Check out the “Auto Join Groups” plugin:
http://brentandmary.net/2009/10/24/bn-auto-join-group-plugin/
The plugin is more about targetting than having everyone join each group, but you should be able to play around with it to fit your needs.
In reply to: how to totally disable User-Blogs ?Login to the WPMU backend, navigate to “BuddyPress > Component Setup”, disable blog tracking.
Then disable blog registration.
Navigate to “Site Admin > Options”. Under “Allow new registrations”, select “Only user account can be created”.
In reply to: Modifiying Group HomepageYou have two options:
1) Use a child theme to override the group header
Copy “/bp-themes/bp-default/groups/single/group-header.php” to your child theme’s directory keeping the directory structure intact.
Make your modifications there.
If you don’t know what a child theme is, read up here:
https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
Stick with this method if you’re unfamiliar with WP’s actions and hooks.
2) Use BP hooks to add content to the group header
There are multiple hooks in the group header template that you could inject your content with.
The following two are probably what you’re after:
-bp_before_group_header_meta
-bp_group_header_meta
You could create your own functions and hook into these actions from your child theme’s functions.php.
If what I’m saying is completely foreign to you, read up on this:
In reply to: Install BuddyPress in a “sub-blog”Wait until BP 1.3 for official BP support for WP 3.0.
If you need this now, get WPMU and read the following codex article:
https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/install-bp-in-a-sub-blog
In reply to: Forum size issuesJust add what everyone has suggested and that is:
table.forum {width:100% !important;}Somewhere at the end of your Atahualpa theme’s stylesheet:
In reply to: Difference between BP on WP versus BP on WPMU??WP 3.0 merges the functionality of WPMU into standard WP.
BP 1.3 will support WP 3.0:
https://buddypress.org/about/roadmap/
With WPMU, you can use some nifty BP plugins like BP Group Wiki, BP Group Blog and BP Classifieds. These plugins do not work with the standard WP version of BP.
In reply to: Difference between BP on WP versus BP on WPMU??User blogs… that’s basically it.
In reply to: BuddyPress – Events Component (like facebook)That’s because BP-Events is not compatible with BP 1.2, and the status of the project is delayed:
In reply to: How to disable GravatarThis isn’t hard at all.
Apply a filter to:
bp_gravatar_url
Return a url to a default image.
[EDIT]
Just noticed that bp_gravatar_url only changes the domain… the params are still added at the end of the URL.
Might try applying a filter to:
bp_core_fetch_avatar
Write a function to see if “gravatar.com” exists in the image URL, if so, return a default image.
In reply to: Any Experience with JQuery Tools LibraryTake a look at your /wp-includes/js/jquery directory.
WP has the UI files separated by component, so it’s not bundled as one file.
So you should be good.
Still, FlowPlayer’s jQuery Tools is smaller as a whole.
In reply to: Group DetailsAny reason why you can’t use the existing group description for that?
In reply to: Any Experience with JQuery Tools LibraryjQuery UI is a little bloated, but you can customize the components you want to include:
Didn’t know the team at FlowPlayer have their own UI library.
Got to check it out!
In reply to: Coder needed for profile customizationFor those interested, you can private message or contact macspeed directly.
Locking thread.
In reply to: Adding validation in registration form?Or you can use an invite plugin – the invite code would be the answer and you manually need to add the question yourself.
That’s what I suggested
In reply to: Member Profile Nav Menu Edit HelpStick with language files:
https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/
They’ll do you good over the longhaul.
In reply to: Delete forums so I can go install new bbpressIf you’re not using group forums, just disable the forums component.
Then go about installing the external version of bbPress.
That too
When the new BP.org site relaunches with the group and forum components enabled, a proper venue for these things can be posted.
Until then, the job board on testbp.org (http://testbp.org/groups/buddypress-job-board/) can be used as a stop-gap.
In reply to: Diagonal member directoryIn reply to: Oembed and shortcode tag???Why don’t you just use the default oEmbed class in WordPress?
https://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds
http://www.viper007bond.com/2009/10/13/easy-embeds-for-wordpress-2-point-9/
Shortcodes work like this:
You can enable oEmbed support across all blogs with the New Blog Defaults plugin:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wpmu-new-blog-defaults/
In reply to: Is there a global url for profile pageIf you enable root profiles, you can accomplish that.
Add this to wp-config.php:
define ( 'BP_ENABLE_ROOT_PROFILES', true );For more nifty overrides, read this:
https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/changing-internal-configuration-settings/
In reply to: Oembed and shortcode tag???EDIT: Just re-reading this.
Do you want users to be able to post oEmbedded video on blog posts or in BP activities?
In reply to: BuddyPress ThemeIf you want to use an existing WP theme, use the BP Template Pack plugin to add BP functionality to your WP theme:
In reply to: Delete forums so I can go install new bbpressNo it doesn’t.
Read this:

Defects take precedence over enhancements.
If you mark your ticket as a defect, it will probably be spotted.
It’s great that you have patches attached to your ticket as well.
Also try bumping your tickets to the nearest milestone – 1.2.4 – instead of 1.3.
Keep in mind that only Andy and JJJ have commit access.
That’s only two people folks and there is practically a sea of tickets on Trac.
