In reply to: New BuddyPress 1.2 default theme
wp-admin > Appearance > Custom Header – there is an entire interface for it, including text color changes.
In reply to: New BuddyPress 1.2 default themeThe header CSS is from the WordPress custom header API. It will only show if you select a custom header image in the backend.
In reply to: Upgrade from BP 1.0-RC1 to BuddyPress 1.1.3Upgrade to 1.0 then to 1.1.3
In reply to: Remove Blogs in entire CommunityYou first need to remove all the changes you made.
In reply to: Remove Blogs in entire CommunityThis is 100% the wrong way.
Log into wp-admin go to BuddyPress > Component Setup and hit the disable radio button next to the blog tracking component.
In reply to: Buddypress Theme with WPTHEMEI’m not saying separation is a bad thing, far from it. BuddyPress adds new template tags that have changed from version to version. If you create a theme with these template tags that are no longer present, things will break.
BuddyPress is much more than theme mods.
In reply to: test 1.2Also, BuddyPress will now work in a sub directory install of single Wp.
In reply to: test 1.2Nothing like literal translation, love it. I think I get the jist of it.
In reply to: Is the goal to strip html elements from core code? What do you suggest as an alternative? A table here is fine, it’s tabular data.
In reply to: BBPress Error in BuddypressIf it’s an old group, you must first disable then re-enable the group forum in the group admin menu.
In reply to: Buddypress Theme with WPTHEMEThe only way BuddyPress is going to upgrade without being a pain is if you either use one of the bundled BuddyPress themes as a parent, or use another framework that is kept up to date.
If you build a theme from scratch built on a copy of another theme, or do not create a child theme from a parent that is kept up to date, you are going to have a bad time.
This will always be the case, since BuddyPress is a tight combination of plugin code and theme code.
In reply to: test 1.2It will not work when WP is in a sub dir until I check in the changes needed.
In reply to: 1.2 theme issueTo be honest, if you’re unsure how to fix this sort if thing, don’t run the trunk version. Stick with official stable releases. It looks like your folder permissions are wrong. They should be 644 or 755.
In reply to: buddypress = Content AggregatorAnother idea would be to release support for alternate services for paid supporters, then once you receive enough donations, release it in the wild.
In reply to: buddypress = Content Aggregator@mrmaz Why not start up premium support by means of a forum? Or perhaps offer more advanced tutorials or docs for paying supporters. Quite a few people have found this to be a successful model, and it doesn’t shut everyone out – reducing overal interest.
In reply to: BP 1.1 Smooth InstallationYou will not need to move any themes with 2.9 and 1.2. This should greatly simplify the installation.
In reply to: Error posting : Latest truncAs a general notice: Please do not upgrade or use the trunk if you are not prepared to encounter errors. The trunk is best for developers who can debug and fix problems. I know a lot of people are itching to try it out and upgrade, but it’s still not close to being ready for general use.
In reply to: New BuddyPress 1.2 default themeYou can’t run the new theme on 1.1.3, it must be the trunk, and the latest trunk.
In reply to: Problems with themes after upgradeWhat you’ll want to do is run BuddyPress on a sub-blog not the root blog. There are a couple of threads on how to do this if you do a quick search.
In reply to: Donations on BP.org, what do you think?Perhaps when this site is updated to 1.2 (after release) and plugin developers can create groups for their plugins, we can attach a paypal donate link. That way each plugin developer(s) will get their own group, activity stream, forum, donate link and perhaps some of the other great extensions being released as plugins.
In reply to: Single WP supported on latest trunkAlso – you must enable pretty permalinks on your single WP installation, otherwise BP will not work at all.
In reply to: Single WP supported on latest trunkI’ve added the WP abstraction code that will allow BuddyPress to run on all WordPress versions to the trunk. This code will more than likely be needed even after the merge, so I want to get it in there and up and running for 1.2.
I’ve had it going for a while locally, so it seems silly to sit on this until 1.3. After the merge I will tweak where needed, but I don’t anticipate much change since the multiblog features of 3.0 will simply be an on/off setting.
In reply to: Enterprise BuddypressAlso, BuddyPress will automatically synchronize profile fields with the WP profile fields. Check the function xprofile_sync_wp_profile()
In reply to: Enterprise BuddypressThe name field was previously split into “First Name / Last Name” fields, but this is an issue for internationalization. In future versions it may be possible to apply rules to profile fields that will determine the content allowed.
In reply to: BP Developer Docs down again? The problem is when I mark a user as spam it is marking the codex as spam since they are an auto-member. It’s fixed now.
