@Tmort ‘s position that it’s extremely complicated seems to be best answer. Makes sense.
Those directions don’t seem to work. I think I’ve followed them, cleared browser cache and cookies, but the site remains unchanged.
Is there one that can be embedded to the BP core components? Is there a plugin that would work seamlessly with the registration process?
Also, could users have the ability to add humor to encourage users to create strong passwords like with

Thanks.
I support some sort of way to get user metrics. I’m not sure if Google Analytics can provide this scope of information. It would have to come from BP’s core somehow or as I plugin I imagine.
@modemlooper’s suggestion works well. Admin is an admin and will have the same privileges.
I’m not familiar with the poster’s original question, but sometimes wordpress site owners will create a new admin account and delete the out-of-the-box admin to mitigate risk (thought minor) to the site.
It’s great to hear from you. I’m sure you’re aware the attention is merely excitement and enthusiasm for your hard work on a simple and effective plugin.
The early adopters will be glad to offer you feedback. I only saw an article on the old privacy plugin so I wasn’t sure. I’ll note to look on your Twitter page for updates. Thank you very much.
@LwEEs Thank you. That did the trick. That’s weird you have to go to that specific page to have it be acknowledged.
Where can we download the theme? If it’s not out, what’s your estimated release date? Thanks
@Peter That’s good if the latest version has an upload place that isn’t affected by upgrades through the automatic updater. I’ll do a fresh manual install and see how it goes. Thank you.
@Marcus I’m using in in WPMU and latest BP but it doesn’t seem to work entirely. The calendar layout appears, but the map, details of the event, and RSVP stuff doesn’t appear. What could be prevent the plugin from working properly?
Sounds good. Very impressed with the new 1.2.2 release. Keep up the great work!
Did an automatic upgrade from the wp-admin and got the following error message when I go to the plugin’s main page:
Warning: opendir(/wp-content/plugins/buddypress-group-documents/documents/) [function.opendir]: failed to open dir: No such file or directory in /wp-content/plugins/buddypress-group-documents/index.php on line 185
I don’t even know what that means. If any community members or Peter can shine some light on the issue, I would appreciate this. Thank you.
It looks like it adds mentions to the scope of the admin bar’s notification menu.
@rich! could you explain which file and where to make the changes to see this happen? This is more of a teaser than an explanation

Thank you.
@all. Yeah, you’re all correct about a few proprietary drag and drop widgets being not that valuable in the long run. The limitations are much greater than BP and don’t have the remarkable benefits of this forum. It’s great to see people post a problem/question and have it resolved anywhere from an hour to a day for free.
They’re customization package is a one time $350 fee that yields a product in 6-8 weeks. Yuck.
Again, open source has a wealth of benefits and value that SG couldn’t compete with. Thank you for the helpful feedback!
@josh101 How did use rpx to take care of the Facebook connect issue on your site? I tried it out but it doesn’t seem to work with BP 1.2 or the registration pages.
@geoffm33 the default avatar for the plugin: http://i49.tinypic.com/k3at76.png
@MrMaz I can do that, but I’m a novice/intermediate user. What part of the stylesheet should I look to? If the large link text is a link, but not the same color as other links on the site, what is its “name” in the stylesheet?
Thank you.
@MrMaz, please change the font color next to the globe icon to a link color, not the gray color
Users of the site had noooo idea that that text to the right of the globe icon are links. Since its large, in a heading font and gray, it’s reasonable for someone to have difficulty finding out that that’s how you get to the links.
Could you please update the code so it’s the same font color as links elsewhere on the site?? Thank you.
Well I’ll be a son of a gun…
Thank you @stwc. It seems there’s a lot of buzz for event plugins, but it’s a matter of someone making a stable one for users.
Maybe advanced search or filter? It’s only 5 pages, but some of the plugins are egregiously outdated or poorly rated so I don’t find it as useful as I think it could be.
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-real-names/
I tried that but the registration form doesn’t change and all and when I click the Buddypress button in the site admin it redirects me to my homepage. The title of the plugin sounds good, but if it worked that would be better.
I’m interested in this as well. Users will enter their name but create absurd, wacky usernames that isn’t in line with our site as a personal branding site.
And this wouldn’t encroach on any Facebook intellectual property? I only ask because I’d like to see it be a sustainable plugin if developed.
@ catinw12
Um, I’m not sure what you mean. Are you asking if I purge the older buddypress folder, upload the new one, then uploaded the any files I’ve customized? Yes. I left that detail out. That’s why the backup is essential! I made sure to overwrite some standard BP files with the saved customized files I’ve created.
I learned from Andy that it’s helpful to:
1. Deactivate the buddypress plugin.
2. Backup your content (I didn’t need to, but better safe than sorry)
3. Purge the buddypress folder and its contents from the plugins folder.
4. Download the latest version. Upload the “buddypress” folder back into the plugins folder
5. Activate the plugin. Done.
It may seem like an extra step, but I’ve found it was most effective.
When sorting by “Most Popular” it doesn’t always sort in descending order.
Also, could the link categories be on individual lines? If one has more than 4 or so, or the words are long, they smush together in one or two rows and can get confusing.
