In reply to: Am I on a BP page vs plain WP page?
is_buddypress()should be a catch-all conditional for your needs. In reply to: Activity feed Error when clicking on “comment”How are you adding BuddyPress support to your theme? Your theme doesn’t appear to be a bp-default theme.
Did you do what danbp suggested and tried switching to a WP default theme like Twenty Twelve to see if the same thing happens there?
In reply to: Bug. Duplicate Buddypress Profile MenuI am using the bp-social child theme from wpmudev, even when all plugins are deactivated except buddypress the issue is still there with this customized child theme. Also when i switch to the parent theme bp-social there is also no duplicate menu with all plugins activated.
The problem sounds like it is coming from your child theme. Remove your customizations to some of your templates and see if this fixes your problem.
Try this and see if it works for you:
http://justinsilver.com/technology/linux/502-bad-gateway-nginx-buddypress/You’re using a child theme of bp-default. There were some issues during the release of BP 2.1.
See the first point in this thread for more details and a fix:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/buddypress-2-1-known-issues/In reply to: [Resolved] Translation for Spanish@ivanguinea – If you recently added some new strings on translate.wordpress.org, you might need to force a translation update to see the changes.
By default, translation updates get updated when WordPress checks for new versions of plugins.
One way to force this is by installing the WP Crontrol plugin and by forcing the
'wp_update_plugins'cronjob to run. Untested, but please do try and let us know if it works. In reply to: Activity feed Error when clicking on “comment”It’s a javascript issue when using the older bp-default theme.
See the first point in this thread with a suggested fix:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/buddypress-2-1-known-issues/Thanks for reporting, @michaeltransmissions.
I’ve added a fix for this here:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/attachment/ticket/5903/5903.01.patchLet me know if this works for you.
But even if the file still loads, will it work if the line numbers are off?
It should, but for new strings introduced in BP 2.1, you’ll need to merge your translation file with the .pot file from BP 2.1 –
/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/buddypress.pot.View the “Updating your custom language file” for how it’s done with poEdit:
We don’t have a tutorial for those using command-line tools though 🙂
See the latter section of:

In reply to: Users able to login without account activationSwitch your theme to a WP default theme like Twenty Twelve. Now, try duplicating your issue.
If you can duplicate your issue, then it’s a problem with your theme. Probably a rogue code snippet.
If you’re still experiencing problems, next, disable all other plugins except BuddyPress and try to duplicate your issue again.
Also, check your /wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php file if you have one.
In reply to: [Resolved] Translation for Spanishivanguinea – If you look at the Spanish translation on translate.wordpress.org, there are still some strings that haven’t been translated:
https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/buddypress/dev/es/default?filters[status]=untranslatedYou can help by translating these strings. If you decide to help and are not sure how to add your contributions, let us know and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Thanks for reporting, @qobalt.
Looking into it.
Update
This fix should work:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/attachment/ticket/5900/5900.01.patchIn reply to: How to downgrade to 2.0.3?@scaffies – I split your post because you replied to a 2-year old thread.
Your issues are probably related to a change we made to optimize our javascript, which broke bp-default themes.
See my response to a similar thread:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/bp-2-1-javascript-issues/If you want to downgrade, view this thread:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/buddypress-2-0-3-download-needed-please-help/In reply to: BP 2.1 – Javascript issues@androidforlife46 – I split your reply from the main 2.1 thread because your issues should have been placed in a new topic.
As for your issue, I’m guessing you are using a bp-default deriviative for your theme. There was an issue with javascript breaking on these themes.
For an interim fix, see:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/attachment/ticket/5889/5889.01.patchIf you’re using a bp-default theme, you should use this fix instead:
https://github.com/buddypress/BP-Default/commit/619efe8527847266c961fa43775eade42c7ff70dIn reply to: Can’t create Buddypress child themeCorrect! Let us know if you are successful in overriding a template.
In reply to: Can’t create Buddypress child themeAs of BuddyPress 1.7, you no longer need to make a child theme of bp-default to make your changes.
Follow this guide:
This is an example of customizing the Twenty Twelve theme:
In reply to: Problems with BuddyPress 2.1 updated from 2.02@marcella1981 – You should read this article about activity pagination on the BP development blog:
Changes to bp_has_activities() queries in BP 2.1It works for me. When I update my profile, I see a “X profile was updated” item in the activity stream.
Do you have any other details in order for us to duplicate?
Salutation needs to update their theme.
I’m guessing the Salutation theme is an older bp-default deriviative. Tell the Salutation developers to look at this:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/attachment/ticket/5889/5889.bp-default.patchWhat happens if you switch your theme? Do the same problems occur?
In reply to: Group BlogTry this plugin if you do not want to use multisite:
I haven’t tested it though, but quite a few people have used it and like it.
In reply to: Add an alt @user_nameI would also add a plugin that limits login attempts. This would prevent brute-force password attempts from happening.
In reply to: blog post mail notification errorcepeuh – Thanks for letting us know. Going to fix this up. In the meantime, you can wrap the
bp_activity_update_meta()function around aif ( bp_is_active( 'activity' ) )check to fix the problem temporarily.Or you can activate the activity component.
In reply to: Patsy disregards custom registration pageThanks for the report.
What customizations are you doing in the
register.phpandactivate.phptemplates?It does look like Invite Anyone is breaking due to changes in #5772:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/5772In reply to: blog post mail notification errorcepeuh – Do you have the activity component enabled? Also make sure you have network-activated BuddyPress.
