In reply to: users complaining
a permalink – this way it can be referenced later (favorite, bookmark, etc)
In reply to: users complainingfor some reason the “view” permalink for activity records theme file does not have a sidebar and the css is set for a smaller width. (can change that with a child theme/css)
In reply to: Is there a latest forum topic widget?if you use the forum extras plugin – then the widget is included. i only provided the standalone widget code for those who wanted it w/o the group forums extras plugin.
In reply to: BuddyPress Spama few things i’ve done

In reply to: Where Is The Code for The WP-Admin-Bar?bp-core/bp-core-adminbar.php
i modified the syntaxhighlighter.php plugin file (just easy for my case)
In reply to: Change filter selection box for activity streami’d study up on the ajax requests when that filter selection is made. (and double check if the passed in activity type can include multiples/comma separated list)
I have markitup running in the textarea
http://etivite.com/groups/buddypress/forum/topic/quick-tip-adding-markitup-to-group-forum-textareas/#topicMake sure you have 1.2.4.1 (due to this: https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2287)
A few things changed since my first post above, I don’t know if this will work but here is what I have in syntaxhighlighter code (v2.3.

add_filter( ‘bp_get_the_topic_post_content’, array(&$this, ‘parse_shortcodes’), 7 );
add_filter( ‘group_forum_post_text_before_save’, array(&$this, ‘encode_shortcode_contents_slashed’), 1 );
add_filter( ‘group_forum_topic_text_before_save’, array(&$this, ‘encode_shortcode_contents_slashed’), 1 );add_filter( ‘bp_get_the_topic_text’, array(&$this, ‘decode_shortcode_contents’), 1 );
add_filter( ‘bp_get_the_topic_post_edit_text’, array(&$this, ‘decode_shortcode_contents’), 1 );I have all the the_content, comment and widget hooks filtered out. (since i only care about syntax within the forums)
Which reminds me – I want to enable this on activity stream content as well.
In reply to: Is bp dying a slow death?@johnjamesjacoby said: because no one is testing the branch and no one is reporting back how various fixes have affected them.
I really dropped off on the bug hunts and running sites off of trunk (2 locals and a live). Since 1.2.x hit – my focus shifted onto contract work and building out plugins for such. I don’t see myself getting back into that groove until 1.3 is the next milestone. ( i’m still on WP2.9
)As for everything else – this thread reminds me of the discussions on bbPress.org a year or so ago when communication on that project went dead – and the pitch forks came out. I think some of the frustrations come from wanting BP to bake a cake and run our errands. But at the end of the day – we all benefit from a freely available software package that can be shaped like playdoh. (nothing cool happens until you mash up the colors or eat it)
In reply to: Limmitng User Acess to Group UpdatesIn reply to: Forum slow to load, show post form open then closes.i believe that form is hidden by jQuery after the page loads – i’ve noticed only when a server/network is slow.
In reply to: Private group RSS?https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/http-authentication/ ? (maybe extract what is needed and wrap it around the activity rss feed pages?)
In reply to: Question about Forums vs. GroupsIf you want to divert your members from using the whats-new within the group – create a child theme for the file activity/post-form.php and then wrap the entire html code in this if statement: (this still allows the group admin/mod to post status updates within a group)
if ( !bp_is_group() || ( bp_is_group() && ( is_site_admin() || groups_is_user_admin( $bp->loggedin_user->id, $bp->groups->current_group->id ) || groups_is_user_mod( $bp->loggedin_user->id, $bp->groups->current_group->id ) ) ) ) {
}
In reply to: How do you resize images on a forum post?ul#topic-post-list li div.post-content
In reply to: How do you resize images on a forum post?a simple css max-width for the forum post content? otherwise javascript?
In reply to: New post creates new group?Sounds very unique (doubt a plugin)
For creating groups – have a look at groups_create_group in bp-groups.php – easy enough to create a group on the fly
In reply to: users complaining@dennis_h huh, i just noticed load more is no longer working too… is that in trac?
as for all the forum vs activity – i’m still hacking away at an activity stream discussion to replace bbpress. i hit a snag and more important projects came up so i’ll try and revisit it soon.
i still think the activity stream is the core of buddypress – if you can wrangle it and tone down the duplicates (ie, for blog comments/posts/forums topics/posts remove the excerpt and just make it a one liner with a permalink to blog and comment) – xxxxx user left a comment on blog xxxxxx. That is the nice thing about BP – change whatever you want.
i also have another advanced plugin – this would replace blog comments with the activity stream (though i don’t know how this works with a wpmu setup – single it works great)
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-activity-as-blog-comments/In reply to: Is there a latest forum topic widget?@tfblogs Like I mentioned above – those are the only pages explicitly where the widget won’t load up. If you grab just the widget code off my demo site – then you can modify it to suit your needs. (hard for me to know what is causing your problem – tested with frontpage set as activity stream or blog posts and it works fine here)
@rossagrant – i updated the code on my demo site with a different naming schema – just grab all the code from there again. (as the same name with the forum extras plugin would cause a WSOD)
In reply to: Edit Number of Latest Topics on /forums/ ?append it?
if ( bp_has_forum_topics( bp_ajax_querystring( ‘forums’ ) . ‘&per_page=5’ ) )In reply to: Remove “Visit” from the admin barjust by looking at the source code (in this case open up bp-core.php and you’ll see where bp-custom.php is referenced prior to the adminbar code) + another great plugin if you have a development setup -> https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-hook-sniffer/
In reply to: Getting the current logged in user ID?if you just need to check if a user is already a member of “a” group – then use one of the built in functions:
groups_get_user_groups( $bp->loggedin_user->id ) – returns list of ids
or
groups_total_groups_for_user( $bp->loggedin_user->id ) – returns a basic count which is wp_cachedIn reply to: Is there a latest forum topic widget?the only pages it won’t load on is forum component index || bp_is_register_page() || bp_is_activation_page() || bp_is_user_blogs()
In reply to: Add “My Friends” link to My Friends widgetbp_loggedin_user_domain() . ‘friends/my-friends/’
In reply to: Upgrade to WP 3.0; BP forums no longer worktried disabling all other plugins? (maybe one is conflicting) anything in the server error logs? (possible to enable php error reporting for one request? and see if anything shows up)
