In reply to: Request Membership Not working on Private page
Unable to reproduce this, did you deactivate the other plugins and try a default theme?
In reply to: Featured Plugin SuggestionI tested it a couple of weeks ago and it worked fine, give it a try, it’s a pretty simple plugin.
In reply to: Featured Plugin Suggestionthis might be closer to what you are looking for: https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-verified/
In reply to: User tips – teaching your usersI don’t think there’s a plugin for this, you’d really have to write something dedicated to your site, maybe a widget which detects the pages and offers context specific help.
How did you get on? Did it do the same?
I’d be looking to isolate the various components that you are using to try to work out what is causin this. As it stands BP does not duplicate the subject line for it’s emails so it looks like it’s to do with something else.
In reply to: password resetI’m not able to recreate your issue, I suggest you try deactivating all other plugins and run with the 2017 theme to see if that changes the behaviour.
In reply to: Registration Form Errors Not ShowingNot sure what could be causing that. IF you run it with only BuddyPress running and with the 2017 theme, does it still do that?
In reply to: Not Getting The Userlist For MentionsWhich mentions dropdown are you talking about? As far as I’m aware the members page drop down only has three options: Last Active, Alphabetical and Newest Registered.
By the looks of things you have changed the size of the avatars. and since you have not updated that avatars themselves they are showing pixelated – trying to display a 200px image as a 580px image.
For bug reports there is https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ by default BP does not use the email address to create the username. If your site is doing that then something is changing the default behaviour of BuddyPress.
In reply to: general doubts and questionsBP essentally uses the same login as WordPress, there’s a lot of ways of customising it though, depending on your knowledge. There’s various custom login plugins, including Theme My Login, which allows you to change a lot of the login functionality.
BuddyPress provides the following
Extended User Profiles
Groups
Messaging
Friends
ActivityForums can be added to groups if you install bbPress.
For standalone forums you only need bbPress
In reply to: general doubts and questionsIf you just want a forum, you should be looking at bbPress. BuddyPress does not come with a forum, it uses bbPress to add forums to groups but adding BP on it’s own won’t give you forums.
What you could do is use something like https://wordpress.org/plugins/all-404-redirect-to-homepage/ and configure that to redirect ll 404’s to the login page.
In reply to: 401 Unauthorized During Login AttemptsIt’s safe to deactivate BuddyPress, you will lose the BP features but they will come back after you reactivate the plugin, so you can do it quickly to test then reactivate it.
In reply to: display profile navigarion in member directoryActually, that does not work, I must have it wrong. The easiest way is to go to your menu edit page, and select profile in the BuddyPress options, these may be hidden so you will need to go to screen options and select BuddyPress
In reply to: display profile navigarion in member directoryAh so you want to add a link to the users profile in your menu?
I think you can add a link
yoursite.com/profile/mewhich would link to the logged in users profile. In reply to: Only email registrationhttps://github.com/sbrajesh/buddypress-remove-xprofile-fullname-field
This plugin does something similar, you might like to check it out
Mind, I’ve just looked on my server and I can see in the signup db that the activation key for the user is held there. So you could overload the activate template page and add a check to see if that key has been used.
That’s not a feature that is supported right now. The issue is that bp does not store the activation code for the user, so it can’t look up the activation code and know it’s the right one but has already been activated for that user. I think you would need to raise a feature request on Trac for that.
In reply to: Activity Pages RedirectingSounds like either your permalinks are not setup correctly or you have custom rewrite rules that are impacting the bp pages.
In reply to: creating custom layoutWith bp you can overload the user profile pages and replace their code with your own. The templates are located in the
plugins/buddypress/bp-templatesdirectory, either bp-legacy or bp-nouveau depending on your config. in that directory you would look inbuddypress/members/singleand you will see the various profile templates. You overload these by creating alternative files inthemes/my-child-theme/buddypress/members/signle/ etc..In reply to: Sort messages from Extended Profiles filedsThere’s not a plugin, you’d need to write your own I reckon.
In reply to: Username with @This plugin might help to achieve that.
In reply to: Only email registrationIt’s been done before, try searching the forum for it.
