In reply to: bp_chat plugin by Dynamic Endeavors
I have it on my site and seems to work great. It does exactly what i need it to do.
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/welcome-pack/ is the URL for the welcome pack. It does show that it’s been updated for 1.2
In reply to: Describe “what you get,†please!the only reason that bp should break your WPMU installation if you turn it off would be if you left the bp theme set as your blog’s theme. So long as you remember to change your theme back to wp-default or another wp theme, you should be fine.
you will have one MAIN blog that will be bpenabled. you can set multiblog=true to enable bp on all of you blogs. This means that if you go to domain.com/members/username, and then go to a sub blog like test.domain.com, you can go to test.domain.com/members/username and you would get the same screen. If you do this, all blogs need to have bp enabled themes to work or elss links will break. Otherwise, your nav bar on top of your screen will always link to your bp root blog.
Hope this helps.
In reply to: request for subdomains supportIf you want to have a regular theme on domain.com and bp theme on bp.domain.com, if you have multiblog=true, when you go to domain.com/members, you’ll break. You’d have to have a bp enabled theme on all subdomains. That’s what kills that option for him.
In reply to: Front End Blog PostingI was using Posthaste on my 1.1.3 install and had it working perfectly for my groupblogs. I took my buddypress theme and removed home.php and used that for the group blog theme and I did what was in this link to remove it from automatically adding itself to the loop and instead I just placed the code to place the form at the top of my theme right inside the content container and it worked perfectly. You were able to post articles to that blog from the top of the page and using viper’s video quicktags, you could embed videos in there as well. Here’s the link that gave me the code to manually place the posthaste form instead of having it auto placed.
In reply to: buddypress + p2 themeHere are the instructions for using Posthaste if you want to go that route.
If you comment out the action that places the form near the end of posthaste.php:
add_action(‘loop_start’, posthasteForm);
You can manually place the form in your theme where you want it to appear using this code:
if(function_exists(posthasteForm)) { posthasteForm(); } ?>
in my theme, I placed it right after the div id=content in my theme and it showed up at the top of the blog before any content.
In reply to: buddypress + p2 themePeter,
in the FAQ of posthaste, you can disable the automatic placement in the loop and manually put the code to place it in your theme. That worked great for me. I put the code just inside the content container on my blog template for my sub blogs and it worked beautifully. When I get to work, I’ll send you the code I used if you’re interested.
In reply to: Facebook-Like-Chat Plugin for Buddypress?Mike
buddypress Ajax chat is his plugin and with adding the plugin-template.php to the default theme, it looks great on my site.
In reply to: Facebook-Like-Chat Plugin for Buddypress?THANK YOU @PCWRITER!
I copied that file over and it works great on my site now.
In reply to: Facebook-Like-Chat Plugin for Buddypress?I have the same plugin. What changes did you need to make and move the template? I checked my install and I don’t see what files need to be copied for it to work. What do you mean by this statement? “There’s no plugin-template in BP1.2. So simply copy-paste the one from BP1.1.3, add in the content & padder divs, add in the call for the sidebar and upload that file to your theme. It works beautifully.” Can you pm me how you set it up so I can get this running again on my site?
Thanks for the help!
In reply to: Group BlogI tried doing the same thing. I used the plugin called posthaste but it didn’t have the add media features. That’s exactly what I’m trying to accomplish with groupblog. I want the ability to interact a little more with the group functionality than just forums and the streams.
Here’s a plugin that sounds like what you’re wanting.
In reply to: Help with BuddyPress Friends LoopThat’s a really great plugin Sarah and I really enjoy your posts and find them very informative. Keep up the good work!
In reply to: bbimg My attempt at photos…I’ve been talking with Brajesh and he’s already planning on working with third party hosting if you know what CDN you plan on working with. He’s already integrating flickr/youtube functionality so that it conserves space as I confirmed last night so that’s one less thing. Don’t know if that helps you or not but at least we’re not duplicating efforts about saving space on the host site.
In reply to: Options for registration for blogsIs anyone else using gigya plugin or facebook connect and running buddypress on a separate blog than their root blog? I’d really like to know how you’re syncing your users.
In reply to: BP 1.2 / bpPicture Album PluginSelf edited for advertising. Sorry djpaul.
Personally i’ve used and worked with picture album from manoj and I thought that was a very great plugin back in 1.0. With 1.2 coming shortly, I’m finding that bp-gallery will allow my site to do much more that I need for my site. My site is a media/magazine site which will rely heavily on video/audio/photos and galleries and albums will be a core component. I’m a participant in the bp-gallery beta and so far, it supports audio/video/photos and now the issues are really just tweaking and helping with usability. I know that buddydev is an active participant in the buddypress-dev chats and I’m not sure how much development Manoj is doing these days.
In reply to: Importing WP eXtended RSS XML file from WP to BPI found that there were a few spots that I needed to change mem limit to import but ok. I used this tutorial to import my install. you have to remember that you’re not importing into Buddypress, you’re importing into wordpress or wordpress MU. Buddypress is just a plugin, not a platform. It ADDS the social features to your wordpress installation.

In reply to: Importing WP eXtended RSS XML file from WP to BPI think the variable you need is memory_max but I could be wrong. I had same problem on my install. You need to have enough mem for script to finish and after you update that, see if you have ability to restart apache on your site.
In reply to: Creating a Cincopa Gallery Plugin for BuddypressBrajesh is not the same people as wpmudev.org. I refuse to pay 79/month to get a plugin and then have to pay for it again when it needs to be updated. I don’t mind paying 30 for 3 months for a plugin, especially since he has a great adaptable theme in cosmic buddy as well. He’s been working hard and has really taken a lot of our suggestions and added them. I completely agree about the subscription model but I treat it as a $30 expense for a really versatile gallery plugin and the assistance he gives me on my site. It’s like having a wp consultant nearby.
In reply to: American Idol fan site using BuddyPress 1.2What theme is that using?
In reply to: BP Groupblog Error – Call to undefined functionThe plugin itself hasn’t been upgraded for 1.2 yet so anyone’s demo site will be something that they modified the plugin to work and that’s mostly for people that modified it to get it working with 2.9.1 and bp 1.1.3. You’re probably going to have to hold off until it gets upgraded for 1.2 to really see how it works
In reply to: Embed images on Buddypress Forums?That’s not really a buddypress question, more of a bbpress question. If you’re using the one click install group forums, you wouldn’t be able to use any plugins anyway. The only way to use a plugin for this would be to use the external bbpress integration.
In reply to: Options for registration for blogsNo one has any suggestions?
In reply to: BP Groupblog Error – Call to undefined functionBP won’t merge into WP. When people discuss merging something into the core, they’re usually discussing adding x plugin into the bp core, NOT to the wp core.
Any rough ETA when this will be supported on 2.9.1.1/1.2?
In reply to: How to move the Navigation bar to somewhere elseUpgrade to 1.2 because your theme is going to change entirely once it’s released and you may find that you don’t need this solution once you upgrade. It also should be much easier to customize and create your child theme off of.
