    That’s wierd, I did post a reply, now it’s gone.

    Here it is again:

    function venutius_change_profile_settings_edit_tab() {

    	if( bp_is_active( 'xprofile' ) ) :

    	$access        = bp_core_can_edit_settings();
    	$slug          = bp_get_settings_slug();

    	$args = array(
    		'parent_slug'     => $slug,
    		'subnav_slug'	  => $slug . '/notifications/',
    		'screen_function' => 'bp_settings_screen_notification',
    		'user_has_access' => $access
    		);

    	bp_core_new_nav_default( $args );

    	bp_core_remove_subnav_item( 'settings', 'general' );

    	endif;

    }
    add_action( 'bp_actions', 'venutius_change_profile_settings_edit_tab' );

    Have you tried using BP Activity Shortcode? It’s a simple way of producing activity pages customised how you would like.

    BuddyPress Activity Shortcode

    This is a bit of a wordpress issue in general, not just BuddyPress, for example much of the user info is actually from the WP user db, it’s also to do with the applications that you choose to use on WP. I believe the plan is for WordPress to build into core a Privacy Policy management system whereby plugins will be able to register their privacy/compliance options and the system admin will be able to use those to put together privacy policies using the mechanisms made available within this framework. Plugins can of course choose to implement their own solutons to GDPR.

    The discussion regarding BP’s response to GDPR is here:

    https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/7698 looks like the BP solution to this will be in 3.x.

    You could ask for this as a feature request on Trac

    There is a premium plugin I know of that does this – BuddyPress Profile Visibility Manager by BuddyDev.

    I don’t think you need the edit link shortcode anymore. Since I added the profile_page setting to profile_avatar_link, profile_cover_image_link and profile_url you can use either of these with the profile_page setting to create the exact link you want, in the right format.

    We had some strangeness the other week with the forums in that it was blocking certain keywords, maybe it’s that?

    Update – the following works:

    function venutius_hide_tab() {
    	if ( !is_super_admin() ) {
    		bp_core_remove_subnav_item( 'settings', 'general' );
    	}
    }
    add_action( 'bp_setup_nav', 'venutius_hide_tab', 15 );

    However it causes a page not found error when you click on Settings, this is due to the removed nav item being the default tab for the settings link. I’m currently trying to find the right code to reset this default.

    Not blocked as far as I’m aware, maybe you were trying to share a link that was not allowed?

    I’ve added a feature to the profile_avatar_link shortcode where you can specify the profile like to use as follows:

    [bpps_profile_avatar_link profile_page=”profile/edit”]

    This will display the members avatar as a link to the edit profile page. You can also specify height and r width of the aatar to be displayed.

    Make sure you download the latest version for this.

    OK let me give it a test and get back to you

    @venutius

    it excludes admin users from the removal, so you will need to login as a standard user

    @venutius

    So you could add something like the following to your functions or bp-custom.php:

    function venutius_hide_tab() {
    	if ( !is_super_admin() && !bp_is_my_profile() ) {
    		bp_core_remove_subnav_item( 'settings', 'general' );
    	}
    }
    add_action( 'bp_setup_nav', 'venutius_hide_tab', 15 );

    Hi Glenn, how did you set up the redirect to the dashboard in the firstplace? you’d probably need to modify that code to redirect to the activity page.

    @venutius

    Sounds like you need to remove the nav item that corresponds to that link.

    There’s two menu items that possibly need to be removed. the most common one could be removed with the bp_core_remove_subnav_item( 'settings', 'general' ); function.

    Do you also use the WordPress/BuddyPress adminbar?

    I have a plugin – BP Profile Shortcodes Extra, it includes a shortcode that allows you to create a link to edit the users profile – [bpps_profile_edit_url text=”Edit Profile”] it can also create links to the users other profile pages and has many other functions.

    Glad you got it working

    @venutius

    Yep BP does not come with those features, they must be provided by your theme. You’ll need to ask them for support since we’ll not be able to replicate your setup.

    @venutius

    In that case I don’t think that page is part of your BuddyPress install, I’m thinking it must have come with your theme, unless you renamed an existing bp page to that. there’s quite a few ways of getting the members page in masonry view, but unless you set it up specifically then it’s not part of the standard bp install I don’t think.

    @venutius

    Members Masonry Page? Are you running BP-Nouveau or is that something supplied by your theme?

    @venutius

    Both db abd php versions are quite old but not outsde of those supported I think, not exactly sure about db version, I’m on 5.6.

    @venutius

    Moderator

    Yep that’s what I’d do and if that didn’t fix it I’d be thinking bout php versions and the likes, though I’v run BP down to php 5.2 with no issues.

    Either something went badly wrong with your install, wich is unlikelu or there’s something running on your site that is seriously messing with BuddyPress. Now you know how to recover from this, you could disable all other plugins, switch to the 2017 theme and then re-enable BuddyPress, to see if it works on it’s own.

    https://buddypress.org/support/topic/redirect-to-user-profile-after-login/ should allow you redirect user after login to that page.

    @venutius

    Excellent, you found a feature that was missing! I’ve updated the plugin, with the new plugin you can add text=”name” and it will show the users displayname as a link to their profile:

    [bpps_profile_url user_id=”1″ text=”name”]

    Hope that helps

    I think the issue is that the page title is already going to be set by the time you know the activity content in question, so there’s not a neat solution to this, you either do it in js or you do some kind of string replace in php. I’ve seen solutons like the following:

        include("header.php");
        $title = "TITLE";

        $output = str_replace('%TITLE%', $title, $output);
        echo $output;

    Not entirely sure that would work though.
