you have to select an avatar for your group or member… you can ask your webmaster about this, or we need a check thingy inside BP that would switch off any cURL access if it is disable on your installation.

    i personally prefer asking permission instead of forking anything, the GPL is not that free.. :)

    btw, Nicola was on the site today, so i suppose he is reading the forum as well… ;)

    @nexia

    hum, Nicola, can you update your releases?… or give-over your work so guys can update them?

    these tools are “useful” only if they work, and it look from your site that you’re not updating anything for a long period…

    @nexia

    what is announced is about bugfixes and security, so usually it’s about deep core files, not really related to plugins and addons, so Buddypress would not be touched. “logically”

    ;)

    after uploading all the files, i simply did the usual, mysite.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php and the system indicated that i did not have anything to do, database was up to date *(i do not remember the sentence in english, my board is french)

    so it now shows 2.8.6 in the bottom of the wp-admin…

    no bug so far, browsed most of the pages without any problem.

    someday we will have the same auto-update we see in WP… ;)

    ok, testing the upgrade, will see if my site explode!
