In reply to: A custom feature I wish I found how to do
That’s great, thinking about it this should go in your bp-custom.php, then you won’t need to remember to transfer it if you ever change your theme. Or as a rather nifty way of managing code snippets you could use:
In reply to: cropping featureI don’t think there is an option for that, certainly not without quite a bit of coding.
In reply to: Default Groups assigned to new Registrants?Yes it’s pretty well written. There’s a lot of useful BP plugins that still work even though they’ve not been updated in a while.
In reply to: Restrict messaging only to authorsI’ve had a look at the code, there’s three area’s that need to be changed the only issue is how to get the user roles in the context of the functions that they are sitting in, I might look at this tomorrow if I have time, I’m not expert though, it just seems like a useful exercise for someone of my skill.
But you need to map out your requirements in more detail. For example what other roles would your subscribers be able to message? admin of course? any others?
In reply to: Default Groups assigned to new Registrants? There’s a plugin for that – BP Auto Group Join:
In reply to: Restrict messaging only to authorsI’m not aware of a plugin that will do that. There is one that does something similar, in that it restricts who can send messages to others. That’s BP Friends Only:
https://github.com/r-a-y/bp-pms-for-friends
Pretty sure that would serve as a sound basis for what you need to do, If you are able to fork it and carry out the required editing. You could then implement some checks for role relationships instead of checks for friend relationships.
In reply to: Remove title of buddypress group administratorsYou could try hiding it with CSS?
In reply to: BuddyPress ModeratorLooks like this plugin is just about the last remaining moderation plugin:
I think the problem with BP Profile Search lies in the “is like” criteria, it never finds stuff that is even one letter out, so you have to wonder why have that optiion?
The only other free profile search I know of is BP Search, but that is only for looking up names, it does not search the other fields.
That’s great, well, glad you found the culprit, Askimet should be seamless, only interfering with potential spam.
I think you probably need to take it back to basics and try deactivating all your plugins and see if it works. If it’s still a problem try a default theme like 2017. Hopefully it’s a plugin conflict that you can easily identify.
No the comments are WordPress Territory, not BuddyPress, BuddyPress is extremely light in it’s handling of posts and comments and it does not have any moderation, WordPress handles that for comments.
Hi Sandra,
1. Check the “Before a Comment Appears” in the Discussion settings.
2. Try AccessPress Anonymous Post.
yep they would click a button to flag it
I’ve not used this plugin but I gather from the description that posts will only appear in the queue if they are flagged by a user.
In reply to: Deny links to all but group administratorsOne way I can think of to do this would be to create some JavaScript that disables the submit button and instead runs a check for links in the text entry field, I’m not sure this would be a trivial task.
In reply to: Register & Profile Fields not showing or workingYou are welcome, good luck.
In reply to: Register & Profile Fields not showing or workingOk I’m in.
You should change that password now I’ve had access.
I can see what the problem is, your Base Profile field looks to be corrupt. It’s duplicated and does not have the required Name field. I added this field to one of the profile fields and it still did not show up.
So basically your profile field settings are corrupt in your database. As I see it there are two ways forward:
1. Delete wordpress entirely including the Database and start again.
2. Try to recover your Database by manually editing it.Given it’s a test site and you are not experienced I suggest option 1 is the best way forward.
It would be good to know exactly what happened to get this error, technically it should not happen.
This is not a feature of core BuddyPress. There’s a plugin (pretty old though) called BuddyPress Moderation however this allows the post to be flagged for moderation after it has been posted, as opposed to holding posts in a moderation queue.
In reply to: Register & Profile Fields not showing or workingThe login’s not working unfortunately
In reply to: Register & Profile Fields not showing or workingYou could check the Register page is set correctly in Dashboard>>Settings>>BuddyPress>>Pages. There should be a dropdown there to select the register page you wish to use. It should be set automatically though.
In reply to: PHP version for BuddyPress 2.9.3The minimum version you should use is 5.4 I would say, anything earlier and you will start seeing issues with wp in general. Shortly WP is going to start sending warnings to those sites. BP does support 7.2 and 7+ I would say should be recommended as it has numerous speed and security patches over previous versions.
In reply to: Register & Profile Fields not showing or workingIf I were you I’ve deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress to see if you still have the issue. I’ve got a test site running 2015 and bp and here it works so it seems that it’s something specific to your site.
In reply to: Problem sorting memberlistThis is a known issue and it’s going to be fixed in the next release which may be released within a week or so.
