In reply to: 1.9 top features – ideas
I like your enthusiasm but it seems you’re getting a bit ahead of yourself. The trac for 1.8 has been on 100 active and outstanding tickets for weeks on end now and there is no discussion of 1.9 anywhere.
But as long as we’re throwing out ideas for the upcoming, I’d like to vote for throttling as discussed here:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/best-way-to-limit-friend-requests-to-avoid-spam
In reply to: restrict users from accessing some featuresIn reply to: Best way to limit friend requests to avoid spam@patricksaad Thank you! Can it also be added for comments? friend requests, activity, etc. we know bbpress has it so everything else other than forum posts (via bbpress) would be helpful to have throttling
In reply to: Best way to limit friend requests to avoid spam@chouf1 I believe patrick’s comment on that ticket is relevant:
“The function bp_core_check_for_flood in bbp-core-moderation.php is not hooked to anything. No flood control on activity page.”
@patricksaad could you pls submit a patch to trac?
In reply to: Best way to limit friend requests to avoid spamyes it is right in the codex: https://codex.bbpress.org/forum-settings/
but I don’t think BP has it
In reply to: Best way to limit friend requests to avoid spamThis is a great idea and frankly I’m surprised that it has not been included already. And not just for friend requests but for pretty much all activity on the site: comments, forum posts, etc.
As long as you limit the frequency to what is ‘human’ you are making spammers’ lives very difficult. The issue is to not make legitimate users upset by setting it too low. But that can be tweaked easily to perfection.
In reply to: BuddyPress and Register Plus Reduxyou could approach the dev himself

In reply to: [Resolved] Remove the word “By” from Member Profilesit would be helpful if you would share it so another person can see the solution in case they want to do the same thing in the future @abray
that’s the whole point of having a support forum!
In reply to: Getting the old View Profile Backsorry can’t help you but I’d like to add my vote

In reply to: How to make buddypress more responsivelots of resources out there, for example: http://www.netmagazine.com/tag/responsive-web-design?ct=tutorial
It would be extremely useful to admins of communities to keep track of basic activity within the community. Things like how many members sign up or join, how many posts, comments, threads are made, how many members are inactive for past n days, how many have filled out profile, etc.
This is functionality equivalent to maintaining a finger on the pulse of the community and tracking important variables to set goals, find out troublesome issues, measure growth, etc.
interesting question, I’ve often wondered this myself
