You could create a custom translation file and rename everything how you like.
I am just wanting to know how to do it properly and as of yet i have not found a simple show how… that is how to edit the .pot and then impliment it..

Before opening in POEDIT, open it in your fav text editor, lines 8 to 16 (assuming word wrap isn’t on) need to be filled in with your own values. Save and close

And i now know that i have to buddypress.pot file.
What is the quickest and easiest editor for this? I have tried poedit but it doesnt like .pot ?? and it doesnt have a find and replace function??
Then once i have edited my buddypress.pot how do i impliment this??
im interested in using translation to change the words groups and group to spots and spot respectively..
so basically use the translation technique to change and customise what things are called on the site..
I too have an issue with avatars for groups… i upload the image and the intial thumbnail one works fine but the main image crop goes all funny and gives a look like this….

I have no wp_bp_xprofile_wire or wp_bp_groups_wire in my database….
if i ad these in manually will it fix this…
or do i have to put a code in properly as in to generate teh table…

I have had a major spam attack on my new instalation… over 100 new blog and user subsriptions that are definately spam… how can i over come this…
they are signing up and then confirming the email…
shall i put a human idendifyer on??

@burtadsit i re installed it all again and it came alive its so cruciall to get it all right and as i have a slow conection here in kenya its a bit slow to get things updated..

i am also really keen on adapting and adding fields to the groups component.
I am just trying to learn and get my head around all the code. Sadly i cant quite find where to add the fields in the different pages.. i get to the create.php with this code..

But then i cant find where to go to next. IE i cant find the page that has the fields on it to add in my own custom fields..

My project is called spots kenya and i want to use the groups option as a kinda creat your own spot rather than group..
i basically need to have a few more fields that would integrate a google maps api location tag and possibly a few more custom fields.

well as i said the strange and odd thing is on the same server i have it working at bp.spotskenya.com and NOT WORKING at spotskenya.com
so the same shared host with lunarpages has one working and one not sure this is a code error.. please take a look at the sites..
my cropping doesnt work.. fresh install with latest version…

@oceandoctor i too have the same problem.. its verry strange as i have it running on bp.spotskenya.com and just did a fresh install with new DB on spotskenya.com alls well apart from the avatar crop and resize.. i can click through but all i get is a black box..
it seems that this may be an issue with the version we have downloaded as it was working on an instalation about a week ago and now its not.

so basically when you register at bp.spotskenya.com/ you go through the sign up well and uit does it nicely but its creating a blog not a user… i am guessing this is due to the fact that i am useing sub directories no subdomains as my server doesnt alow me acces to wildcards.
plase can som one help its for a major uni project..
