In reply to: newbie question re plugins
Yep you’d need to install bbPress to get forums.
In reply to: Default Profile PhotoJust tested it, create a bp-custom.php in your plugins directory and add the following:
define ( 'BP_AVATAR_DEFAULT', 'http://example.com/default-avatar.jpg' ); define ( 'BP_AVATAR_DEFAULT_THUMB', 'http://example.com/default-avatar-thumb.jpg' ); add_filter( 'bp_core_fetch_avatar_no_grav', '__return_true' );In reply to: Random User IDIt’s not a built in function, but anything is possible with software. The trick would be generating the random name since it can’t be random – it would need to avoid using names already used.
In reply to: howto clone theme ‘nouveau’?One thing to try, I seem to remember that it might work if you put it in
child-theme/buddypress/buddypress/...worth a try but I’ve not tried it myself.In reply to: Default Profile PhotoTake a look at this track ticket:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/7737#ticket
Could you give that a try?
In reply to: non-member activity in the streamI’m not entirely sure why, but it seems BuddyPress is not using the activity message created by the plugin and is adding it’s own, for this reason I’ve found it impossible to modify the plugin in order to manipulate that message.
In reply to: non-member activity in the streamNot without a bit of coding, the issue is that the BP Activity stream wants to see the user id to display, so that route is not an option, the only way I can see that you can do it would be to add the username into the description of the activity, I think getting there would take quite a bit of effort.
In reply to: non-member activity in the streamThe issue is that in order to display the username in the activity post the user would have to be registered.
I still use Wanguard, it still works for checking the validity of email addresses. I notice recently however that I’m getting a large number of spam registrations from domains ending with .xyz or .top so I ended up forking r-a-y’s plugin BP Restrct Signup by Email Domain, turning it into a blacklist intead of a whitelist. My new plugin is called BP Blacklist Signup by Email Domain, I’ll be uploading it to the repository later. This seems to be working well on my systems so far – not had any spam registrations get through for the last few days whereas without it I was getting about 8-12 per day.
In reply to: Shortcode to create Edit Profile PageCould you share the shortcode format you are using please?
In reply to: set username=email in registrationHere’s what I found:
add_action( 'bp_core_validate_user_signup', 'custom_validate_user_signup' ); function custom_validate_user_signup($result) { unset($result['errors']->errors['user_name']); if(!empty($result['user_email']) && empty($result['errors']->errors['user_email'])) { $result['user_name'] = md5($result['user_email']); $_POST['signup_username'] = $result['user_name']; } return $result; }You would also need to copy
plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-nouveau (or bp-legacy ) /buddypress/members/register.php tothemes/your-child-theme/buddypress/members/register.php and edit it to remove the section that asks for the username:<label for="signup_username"><?php _e( 'Username', 'buddypress' ); ?> <?php _e( '(required)', 'buddypress' ); ?></label> <?php do_action( 'bp_signup_username_errors' ); ?> <input type="text" name="signup_username" id="signup_username" value="<?php bp_signup_username_value(); ?>" />For your conditional signup, try BP Restrict Signup by Email Domain.
In reply to: Group’s page headerCan you try deactivating all other plugins apart form BP? Does that fix it?
In reply to: Group’s page headerTry switching to the bp-legacy theme, does it do the same?
In reply to: Not a spammer but marked as a spammerI’m still running it, but it’s not added that “status” field to the extended profile. Have you tried deleting that profile field?
In reply to: Not a spammer but marked as a spammerWould that be Wanguard? That certainly used to flag users as spammers. Not sure how it could do that if it is no longer running.
In reply to: Not a spammer but marked as a spammerLeave BuddyPress Active, deactivate all other plugins, see that these will not be there, then re-active the plugins one by one till you find the one that is marking the users as spammers.
In reply to: Not a spammer but marked as a spammerBuddyPress does not mark users as spammers, it must be some other plugin that’s doing that
This might not work then, Sweetdate may have overloaded the cover-image-header already, you will probably need to ask them about overloading.
Might be wise to confirm with you which bp theme you have in dashboard>>settings>>buddypress>>options ? are you running Nouveau?
I think as a first try I’d insert it here:
<?php bp_nouveau_member_header_buttons( array( 'container' => 'ul', 'button_element' => 'button', 'container_classes' => array( 'member-header-actions' ), ) ); ?><form> <input type=”button” value=”Book now” onclick=”window.location.href=’#” /> </form> <?php bp_nouveau_member_hook( 'before', 'header_meta' ); ?> <?php if ( bp_nouveau_member_has_meta() ) : ?> <div class="item-meta">Where did you put it? could you include the code that it was inserted into?
What code are you using? put it between ` backticks to have it format properly.
There’s a variety of ways to achieve this, one way is to overload the BP Template profile header template file. It’s located in
plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-noveau(or bp-legacy)/buddypress/members/single/cover-image-header.phpassuming you are using profile cover images.This file constructs the members header, if you copy it to
themes/your-theme/buddypress/members/single/cover-image-header.phpyou can edit it and insert a button in there.
