In reply to: page not found errorsIn reply to: Useful plugins required
1) https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-email-login/
2) no plugin exists
3) there might be a plugin for this… though I’m not 100% sure.The code I posted above should allow you to do what you mentioned.
Youtube videos in forum posts for all users can be done with the oEmbed for BP plugin.
In reply to: 404 ErrorGreat! Glad it works!
FYI, since wp_redirect() is a pluggable function, you could probably just recreate the function with your mod and create a small plugin for it! That way you won’t have to hack the WP core.
*Edit – Here’s the fix bundled into a quick plugin:
http://buddypress.pastebin.com/download.php?i=S8e3t2Se (updated July 24th, forgot to wrap a !function_exists call around the function)Save as a PHP file and add it to /wp-content/mu-plugins/ or add it to the regular plugins directory and activate network-wide.
In reply to: Error 500 on fresh install of BP with WP3.0BP doesn’t play nice with IIS. Not with PHP 5.
I haven’t read of the missing $wpdb variable before. Do you get any errors with just a plain install of WP 3.0?
In reply to: How does WordPress/Buddypress work?If you’re the admin of your WP site, you should see a “My Blogs” menu in your BP admin bar (located at the very top).
Mouseover this menu and find a link called “Dashboard”. Click on that and you should be good to go!
In reply to: Login bar and comment clashingThe bp-default theme is missing the comments_template(); function call in page.php.
You can add this yourself!
Copy over /bp-themes/bp-default/page.php to your child theme and add:
comments_template();just before the endwhile line.
By default, you are allowed to use a limited set of HTML tags like [img]and [a]. What type of tags are you wanting to use but can’t?
You could write a small plugin to either remove these restricting filters or expand the whitelist of allowed tags, but you have to have trust in your group admins!
I’m using the former in the following example (put this snippet in your theme’s functions.php):
http://pastebin.com/CWryrkDTLike I said, only do this if you trust your user base!
In reply to: How does WordPress/Buddypress work?Welcome to BuddyPress!
First of all, are you installing a fresh WordPress install with no prebuilt theme? If so, make sure you have BuddyPress activated, then in the WP admin area, navigate to “Appearance > Themes” and enable the “BuddyPress Default” theme.
In reply to: Error Message Help! Making a theme BP compatibleSilly question, but you do have BuddyPress activated on your site right? This is one of the first things that is fired when you have BP activated.
*Edit – Paul, you’re one step ahead of me!
It could be a problem with your server. However, this most likely means you have a broken link on your site.
Check your theme for broken images, stylesheets, etc.If you have access to the server error log, you can find out specifically which file is the culprit.
What do you have listed in your first profile group?
And yes, Paul is correct, you can modify the registration template in your child theme — /registration/register.php — to add additional groups. You just have to modify two lines in that template for this to work.
In reply to: Catchable Fatal Error in bp-core.php on line 566Okay, just re-reading this again. I don’t think you should use bp_core_signup_user().
For your custom script, you can try using wp_insert_user() and then add in the extra profile information later.Or, you can try using the Import From Ning plugin, which also works with CSVs:
http://teleogistic.net/code/wordpresswordpress-mu/import-from-ning/ (read the comment section)Did you create separate profile groups? If so, only the first profile group will be displayed on the registration page.
If you want to add all fields to the registration page, you have to add them all to the first profile group.
In reply to: Catchable Fatal Error in bp-core.php on line 566This is line 566:
if ( !$domain = wp_cache_get( 'bp_user_domain_' . $user_id, 'bp' ) ) {It sounds like you’re using some type of caching on your site. Try turning it off to see if the error goes away.
The function where this line resides — bp_core_get_user_domain() — only outputs a link to the user’s profile. Without knowing too much about your code, there’s not much we can do on our end.
@elizawhat – You need to finish your upgrade from WPMU to WP 3.0 properly.
Read and implement everything listed here:
http://developersmind.com/2010/06/17/upgrading-wordpress-mu-2-9-2-to-wordpress-3-0/Do you have a file called “buddypress/bp-loader.php”?
I would deactivate BuddyPress and all other BP plugins. Then I’d reinstall BuddyPress from scratch with a freshly-uploaded “buddypress” folder.Also make sure to turn off any caching plugins you may have enabled.

As a general rule of thumb, please do not post more than one forum topic based on your problem:

In reply to: Google Buzz buttonInstead of modifying a template file, you can also hook into the following action:
bp_activity_entry_meta.function my_gbuzz() {
echo ‘whatever’;
}
add_action( ‘bp_activity_entry_meta’, ‘my_gbuzz’ );In reply to: set wmode=”transparent” for oembed pluginThere’s a filter you can use: embed_oembed_html.
Do something like this:
http://pastebin.com/SnfW14ZC (updated, previous one had a typo)In reply to: Check if ( is_my_profile )If you’re using BP 1.2, try:
bp_is_my_profile()This doesn’t exist in the BP 1.1 series (which I’m guessing you’re still using), so here’s the complete function that you can plop into your theme’s functions.php:
http://pastebin.com/nfm8WFVfIn reply to: 404 ErrorI re-read your post. There have been noted problems with IIS and BuddyPress.
Here are some solutions you can try:

http://www.matthewcasey.co.uk/2010/04/01/setting-up-wordpress-mu-on-iis/In reply to: BP Not installed yet, need help firstIf you have other query_post loops running on the page, you might need to reset the loop.
Use something like wp_reset_query(); after a query_posts loop or use a WP_Query loop, which doesn’t require resetting altogether:
http://weblogtoolscollection.com/archives/2008/04/13/define-your-own-wordpress-loop-using-wp_query/This issue is addressed in the newer releases of BP.
Please use the latest release and report back.In reply to: Activation Email not being sentCool, glad that worked for you!
