In reply to: Featured groups?
Not yet, there is no widget as per my knowledge which does this, you may use groups loop to do that. Btw you may use text widget to just put the links.
In reply to: Keep default bp theme but change main colorsThe best thing for you will be create a child theme from the bp-default. copy the css and change the color.
Use Firebug for firefox to help you to make the changes easily as you can see the line numbers where you need to make the changes.
where you can find the css files, well copy bp-defaults/_inc/css to your child theme, all the css will be there.
In reply to: Bug in Default Theme – Admin/Settings/Readingsorry, I was confused earlier. Thanks for clarifying.
Yes, It seems to be a bug, but it has to deal with the buddypress theme only. I checked with older theme and the same issue as you mentioned were there too.
Please put a trac ticket as Andy mentioned.
In reply to: Bug in Default Theme – Admin/Settings/ReadingIt is not a bug, you can set static front pages.
Login to wp-admin
go to Dashboard->settings->reading
Choose Front page displays, select a static page and save, It should work.
Edit: btw, if it does not work for you, which version of bp+wp/wpmu you are using.
In reply to: Create groups in 1.2In 1.2 the create group link has been moved to Groups directory page.
go to your site->Groups directory, you will see the link to create group.
Hope it helps.
In reply to: Privacy ?hi Peter
We understand you pointing to the issues. There is no problem with that. It is a community project and Automattic and Andy is doing the good things for us. Automattic does not get funds for supporting wp+wpmu+bp(well Now they may get as WordPress foundation has been formed).
Instead of criticizing, if we appreciate what they have done for us and politely ask for the features, I am sure, Andy is listening and will be glad to accomodate.
Buddypress is one of the great project and see how much improvement has been in recent times. Please do not take the things personal, and let us keep the community constructive, It will be better for all of us.
Hope you don’t mind my words. Yes, currently Bp is more developer friendly than the end user, but with time, It has improved so much and you may expect it to be much more end user friendly by bp 1.3(my guess)
Please let us keep it constructive.
@all, Please keep this thread free from personal attacks before DjPaul sees this thread
well, this should help you. You need the privacy component.
Check out Jeff’s privacy component here

You are most welcome

I will suggest putting javascript with template files, reason, the javascript is mostly dependent on template and will change in custom templates, so give the user the ability to customize without modifying the plugin.
The problem for loading comes, when you want to activate your javascript function after activity is called, as Andy suggested in trac,
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/1616
Using ajaxStop for determining the case, though it is not the most efficient way. I am working on a custom javascript event thing, and if Bp1.2 is delayed for 2 weeks, I will put my solution for Andy’s review.
In other case, using the wp_print_scripts action and wp_enqueue_script is your best recourse.
hi Erwin
A better way will be following the bp 1.2 style.
So, you provide different filters for loading template, but all of them loads the same Index/home by default, which acts as a multiplexer using conditions as done in bp 1.2 theme.
If you/a user really need to change this scheme, the filters can always be used to change template file.
for example,
//for loading user gallery Home page, I will do something like this in the screen function
bp_core_load_template( apply_filters( 'gallery_template_my_galleries', 'gallery/index' ) );and for loading single gallery page I do something like this in the screen function
bp_core_load_template( apply_filters( 'gallery_single_gallery', 'gallery/index' ) );So, both of these will load index which in turn loads further based on condition, but if a user do not wish to use hard coding in the theme with conditional, he can use the filters to manipulate this like
add_filter("gallery_single_gallery","my_single_gallery_template");
function my_single_gallery_template($template){
return "gallery/single/index";
}The reason I followed bp 1.2 style, It saves some typing and allows to reuse the layout+ I am trying to stick with the official style
In reply to: BuddyPress Links 0.2.1 releasedThanks for pointing

hi Daniel
This is related to theme not to the bp-links plugin. If you feel comfortable with css/xhtml, just use plugin-template.php as a base and create all the files in links directory based on that.
I am currently busy with a plugin and will be back to this theming again after that only, so if you can wait for 3-4 days, I will provide templates for bp-links/bp-events+updated cosmicbuddy for free [which I promised long ago there].
Otherwise, if someone have already templated cosmicbuddy for bp-events/bp-links, please point here.
Thanks
Brajesh
well I mean, the complete
<div class="widget-error">
<?php _e( 'Please log in and
add widgets to this column.', 'buddypress' ) ?>
<a href="<?php echo
get_option('siteurl') ?>/wp-admin/widgets.php?s=&show=&sidebar=blog-sidebar">
<?php _e( 'Add Widgets', 'buddypress' ) ?></a>
</div>Should be replaced by your custom code.
remove the ‘div’ widget error, and replace it with the code as mercime has pointed, that will make your hard coded functionality available to users when they do not add widgets, when they add widgets, this hard coded thing will not be shown.
In reply to: All fields for registrationhi Philipp
sorry, Missed it , will be adding the post tomorrow and drop here a link. Thanks for the message and pointing here. Do you want to see that with bp 1.2 or bp 1.1.3
In reply to: Creating a custom componentyes, you can have.
If you are using bp 1.2 , take a look at groups/single/home.php
Create your own home.php with conditionals and check for the individual group, include appropriate templates.
It will need a lot of templating though.
hi Mr Maz
first of all, I think, the Groups creation link is moved to directory page, It should be on the groups directory page.
Now to the question, for all my current developments I am supporting BP 1.2 default as the base theme.
But if a user asks for supporting the bp-classic, I will certainly do that. It all depends on how many people are going to use bp-classic, and only time will tell about that.
In my view, It is better to support the bp-default and then if there is a demand for bp-classic, you may put some extra effort to support bp-classic, but do not use it as default theme for development while developing for bp 1.2.
And this question is most prominent in the case, where your user interface is tightly tied with the theme, so better Provide users with the complete API/template tags documentation and they can port it to any theme they want.
In reply to: Need AJAX helpThanks Andy for the info.
Yes, live() works as a perfect replacement for livequery().
Any thought about how do we detect when activity is loaded, or anyway we can call our custom javascript functions after activity is loaded using ajax.
In reply to: Edit “Your Profile” on your “Profile” PageIt is already there.
But you may not edit the Fields which are stored by wordpress(If your User had registered before activating buddypress). Only Buddypress xprofile fields can be edited from profile page.
Under profile link, you will see edit profile which will allow you to change the basic details(xprofile fields).
Under settings->general you can change email/password.
In reply to: BuddyPress Links 0.2.1 releasedwow! that looks cool Mr Maz
keep up the good work
In reply to: Need AJAX helphi Erwin
It seems bp-default theme is no more using livequery.
If you are trying to load something after activity has loaded(using ajax), then I have also the same problem.
I had opened this ticket and waiting for an official response from Andy or JJJ
In reply to: Who’s online bugyou are most welcome
In reply to: Child Theme : Adding jquery plugin to my child themewell, for jquery plugin, use wp_enqueue_script in the child theme’s functions.php
for your other problem, use this code
<?php include_once(get_stylesheet_directory().'/somefile.php');?>This should solve the problem.
The TEMPLATEPATH will point to parent theme not to the child theme.
In reply to: Who’s online bugok, my best advice in that case, please use firebug(with firefox) to check the dom element and see how you can apply float left to the div containing the avatars. It is “item-avatar”, In that way you can do it better.
In reply to: Who’s online bugThis should go to your bp-default/_inc/css/screen.css
In reply to: Who’s online bugThis line is missing from your screen.css
.widget_bp_core_widget_whos_online .item-avatar {
float: left;
margin-right: 10px;
}The avatars are not floated left, which should be as per the default theme, if you want that layout.
There may be other css omissions too, so I will advise take a look at the css file.
In reply to: Who’s online bugYour blog is not accessible using the credentials, so no one will be able to check it until you provide a test account here or make the site public for few minutes.
That’s the problem.
