    I’ve updated the code, there was an error causing the main Activity page to go missing. fixed now.

    When you say nothing happens, you mean clicking does nothing? or does the page refresh to the register page as if it’s thought you missed some information?

    This is straying off topic, could you open a thread on the plugins wordpress support forum please? I’m sure you’ll get a way better service there.

    It sounds like something is messing with the user database lookups, have you tried deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress and trying?

    There’s not unfortunately, not out of the box anyway and I’m not aware of any that offer this. The natural home is the Invite Anyone plugin, have you asked the developers if they could add it as a feature? I makes sense for that plugin to keep track of the invitee email addresses and check them on registration.

    Cool, I’ll have to give it a spin.

    Yep this happens with free plugins. Sometimes authors take time out and sometimes that turns permanent. I’ve been going through the older, majorly broken ones and forking them in order to get them back online for folks. But there’s a limit to what I can do. Right now I’ve got about four thaT I’m working on. I can add this to the list of potential resurrections but tbh it’s got a low priority in that it’s basically working as designed. In other words the main function still works and there’s not an opportunity for a quick fix. This one I reckon would need a redesign and that’s potentially a lot of effort.

    You could always do what I did – get stuck into this coding mallarky and start writing your own plugins.

    I’ve just tested this a bit more thoroughly. I set up two private groups and I had browsers open on each of their activity pages. I added a new activity to one group, the browser looking at that groups activity feed had a “load Newest” popup and it loaded that groups activity. The browser looking at the other group did nothing, so yep I can’t replicate your issue.

    What’s the issue? Is there content missing or wrong?

    I guess the first thing to check is that you have a page configured to be the activation page. If you look in Settings>>BuddyPress>>Pages you can check there. You won’t be able to access the activation page while logged in, so log out and see if you can access the activate page manually, without the activation key. does that work?

    One last thing to try, it probably won’t work, but when I tested it I put the autocomplete definition in the child-themes functions.php as opposed to the bp-custom, you could try that?

    Nouveau autocomplete is different to legacy autocomplete in that it does not filter for friends only. This seems to confirm that BP is simply not seeing your autocomplete setting as you suspect.

    Have you tried re-saving your permalink settings?

    I’ve not been able to replicate your issue – all group activity is retained within the group of origination. Have you tried deactivating your other plugins to see if it’s caused by a conflict? But the way, clicking the loading new posts indicator should not do anything, it’s for information only and there’s no actions hooked against it. Which BP Theme are you using, Legacy or Nouveau?

    Another thing to try would be the BP Nouveau theme, this works differently for getting the autofil for user names and if it works could give some clues.

    If you right click on the screen, then select Inspect, then find the console this will show you any Javascript errors. You can sit with this open while you type the name and see if anything gets reported.

    for the PHP error log you need to add the following to your wp-config.php:

    define('WP_DEBUG', true);
    define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true);
    define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', true);
    @ini_set('display_errors', 0);

    You can then load a plugin such as BES Error Log Viewer to view any errors recorded in this file.

    Another useful plugin is Query Monitor, which gives you dynamic reports of errors on your system.

    I’m not sure which post you are reading, I’ve confirmed BP uses the WordPress login.

    Are you getting any errors in the JS Console or WP-DEBUG?

    I just tested it again and I can confirm that it works, I tested with both Subscribers and Contributors, both got the automatic name suggestions for all site members.

    Ah sorry, that’s not the problem I thought you were reporting. Have you tried deactivating all other plugins and testing? It sounds like something is interfering with the JavaScript that adds the activity update. Also check the JS Console for errors (right click on the page, inspect and then select console to see any js errors reported).

    Which BP Theme are you using ( Settings>>BuddyPress>>Options ) then I can be more accurate in my testing.

    It’s a template file so any PHP that you add needs to have <?php and ?> tags surrounding it, dod you do that?

    I think the fact that the file was rejected by WPT indicates an issue with your edited file. Possibly, I’ve not done this for a while things might have changed. I’ll take a spin through it tomorrow and get back to you.

    I’d give WPT Custom Mo File a try, sorry to sound like I’m pushing it, but it could be a quick way around the problem.

    There’s also another method if I remember correctly, with that way you load your pot file directly into poedit with editing it in the text editor. that creates the Po file and you then export it as the Mo file. I’d not noticed that page has changed, I’ve not tried it the way it’s described.

    So if it’s just a catalogue content creation type thing you should be able to do it with the right combination of plugins and a bit of customisation. You’d need to find a suitable solution for the product catalogue but it’s just a custom post type with specific templating. There’s a few ways of doing it, if you don’t need the eccommerce there’s no need for the bloat of it.

    Then you just need to sort out the user messaging, I’ve a plugin, BP Profile Shortcodes Extra, it’s got a private message shortcode, any vendor could use that to let their customers know how to contact them.

    I’ve another plugin, BP Messaging Control, it allows you to set rules on who can message who. Not sure if you want to control that but it could help stop sellers spamming users.

    There’s also stuff you can do to customise the messaging interface itself – you can insert content pretty easily and there’s a range of options for customising the use profile area, which is where BP Messaging lives.

    The combined activity feed should give an activity feed similar to Facebook without the filtering algorithm. I’m thinking of putting it into a plugin for easier deployment.
