Did anyone find a solution to this?
I am using firebase single sign on and all of my usernames are set to some random string like “12noainoneionfe”
So the @username mention looks terrible….
I need to find a way to update the @username mention to use some other user meta field ideally.
Need some help please!

1) Is there a way I can create a backup/mirror image of my site before installing updates? And rollback to that state if anything goes bonkers during installation of…[Read more]

There would ideally be 2 checks built into the function:
1) Has admin of community disabled this feature – not all communities may want or need it.
2) Has…[Read more]

These forums don’t notify people of follow up comments — so, no surprise that Boone didn’t pick up on a further question several months later.
You can try the @username approach in your comment to notify them
The question mark hyperlink after a @username has no action. Nothing happens on roll over.

On my site I have users sign up with a username and a first name. In the community feeds only their first name is shown, as a link to their profile page. I’d like it to display like this:

@r-a-y If a user logs in using FB autoconnect, the username will be firstname.lastname. This is the format of the username that displays in the activity feed.
However, in order to mention the user, the format is firstname-lastname.
Is there any way to make the @username format consistent with the actual username?
I can’t believe that I am the only one of over 1,700 users to have trouble with this but the plug-in didn’t seem to change anything when I activated it. I tried manually updating the files with the code you provided and that didn’t seem to work either.
