In reply to: Strange behaviour of Latest Forum Topics widget
@nuprn1 Another update. It seems like it only affects topics made in the last couple of days. The group name won’t show when on an activity page.
I don’t think I have changed anything at all though except maybe update to WP 3.0.1 but that shouldn’t affect BP should it?
Will try and test some more but at a loose end with this one!In reply to: Strange behaviour of Latest Forum Topics widget@nuprn1 Sorry for all these updates but I keep finding things out.
I hadn’t fixed it on the main activity unfortunately as I thought.
The widget displays correctly if you have the ‘@admin mentions’ or ‘@logged in user mentions’ tab selected in the main activity during a refresh. If the ‘All members’, “My Groups’ or ‘My Friends’ tab is selected on a refresh then it doesn’t work correctly.Again this problem happens in the ‘Home’ tab of any group and no where else.
The strangest thing is that it doesn’t leave blank every group name in the widget, just a couple.
Hopefully we can get to the bottom of it!
Thanks! In reply to: Strange behaviour of Latest Forum Topics widget@nuprn1
I have fixed the problem by accident on the main activity page by placing the widget further down the sidebar. Not sure why that has anything to do with it but it fixed it on the main activity page. The widget is still having a problem in the group’s activity in the home tab of a group.
Now I understand the widget is dynamic and will only post topics from the group you are viewing but should it still say ‘posted in -‘ and then just blank or is that a bug?
I understand that they are posted in the group you are viewing but it would still be nice for it to say it.Thanks for your help Rich!
In reply to: Adding topic tags after topic creation?@nuprn1 Cheers Rich, probably a bit out of my league but I’m sure this will get revised in the next release won’t it?
In reply to: send mass email@jeremyltn Just for your info I did send the message from admin which is user ID 1 and yet the message to people still states that it’s between *blank* and the receiver.
Can you recreate this or is it something I might have done wrong?
Really appreciate your time on this, it’s an essential plugin! Thanks!
In reply to: I think my site has been hacked@DJPaul I have my name still set as admin and after reading stories regarding hacks etc would quite like to change it. What is the safest way to change it and will the old admin name still show on other parts of the site, e.g. the older activity etc?
In reply to: send mass emailThis is absolutely superb but just needs a bit of work. The headers error message upon sending a message needs fixing and also when viewing a message in the front end it states it is a message between [blank] and then gives the username of the receiver. This means when a receiver replies they effectively send themselves another message and not a reply to admin.
Is anyone currently working on this plugin? It’s just what the community needs.
@hnla If I stick to ONLY PDF then is that safe?
@pisanojm it works flawlessly, you will also need to tinker with the admin links to reverse their order too. Give me your email address and I’ll send you the edited file for the latest version of BP.
@r-a-y, yeah for now the cookie clearance seems to do the trick but for a site with busy forums this feature is a big part of BP which is needed. Could really do with a fix for 1.2.6
Who’s best to target for this. I don’t mind testing any patches etc.
@johnjamesjacoby I’m using WP 3.0 and BP 1.2.5.2
I cleared my cookies and it’s working fine now but not sure if it will revert back after more activity builds up.
I’ll see what happens and keep everyone updated.@lincme @r-a-y Thanks for the reply. It seems to be a cookie issue. If I clear my browsers cookies then I get normal ‘Load Mores’ but not sure how long that will last with new activity being added all the time.
That Trac ticket is 5 months old, I’m suprised this hasn’t been nailed yet.
The fix mentions that it hasn’t been tested thoroughly yet so I might wait to see if it gets an update soon. It’s quite a big problem in my opinion as members want to look back at what they have missed.
Have you looked at the patch @lincme?In reply to: Pay SiteS2member is without a doubt THE best membership plugin full stop! 5*
In reply to: Forum topics – can I make them sticky?Look on the right hand side of the forum topic you are in. Hit the ‘make topic sticky’ button. You can do this on multiple topics too.
In reply to: new version of BuddyPress Rate Forum Posts@dwenaus my mistake. I put it in the functions.php file in my theme and it’s worked brilliantly! THANK YOU!
In reply to: new version of BuddyPress Rate Forum Posts@dwenaus that looks great thank you so much. I just don’t see a function.php file in the rate forum posts plugin or am I supposed to add it elsewhere?
In reply to: Profanity Filter@alanchrishughes webpurify is now 100% BP compatible. You need to buy a $40 license but I’ve been using it for weeks and it works great. Their customer support is very good too!
In reply to: new version of BuddyPress Rate Forum PostsI think Dwenaus might be away at the min as I haven’t seen him on in a couple of weeks. Does anyone know how to remove the ranking from his plugin in the main forum directory?
Thanks! In reply to: Sending Mass PM as admin possible?@nahummadrid the ‘notice for all users’ only places the message in the sidebar for logged in members to see unfortunaelt.
I too would be interested in a ‘message all’ plugin if anyone knows of one?@nuprn1 Thanks Ruch! I actually just found what I had done wrong. I had left one filter as ‘is admin’ when it should have been ‘is site admin’.
All is good now!
Thankyou so much once again. We’d be lost without you!

@nuprn1 any ideas on this Rich? Still can’t find how to hide the delete tag on the member’s personal profile activity. Cheers mate!
In reply to: Forum slow to load, show post form open then closes.@nonegiven I too have this issue but only when I am logged in on an account that has joined thousands of groups.
I have 2000 groups on my site. Admin is a member of all of them and has multiple topics in each. When I log in as admin the page is a little slower to load as the page fetches the number of topics that are admins.
If I log in on an account that has only created a few dozen topics then the page loads quickly. I imagine it is something to do with MYSQL queries.
@nuprn1 Hi Rich! I have edited the bp_activity_delete_link in bp-activity/bp-activity-templatetags which seems to have removed the delete links for non admins in both the sitewide activity page and group activity but I can’t seem to track down where to filter for the activity on a members personal profile.
Do you have any ideas where it might be and am I still looking for bp_activity_delete_link?
Thanks
Ross :0In reply to: new version of BuddyPress Rate Forum Posts@dwenaus Hi mate, I asked you a couple of months back if there was a way to remove the rank of forum topics in the forums directory and you kindly gave me some info in the codex to look at in regards to removing the action but I’m struggling a bit with removing the correct code from the plugin.
Do you know what code it is exactly that I need to take away to get rid of the hook to the ranking?
Sorry to ask again but I’m pretty new to code and can’t seem to get it right.
Thanks
Ross
the delete links would need to be hidden in the profile activity of each member too.
Thanks!
