In reply to: buddypress performanace and cache
I’m not sure about wp Fastest Cache but I do use W3 for it’s object cache, that works but does not give that much of a performance benefit
In reply to: Hackers Getting In….Have you installed BP Registration Options and set it to moderate? If you’ve done that no-one should get in without you approving them.
In reply to: buddypress performanace and cacheI don’t think there’s any real solution for caching of BP pages. W3 has a bug that means users can’t change passwords when it’s running. I’ve heard good reports about Rocket Cache though.
The main issue is that the cache needs to be very clever with BP pages- not caching the whole page but instead only the static elements of the page. Don’t think anyones done anything on that.
In reply to: Redirect to Buddypress profile PageNot sure if I can help, it sounds like ProfilePress is handling the redirect from login, your best bet is to ask them about it first.
However the users activity page is also typically the default landing page for the profile. If it’s infact the default landing page there’s a possibility that you could add code to make the default page the profile.
But I’d suggest speaking to ProfilePress first as that would be the easiest option.
In reply to: PHP fatal error in debug.logIn that position, I’d download the plugins directory and do a search through the contents using something like Notepad++ Search in Files
In reply to: PHP fatal error in debug.logBy the sounds of it you have two plugins trying to declare the same function name. Deactivate all of your plugins apart from BuddyPress, if the error remains try switching themes to 2016, if that fails then it’s custom code you’d added via function.php, bp-custom.php etc.
In reply to: Mapping the xprofile fieldsThis plugin looks like it could be very handy for your quest:
In reply to: Mapping the xprofile fieldsHi giannisff,
I think that would require some custom coding. I’ve not seen anything like this, of course I may have missed something.
However I did something similar using WP Google Maps and location based post meta. The main issue you would need to resolve would be to create the custom code that would take the xProfile locations and translate them to lat and long for the WP Google Maps markers. Pretty sure it’s doable but it would need a plugin built to do it.
There used to be a plugin that would take a location of town, country and transfer it to a map that was displayed on the users profile. It does not work anymore though and does not do what you want but it might be worth a look for pointers, I’ll see if I can find it.
In reply to: An addon for adding comments to articles? If an article is a type of post, surely the WP comment system is the place to start for this?
Even with Facebook groups not everyone will be notified, it depends on their settings, and the notification is often delayed by a could of days unfortunately. FB groups are a bit hit and miss.
I don’t actually think it would be that hard to implement that feature in BP though, the hooks are all their and the WP email creation is simple enough. How’s your coding?
I’m not sure anything’s been done with it due to potential issues with spamming users. To work around this my suggestion would be to install one of the BuddyPress Mass Messaging plugins and email all with a link to the activity post. It’s a bit clumsy I know.
You’d probably need to ask gravity forms if they support the BuddyPress Extended Profile.
In reply to: Cover image upload does not show after uploadingSomethings blocking it, did you try deactivating other plugins?
In reply to: Cover image upload does not show after uploadingI’d try it on a default theme first.
In reply to: Group > Create > Upload Group AvatarDid you try deactivating the other plugins and switching to a WP theme such as 2016?
In reply to: Group > Create > Upload Group AvatarOne place to look is in your browsers Javascript console and see if it’s reporting any errors.
In reply to: Can’t post updatesHow does the problem show – any error messages?
In reply to: members pageOne option would be to take a look at BP Profile Search with this you should be able to specify which fields get searched.
In reply to: My Topic has disappeared ? Why ?That’s a bit strange, It might have got eaten by the system.
Your bpcustom.php I think needs to go in the in /My_WebSite/wp-content/plugins directory. Otherwise it will get overwritten when BP get’s updated. I’ve not played with MU myself.
In reply to: buddypress install errorThis error occurs when an empty directory is left in
plugins/buddypressso you need to go and delete that directory. In reply to: Is there a shortcode to link to a users member page?BP Profile Shortcodes Extra will allow you to create links to the members profile page or any page in that area.
In reply to: Fatal Errors while trying to editing settings. It looks like your theme needs updating, it’s calling a function that no longer exists –
bp_is_user_forums()the line
esc_html__( ‘%1$s started the topic %2$s in the forum %3$s’, ‘bbpress’ )presents the phrse “started the topic in the forum” to WP translation as part of the bbpress translation component. This means that you can create you own translation (alternative text) for the bbpress string using poedit and maybe WPT Custom MO File in order to get your system to use your translation for your site.See https://codex.buddypress.org/translations/ and https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/customizing/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/ obviously these pages are for BuddyPress, not bbPress but it’s the same principle.
Couldn’t you just change that via translation?
In reply to: notification when a user publish a new contentCould you do this using BP Follow?
If it does not give notifications for new posts you can add a quick function for that.
