In reply to: Buddypress upgrade 1.1.2 to 1.2.8
See my earlier post above.
A couple of great themes at http://BuddyLite.com
A Google search would turn up many more.In reply to: Buddypress upgrade 1.1.2 to 1.2.8Are you talking about the “BuddyPress Default Home Theme 1.0.3 by Andy Peatling” ? If you are, that theme has long since been updated. Buddypress comes with its own default theme which is now at version 1.2.8… and 1.3 is coming soon to a browser near you!
In reply to: Buddypress upgrade 1.1.2 to 1.2.8You can check out my themes at http://BuddyLite.com.
Lots of customization options in both free and premium versions: widgetized front page, footer, header and lots more…In reply to: Buddypress upgrade 1.1.2 to 1.2.8“Still wonder about splog signups, do I need to do anything?”
You could try this plugin:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/moderate-new-blogs/
Supposed to be compatible up to WP3.0.5 but you can give it a shot.In reply to: Admin Bar Is Gone?Did you try with the default BP theme? If that woks OK, then you’ll need to check the changes you made to footer.php
In reply to: Admin Bar Is Gone?@JamieWade
I’m answering your update here ‘cuz code doesn’t post well in update replies…
Make sure “ is present in your footer.php file, just before the closing “ tag. Your adminbar should come back.In reply to: Admin Bar Is Gone?Did you change your theme? If so, make sure the call to wp_footer is present in footer.php of the new theme.
If all you want to do is replace the bp-adminbar with the new WP version, simply add this to your functions.php file:
`remove_action( ‘wp_footer’, ‘bp_core_admin_bar’, 8 );
remove_action( ‘admin_footer’, ‘bp_core_admin_bar’);
show_admin_bar(true);`In reply to: Add/Remove components on item-navIn reply to: Zebra styling Profile PageYou can get the entire global.js code here: http://pastebin.com/32r9bK8d
Be sure to make a backup copy of your file before replacing it with this just in case stuff breaks!
Actually, the remove_action code is correct. But you should avoid modifying core Buddypress files if and when possible to prevent having to do everything over again when you upgrade. The code should be added to the functions.php file of a BP child-theme.
To learn how to make your own child-theme, see the codex here: https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
In reply to: Add wp_admin_bar to a BP themeHi again! As I mentioned in my 2nd post: “Removing the bp-adminbar is easy, it’s calling the wp one afterwards that’s got me stuck.”
Removing the bp-adminbar is not the problem. The problem is in showing the WP bar after removal of the bp-adminbar. Or, I should say: the problem WAS… It turns out the call to display the WP bar is surprisingly simple: `show_admin_bar(true);` So, the following in functions.php efectively replaces the bp-adminbar with the WP version. Now I can create the switch for my theme. Thanks for your help!
`define ( ‘BP_DISABLE_ADMIN_BAR’, true );
show_admin_bar(true);`In reply to: Add wp_admin_bar to a BP themeThanks, but I think your last post was in answer to the last poster’s question in this thread:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/show-bp-admin-bar-while-in-wp-admin-only-and-hide-it-in-the-rest-of-the-site/`remove_action( ‘admin_footer’, ‘bp_core_admin_bar’ );` effectively removes the adminbar from the backend, but that’s not what I’m trying to achieve.
I’m trying to replace the bp-adminbar with the WordPress adminbar in a Buddypress theme.In reply to: Add wp_admin_bar to a BP themeThanks. The end result is precisely what I’d like to achieve. But I’d like to be able to do it in functions.php so it can be included as a theme option (ie – a switch to select either BP or WP adminbar). Removing the bp-adminbar is easy, it’s calling the wp one afterwards that’s got me stuck.
In reply to: New theme – BuddyBuilderGreat news: BuddyBuilder v1.1 is now available. Some new features and options are just itching for you to discover them and play with them!
For details on what’s new, see the following post at BuddyLite.com:
http://buddylite.com/2011/notices/new-in-buddybuilder-v1-1/Unfortunately, the redirect options I had promised above are proving a bit more challenging than I had anticipated, so that’s still on the drawing board for a future release. So here’s a preview of what’s new in this version:
– Add Your Affiliate ID
– Add a Custom Favicon
– New Searchbar Placement Option
– New Logged-In Only Custom Menu
– New Logged-In Only Page Template
– New Community Dropdown Option
– New Login/Signup Form Options
– Create a Splashpage for Your Homepage
– New Menu Presets
– Admin Panel Redesign with a New Layout
– A Few CSS FixesHope to see you in the BuddyBuilder forums and… have fun!
Remember, BuddyBuilder is a premium theme, but you can also get your hands on a cool freebie: BuddyLite.
BuddyLite has nowhere near as many features and options as BuddyBuilder but, if you’re keen on getting your hands dirty and know your CSS, then BuddyLite is the way to go.
Add the following snippet to your theme’s functions.php file:
`function remove_adminbar_from_mainsite() {
if(‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’)
remove_action( ‘wp_footer’, ‘bp_core_admin_bar’, 8 );
}
add_action(‘wp’, ‘remove_adminbar_from_mainsite’);`In reply to: Can admins delete membersAs the universe is apparently an ever-expanding phenomenon, so too does ‘everywhere’ get just a little bit bigger every time we look

Remove the “ from the 2nd line or you’ll get errors.
`= 1) : ?>
[members-loop or other content here]
`This says: (if) 1st condition is met, do something,
(else) do something else,
then close the conditional (endif).In reply to: Can admins delete membersGo to your WordPress backend and click “Users”. If you’re running WP-single, you’ll find it under the “Plugins” menu; if you’re running multisite, you can find the link in the “Super Admin” menu.
Check each user you want to delete, then in the “Bulk Actions” dropdown at top-left, select “Delete”.
Click “Apply”. You’re done.In reply to: Disabling buddypress theme.Scroll to the bottom of your WordPress sidebar where you’ll see a link labeled “Theme Settings”. Click on it, then under the “Buddypress” tab, you’ll see an option to turn the login sidebar on or off.
In reply to: Finding the right domain host for buddy pressI use Bluehost (shared) but, as they domain-map addon domains (thus their “Unlimited domains” hype
) they don’t support wildcards or subdomains either. They do however have a very affordable dedicated server package if you’re anticipating high traffic and heavy server loads… which is what we all aspire too, I think
In reply to: Zebra styling Profile PageThanks for pointing that out… I hadn’t even noticed that the background of entire xprofile groups was alternating rather than each row.

The patch for bp-default/_inc/global.js works just fine on my install.In reply to: Zebra styling Profile PageYup… I use it every day!

http://getfirebug.com/In reply to: Zebra styling Profile PageYou can find the CSS for the alternate table rows in buddypress/default.css around line 888.
