My opinion 96 mb minimum…if you have a lot of plugins and traffic (mine is set at 128mb).
I’m using this plugin with BP to help figure out usage and I hope it will help you too:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-memory-usage/In reply to: Password strength featureAnybody have any thoughts on modding the above minimum password-length plugin to make it work for BP?
Polite BUMP.. can somebody answer the question that I posted about the patch that is completed and now pushed back to 1.3 and using it in 1.2.6 with regard to reversing the forum topic order…
I am so thankful for this forum and people like you on it. I apprecieate your feedback. Since the people that I dropped never completed their registration (i.e. never were validated) They were never added to those tables… so it looks pretty clear to me, I don’t see any stream/member info…because they never were added (lost in limbo somewhere until validation I guess). @techguy
Hey @techguy, I dropped some of the users that showed up in the query (not having validated) from the wp_users table, but then I noticed that there was a couple discrepencies with the user numbers on the user admin… so I did some checking and noticed that their user_id was also in the users_meta and xprofile_data… so I cleared there particular user_ids from those tables… and everything went back to “normal”….
So I learned a good lesson here…find them with the query above (which works perfect) and then pull them from the the back_end of wordpress so all the related table data gets cleared….
Everything is working fine now… but I’m slightly worried that I messed something up because those particular data was cleared. Thoughts?
I backed everything up yesterday (but not before I pulled the data 3 hours ago)… another lesson there.
OK SCRATCH this… I know what the problem was…
In reply to: Password strength featureHere is an unlisted plugin (that doesn’t work) but could give some braniac here on BP an idea of how to make a minimum password plugin for BuddyPress…seems like a great idea to me…
http://www.itsananderson.com/plugins/minimum-password-length
I have wp… what would the query be?
In reply to: Private Message Notification Ghost…Rich this is already patched… if they want to patch it… VERY long/multiple file patch though… in the trac.buddypress.org site.
In reply to: ‘Page not found’ error while creating groupsHave you all looked at this?
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/page-not-found-errors/#post-63309I just did a simple search of “godaddy” on this site and it came up.
In reply to: WordPress 3.0 + Buddypress — User Creation Problems?Justin what is your Website address?
What version of BP and WordPress?
What version of PHP?
Does your host allow you to send PHP mail?
Have you tried with all plugins off?
Does it work with the default BuddyPress Theme?
This all works fine for me with BP 1.2.5.2 and WP 3.0 using…@djpaul can this trackticket patch be used in 1.2.5.2 or 1.2.6 (upcoming) or does it break something? I would love to have this reversed as well…
In reply to: WP-minify and new version of Buddypress@paul_gibbs we are also seeing issues using object-cache with BuddyPress and w3 total cache, most notably this manifests itself when trying to send Private Messages… We are using Minify, Database Cache, CDN (Amazon s3), and Browswer Cache (Developmental Version of Plugin)…
In reply to: set wmode=”transparent” for oembed plugin@r-a-y I got the same error as abu above when adding snipet to the functions.php re: transparent oembed
In reply to: BuddyPress.org’s Unified Search – How can I get it?@brajesh has updated this on his site and now, I can say it is working 100% for me and is a MUST have for all BuddyPress sites, IMHO.
Here is the link:Creating The sitewide global/unified search Page for your Buddypress Theme
In reply to: Forgot Password Link?Re: to an old thread… Where is the Widget login code so the above “lost password” link can be put in the sidebar? Probably a good idea for an ehancement… if the user logins wrong the first time the lostpassword link shows up in the sidebar… Meantime… does anyone know what file the sidebar login code is in?
The only thing I’ve found at the webmasters site slightly related is the robots.txt generator… am I missing something?
Possibly a Trac for 1.3+ enchancement then?
This very question just popped up on our Launch… Please check this @r-a-y et. al… Seems like there was never an answer here….
Using WP 3.0 and 1.2.5.2In reply to: BuddyPress.org’s Unified Search – How can I get it?Ok, so I went back to this because it’s need in our site… I got most of it to work:
#1. is fixed by pulling this code in the add-on to the functions.php
//show blogs search result
function bpmag_show_blogs_search(){
?><a href="" >
<?php
}
//Hook Blogs results to search page if blogs comonent is active
if(bp_is_active( 'blogs' ))
add_action("advance-search","bpmag_show_blogs_search",10);
#2 DOES work… something wrong with something I did when I tested it.
#3 Does NOT work despite reading through and trying a number of things a the DEV site.
http://buddydev.com/buddypress/creating-the-sitewide-globalunified-search-page-for-your-buddypress-theme/I posted on the site to get some help.. if/when I get an answer I repost here…
In reply to: How to make a private community?Good News… I think I figured out the above, all though I still don’t know why I had to add it…
I added this:
if ( is_front_page () )
bp_core_redirect( ‘http://musicpln.org/pln-posts/landing/’ );above
if ($bp&&($bp->current_component == BP_REGISTER_SLUG ))//buddypress
return;and now it all works like a charm… I’m sure somebody can make this look cleaner that I did, but it is effectivley working now…
In reply to: How to make a private community?Ok, spending evern more time on this… I went back to the idea of using @r-a-y ‘s modified regestered-users-only-plugin… Now it is 95% the way I want except the homepage is not re-directing to the landing page… every other page does this…. probably has something to do with the home page being the activity stream??? I’m copying the key changes I have done to the plugin below:
// This is a base array of pages that will be EXCLUDED from being blocked
if ($bp&&($bp->current_component == BP_REGISTER_SLUG ))//buddypress
return;if ( bp_is_register_page() || bp_is_activation_page() || is_feed() ||is_page(‘landing’) ) //buddypress)
return;$this->exclusions = array(
‘wp-login.php’,
‘wp-signup.php’,
‘wp-register.php’,
‘wp-activate.php’,
‘wp-cron.php’, // Just incase
‘wp-trackback.php’,
‘wp-app.php’,
‘xmlrpc.php’,
);// If the current script name is in the exclusion list, abort
if ( in_array( basename($_SERVER), apply_filters( ‘registered-users-only_exclusions’, $this->exclusions) ) ) return;// Still here? Okay, then redirect to the login form
bp_core_redirect( ‘http://musicpln.org/pln-posts/landing/’ );In reply to: How to make a private community?Hello BP gurus,
Just checking to see if any of you have any code examples for my privacy problem above… I would love to get this to work tomorrow before my launch… re: private community & redirect to different page for login (with login widget).In reply to: How to make a private community?Ok, I’m still dorking around with this… the goal is to have my site a register only site. When people go to musicpln.org they will be redirected to the landing page (http://musicpln.org/landing1) which is a BP page with a login widget. I also would like the feeds to not be blocked.
This code goes in the function.php file:
function sh_walled_garden()
{
global $bp;if( bp_is_register_page() || bp_is_activation_page() ||is_feed() || is_page(‘landing1’) )
// Where landing1 is the page slug of where I would like to redirect
return;if( ! is_user_logged_in() )
bp_core_redirect( $bp->root_domain .’/’. BP_REGISTER_SLUG );
// my activity page is the “homepage” and I don’t want to show any BLOG(s)
}add_action( ‘get_header’, ‘sh_walled_garden’ );
I would like this to redirect to the landing1 reference above (which includes the login widget) The url is http://musicpln.org/landing1
I saw that you put this code in a previous reply…
Where can I put this to make it redirect to the LoginPage above? How can I tie this altogether now?
In reply to: Search ActivityOh…. you guys have too much faith in my ability to comprehend all of this…. I’m a Symphony Conductor! Ok, I’ll give it whirl tonight.
Thanks.
