In reply to: Getting Error When Clicking on Profiles
I think I’d be tempted to raise this as a bug on trac:
you mean members/single/activity.php?
I don’t really understand the question, entry.php is a fie aailable for overloading, it’s a template file that displays the activity loop, and bp_get_activity_content_body is a loop function that can be used within it.
On the other hand, bp-core-template.php is a core file, that should not be edited and it’s not a template file running a loop, why are you looking to edit this? What new function are you trying to add?
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/7792
I’ve raised a ticket for this.
In reply to: Include groups posts in the principal streamsIf I go to a site of mine and visit mysite.com/activity I can see all activity, including the group activity as the default view. is it this page you want to make the landing age after login, or does that page not include the group activity for you?
In reply to: Make Content Viewable To Non Logged In VisitorsYep something is making your BP areas private for sure. BuddyPress for example on it’s own makes yoursite.com/members a public page, to make it private, like your’s is, you’d need to add a plugin – bp does not even have a setting for it.
In reply to: Make Content Viewable To Non Logged In VisitorsThat’s not actually the way BP works out of the box, normally you would need to add a plugin to make the site private. are you sure you’ve not got one installed?
In reply to: Age Field two fieldsDo you have a screenshot? Are you talking about the user profile page?
That’s why I’d have a look in your plugin, find out what bp function it’s using to add the new user then see if there’s a hook off that.
In reply to: No email notificationsWhich notifications?
it’s that pluggins author you will need to ask
In reply to: WordPress Broken During BP ActivateHi there,
If you have FTP access to your site I would go to the wp-content/plugins directory and rename the buddypress directory to buddypress-old.
See if that get’s your site back up.
Loop functions are a pretty basic feature of WordPress, in WP 101 terms it’s basically lesson 2 – how the posts page displays a list of all posts. It does this by having a loop – using a function to pull in all posts (or in bp members or groups) then using a while loop to iterate through all those posts, members groups etc, depending on the context.
So a bp Loop looks something like this:
If has_members: While has_members: print out the info you want End while Else // there were no membersThe buddyPress toolbar is also the WordPress Toolbar. There is no function in BuddyPress to hide the toolbar completely, however there are a number of general wordpress plugins that will completely hide the toolbar.
I remember squirrelling around one site to find what had caused this and it turned out to be a front end publishing plugin that had a default setting to hide the toolbar.
So my first question is this – are you sure it’s BuddyPress causing this? have you deactivated all other plugins and still get the problem with BP loaded?
There are two template files that are pertinient –
plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/register.php and activate.phpInside these pages there are
do_actionfunctions that allow you to hook an action on that particular stage of the registration page. For example inactivate.phpthere isbp_after_activation_pageyou could hook on that and check the user has successfully activated their account and gather your data. That’s because these are loop functions, designed to provide data from the current profile in the loop.
Which profile group are you looking to get the data for, and which field?
In reply to: Dropdown category when hover Add Friend buttonI think you should submit this as a feature request in BuddyPress Trac
I would also like to see this as a feature. I think that it should integrate with messaging, you you can add a bunch of friends into a category and choose to message that category for example. I’d also like to see activity shares to these categories.
What plugin did you use to add the option to only display a menu item to logged in users? Seems like that is what is not functioning. hiding the activity link by hiding the menu item does not hide the activity page from non logged in users, if they know the url they will still be able to view it, to prevent that you should explore the security options available to you. There a number of privacy plugins for bp with a range of features, is it only the Activity page you want to hide?
BuddyPress uses the default WordPress login page, there’s a number of customisers for this, for example: https://wordpress.org/plugins/admin-custom-login/
In reply to: Create custom situations for emailsno, from my reading of the document the ‘post_received_comment’ is a custom term that’s has been applied to the email that was created. So it could have been called anything.
In reply to: duplicate group pageIf I were looking to do this, I’d think about using BP Group Types as a way of selecting which groups to display, then create templates that check for groups with specific types to display in the loop.
In reply to: Create custom situations for emailsDo you mean the action that triggers the email, they are in the WordPress Action reference I think:
In reply to: Hiding nav item not working as expectedThere’s another option, when adding a nav item using
bp_core_new_nav_item()there is this setting:* @type bool $show_for_displayed_user Optional. Whether the nav item should be visible when viewing a * member profile other than your own. Default: true.So if you remove then re-register the frends nav, you can specify if it should only be displayed when the user is viewing their own profile.
In reply to: Hiding nav item not working as expectedI see, sounds like this is going to be difficult to do using this method, since both items use the same nav.
In reply to: Hiding nav item not working as expectedI think what you’d need to do would be to add a check to see if the user was viewing their own profile or not, then choose to execute the code or not.
so something like:
global $bp; if ($bp->loggedin_user->id; != $bp->displayed_user->id; ) { //execute code; }I’m making a big assumption here, that ID is the users ID, it may not be. another way would be this:
$user_id = bp_core_get_userid( $username = $r->name ); $wpdb->get_col("SELECT value FROM {$wpdb->prefix}bp_xprofile_data WHERE field_id = 7 AND user_id = $user_id);I’m not sure if putting the function call inside the Querystring would work, but you could give it a try.
