    Hi there,

    How about if you switch back to the default register.php? what happens then?

    Yes that’s do-able, it involes over-riding one of the BuddyPress template files.

    First you need to know which BP Template you are using by looking in Settings/BuddyPress/Options and check the template setting, it will either be Legacy or Nouveau.

    You also need to have a child theme do you have one set up?

    Depending on the BP theme, you would create a directory in wp-content/themes/child-theme/buddypress/members

    Then you would copy wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy or bp-nouveau/buddypress/members/members-loop.php over to this directory.

    From there you can edit the members-loop.php file and replace the unwanted items with items you could like.

    That’s the general idea.

    One option to hide the change link would be via CSS, I hid it on my test system with the following CSS:

    .field_nickname-display-name .visibility-toggle-link {
    	display: none;
    }

    I think you’ve identified a bug with the registration form, it misleadingly gives the impression that the visibility for the Name field can be changed. Wuld you mind raising a bug report on https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ ? Also you can use the same link to raise your feature request.

    On a default install there is no option to change the visibility of the Name field, it is always visible to all. Other profile fields can have this setting changed and it works. I suggest you try switching to a default theme such as 2015 and see if you still have the issue.

    Hi there, BuddyPress does not come with forums, for that you’d need a plugin such as bbPress.

    @venutius

    Possibly the issue is that it’s trying to call that function to early in the wordpress load process.

    I don’t think that’s a feature of BuddyPress itself, you’ll need to refer to the creators of that plugin.

    I’m afraid not

    On my test system, posting that into activity does not result in an embedded video, just a link to the video. BuddyPress does not handle video and in order to have it embed then something else is running in order to do that. It could be WordPress itself as it has embed functionality but looking at the CSS of the embedded video on your site it does not look like WordPress, it looks like there’s a plugin doing it.

    Could you give me an example url?

    Looks like you are using a plugin to add that video to the activity feed, you should ask the developer of that.

    Do you have FTP access? you could simply delete the BuddyPress directory in plugins.

    One aspect I forgot was if the user is not logged in, ths would fix that:

    const notificationsCounter = document.getElementById('ab-pending-notifications');
    const notificationsIndicator = document.getElementById('wp-admin-bar-bp-notifications');

    function counterChange() {
    	if (notificationsCounter.innerText == '0') {
    		notificationsIndicator.style.display = 'none';
    	} else {
    		notificationsIndicator.style.display = 'block';
    	}
    }

    if (notificationCounter){
        notificationsCounter.addEventListener('change', counterChange);
    }
    counterChange();

    This is not PHP, it’s Javascript, I assumed you’d put it in your footer between some script tags since that’s what you were doing with the jquery.

    Hi there,

    I’m not sure where you are getting your classes from, I wrote this which works on my system:

    const notificationsCounter = document.getElementById('ab-pending-notifications');
    const notificationsIndicator = document.getElementById('wp-admin-bar-bp-notifications');

    function counterChange() {
    	if (notificationsCounter.innerText == '0') {
    		notificationsIndicator.style.display = 'none';
    	} else {
    		notificationsIndicator.style.display = 'block';
    	}
    }

    notificationsCounter.addEventListener('change', counterChange);
    counterChange();

    There’s plugins that allow you to get dynamic notification updates, so just in case you ever want to add that feature in future I made it so that it can dynamically change.

    Are you still logged in when trying to access it? if so it’ll do that.

    Then you must have a conflict somewhere. Have you tried running with just BuddyPress Active and with a default theme such as 2016?

    @venutius

    I’ve just suggest it, above. To make the default group status private as you asked, you can add that to your bp-custom.php and it should do the trick for you.

    Hi there,

    On the members profile page do you see a link in the menu to upload a profile picture? it should be “Change Profile Photo”, it should also be an option in the Profile section of the BuddyBar.

    Hi there,

    You say you have all the pages made and linked in BP but you are not seeing the register page. What error do you get when you try to access it?

    @venutius

    Moderator

    I don’t think overloading that file is the way to go for the default status change, you can set the default new group status using the bp_get_new_group_status filter, so you could do something like this:

    add_filter( 'bp_get_new_group_status', 'venutius_new_group_status_change' );

    function venutius_new_group_status_change( $status ) {
        return 'private';
    }

    Check out plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/legacy/members/profile/profile-loop.php this is how BP displays the profile group information, you should be able to use this as a basis for what you want to do.

    I’d try switching to BP Nouveau, then a default theme and then deactivating the other plugins to see if that changes it.
