In reply to: Remove Avatar Mouseover Showing Email Address?
I think I’ve noticed this in the past as well.
If you feel comfortable posting this to our ticketing system, please do:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/newticket (use the same credentials as you use here)In reply to: [Resolved] BP 2.2 beta 1 login avatarThanks for testing, @chubbycrow.
Going to ping @mercime for input here as she recently made changes to the avatars in widgets.
mercime – Okay to revert line 1558 from changeset 9341?
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/9341Or was there a reason for the 40px declaration?
In reply to: xProfile Required Fields BugHi @caldwellysr,
Thanks for testing the 2.2-beta.
There was a bug concerning xProfile fields, which should be addressed in:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/9345If you feel comfortable removing the lines referenced in
bp-core/bp-core-template.php, please do so and retest. Thanks again for testing!
So how do you get the themeing for buddypress if the wordpress theme does not support it?
Since you’ve been using BP Template Pack, you need to remove it. Read this article:
https://codex.buddypress.org/themes/theme-compatibility-1-7/bp-17-upgrading-template-packed-themes/You might need to restyle a few things in your CSS to make it gel with your theme though.
In reply to: pagination count and links don’t work.In BP 2.1, we have removed pagination counts for the activity component due to performance reasons by default:
Changes to bp_has_activities() queries in BP 2.1If you want to add it back, change your custom activity-loop.php template from:
<?php if ( bp_has_activities( bp_ajax_querystring( 'activity' ) ) ) : ?>to:
<?php if ( bp_has_activities( bp_ajax_querystring( 'activity' ) . '&count_total=count_query' ) ) : ?>Note: I haven’t tested this, but let me know if this works or not.
In reply to: Nginx blues: Connection reset by peerIn reply to: Register page only asking for username/emailBuddyPress does not have shortcodes.
– Remove the shortcode on the “Register” page.
– Also ensure that under “Settings > BuddyPress > Pages” that your register page is properly attached.
– If you’re using single-site, under “Settings > General”, make sure registration is enabled.@godsdead – Did you add the code in the correct place?
/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/functions.php?Please let us know.
If you are referring to the directory pages – “Activity”, “Members”, “Groups”, then simply edit the page title under the “Pages” menu in the WP dashboard.
In reply to: New 2.1 @Mentions – does it work?Test with a different theme like Twenty Twelve. If it works there and not on the themes you listed, then it’s a problem with the theme.
To be sure, did you edit
/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/functions.php?.If that didn’t work, run your browser’s web inspector and see what javascript errors pop up.
For example, here’s how to do this in Firefox:
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/Web_ConsoleIn reply to: Integrating AJAX Activity Stream with custom markup@shanebp – You’re definitely on point about the activity changes and bbPress. If you don’t have time to create a patch on the bbPress ticket, let me know and I’ll do it.
So to summarize, the activity comments are not being collapsed when you hit the “Load More” button, correct?
If so, this sounds like a javascript event delegation bug. Once someone else has duplicated this issue, can someone please post this on our ticketing system?
https://trac.buddypress.org/newticketUse the same credentials as you use here on bp.org.
In reply to: Using BP’s Status Updates as a Commenting SystemThis might not answer your question, but try BP’s built-in activity comment / blog comment synchronization feature.
To try this, login to your WP admin dashboard. Navigate to “Settings > BuddyPress”.
Click on the “Settings” tab. Check “Allow activity stream commenting on blog and forum posts” and save.
Now make a blog post and comment from the activity stream or from the blog post. Activity comments and blog comments should now be synched.

The alternative is this older plugin:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-activity-as-blog-comments/It used to replace the WP comments section with the BP activity reply system, but it’s been awhile since I’ve tested this one so it might not work any more.
In reply to: Integrating AJAX Activity Stream with custom markupThe bpdevel post says you need to add
'count_total' => 'count_query'to yourbp_has_activities()call if you want to keep pagination. So in your activity-loop.php, try adding
'&count_total=count_query'tobp_has_activities().In reply to: Upgrading 2.0.2 to 2.1 breaks registration templateAs hnla mentioned, if you’re using theme compatibiliy,
/wp-content/themes/our-theme/registration/register.phpis the wrong file to use for your overrides. This file is for older bp-default themes. BP 2.1 made the change so only bp-default themes can use this older template naming convention. If you only want to modify the contents of the registration template part and not the entire page template, you should copy:
/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/single/register.phpto:
/wp-content/themes/our-theme/buddypress/members/single/register.php.Then, you should compare your older registration mods and copy them to this file.
If you want to change the entire registration page layout (header, footer, etc), check out the Template Hierarchy codex article for more info:
In reply to: Activity feed Error when clicking on “comment”Yes you can do this. Make a backup of your theme and test on a dev environment before doing anything.
When you are converted over to theme compatibility, you might lose a few custom styles that you’ll have to rewrite the CSS for, but that should be it.
In reply to: [Resolved] How to disable bp-legacy cssJust updated the code snippet. Try again with the latest code and let me know if it works or not.
In reply to: [Resolved] How to disable bp-legacy cssYou have to probably run the function after everything else is enqueued.
Something like:
function my_dequeue_bp_styles() { wp_dequeue_style( 'bp-legacy-css' ); } add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'my_dequeue_bp_styles', 20 );In reply to: Using wp_dequeue_script for BP jsThe following functions register the scripts that BP uses.

https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/2.1/src/bp-core/bp-core-cssjs.php#L12The actual enqueuing occurs in

https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/2.1/src/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress-functions.php#L229In reply to: [Resolved] How to disable bp-legacy cssLike I said, as long as your custom BP CSS file exists in your theme –
/wp-content/themes/YOUR-THEME/buddypress/css/buddypress.css, the one bundled with BuddyPress will not load –/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/css/buddypress.min.css.If you don’t even want to include a custom BP CSS file in your theme, you could try using
wp_dequeue_style( 'bp-legacy-css' ).In reply to: [Resolved] How to disable bp-legacy cssDoes this mean that BP will ship with an unminified version of buddypress.css?
Sorry, I should clarify! BP already ships with an unminified version of buddypress.css. See
/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/css/buddypress.css.buddypress.min.cssis loaded unless theSCRIPT_DEBUGis set totrue. Most installs will not have
SCRIPT_DEBUGset so the minified version is loaded. However, when you override the CSS in your child theme, in BP 2.1, this meant that we looked only for
/wp-content/themes/YOUR-THEME/buddypress/css/buddypress.min.css, this broke customizations for sites relying on the CSS file to be named/wp-content/themes/YOUR-THEME/buddypress/css/buddypress.css.See https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/5888.

To fix this, we are currently proposing that BP looks for CSS files on a production site in this order:
1.
/wp-content/themes/CHILD-THEME/buddypress/css/buddypress.css(this can be minified or not, your call)
2./wp-content/themes/PARENT-THEME/buddypress/css/buddypress.css(this can be minified or not, your call)
3./wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/css/buddypress.min.cssIf your child or parent theme does not have a buddypress.css file, it will fallback on the bp-legacy’s minified CSS.
Does this clarify things? Or does this further add to the confusion 🙂
In reply to: [Resolved] How to disable bp-legacy cssI realize that I can overwrite the default CSS file using this structure in any theme:
/buddypress/css/buddypress.min.cssNote that
buddypress.min.cssis a bug and temporary. When v2.1.1 is released, the CSS file should be renamed back tobuddypress.css.Check out the fourth point in the “Known Issues” thread:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/buddypress-2-1-known-issues/This is a bug that is fixed and scheduled for v2.1.1.
In the meantime, add this interim fix to
